WZIP (88.1 FM) — alternately branded Z 88 days and Night Rock nights — is a student-run college radio station licensed to Akron, Ohio and owned by The University of Akron.[2][3] Generally the station airs Pop/Contemporary Hit Radio (CHR) during the day and an Active Rock format at night.
History
The station originally went on the air with the callsign WAUP. The callsign was changed to WZIP-FM on 1989-06-05. On 1989-10-17, the station changed its call sign to the current WZIP.[4]
