Hi. You've rather clogged this category. I'm not sure what is gained by putting everything in this category rather than in well chosen subcategories. Indeed I don't think there is a need to categorise every subtemplate either, as long as the main template is properly categorised. What do you think? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 19:30, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I guess a got a little carried away when I found Special:UncategorizedTemplates and thought "I know a category for those!". Do you think that it would be better if there was a Category:WikiProject Articles for creation templates or just remove all of them? →GƒoleyFour19:44, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That category might be worth creating, although in a way Category:Template-Class AfC project pages does the same job albeit with the talk pages. One problem with putting categories on preload templates is that the noinclude is not respected. (I hear that has now been fixed with the new MediaWiki version but have not checked it yet.) Hence we now have a lot of articles in the category as well - these will certainly need removing. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:10, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I notice that this category is still in a bit of a mess. Will you have any time to sort it out? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 12:08, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I'm a bit busy with other WP projects. I'm going to try to sort out the mess over the weekend. (With Hotcat helping!) GƒoleyFour05:40, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion work

Hi Gfoley! As I'm sure you've noticed on your watchlist, I've been going through the CSD backlog in the last hour or so, and I've reviewed a number of your taggings. While your tagging seems to be quite accurate, I just thought I'd mention that you should try to notify the creators of articles when you tag them. I note that you've used Twinkle in the past, but are not doing so now. I would suggest that if you choose not to use it, it is best to put the templates in manually (see here for a list of them) so that the author has a chance to respond to concerns. Thanks!  -- Lear's Fool 02:32, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm..., I've just noticed that the warn module of Twinkle seems to be busted. Is this the reason you've stopped using it?  -- Lear's Fool 02:34, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. Over on IRC we have been mourning our dear friend TW. I guess I got so used for it doing it automatically, that I forget to do it. I'll made sure to notify the author from now on. (But hopefully I won't have to do it manually for much longer!) →GƒoleyFour02:44, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Aidan Brown

Technically, Aidan Brown was created before Aidan Brown (Body Scientist), so A10 doesn't apply. No big deal though. Feezo (Talk) 03:03, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ha. Oh well, it still got deleted. :) →GƒoleyFour03:07, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rock Island Additions

Dear sir,

I was reviewing the addition of the Chicago-Denver navbox you added to former Rock Island Line stations. I think that it is misleading putting the historical, disused line alongside operational services (Denver Union Station, LaSalle Street Station). Unless you change the navbox to mention that the line is disused as a passenger service, I'm going to delete the box from station pages. Regards, WaltBren (talk) 19:51, 28 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I will add {{s-note|text=former services}} to the s-line templates on the ATSF and Rock Island Line stations that I have so far made. (e.g. Mazon Station, Morris Station). →GƒoleyFour21:23, 28 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, the "Former services" banner looks great. How many of these former passenger services are you planning on doing? Do you need any help with it? WaltBren (talk) 20:04, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
How many? I honestly don't know. Some of my goals are the Santa Fe and Rock Island Line and obviously these are a long way off. I am trying to do the Chicago—Los Angeles ATSF main line while also doing the Rock Island Chicago—Colorado Springs main line. The trouble is finding any references for them; I have found this Google Book timetable from 1904 that I have been basing them off. Of course I have to find more references than that. You can help but I'd appreciate it if you'd let me do the Illinois stations though. →GƒoleyFour21:22, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2011 February newsletter

So begins round two of the WikiCup! We now have eight pools, each with eight random contestants. This round will continue until the end of April, when the top two of each pool, as well as the next 16 highest scorers of those remaining, will make it to round three. Congratulations to The Bushranger (submissions) (first, with 487 points) and Zanzibar Hurricanehink (submissions) (second, with 459), who stormed the first round. Scotland Casliber (submissions) finished third with 223. Twelve others finished with over 100 points- well done to all of you! The final standings in round one can be seen here. A mere 8 points were required to reach round two; competition will no doubt be much more fierce this round, so be ready for a challenge! A special thanks goes, again, to United Kingdom Jarry1250 (submissions) for dealing with all bot work. This year's bot, as well as running smoothly, is doing some very helpful things that last year's did not. Also, thanks to Bavaria Stone (submissions) for some helpful behind-the-scenes updating and number crunching.

Some news for those who are interested- March will see a GAN backlog elimination drive, which you are still free to join. Organised by WikiProject Good articles, the drive aims to minimise the GAN backlog and offers prizes to those who help out. Of course, you may well be able to claim WikiCup points for the articles you review as part of the drive. Also ongoing is the Great Backlog Drive, looking to work on clearing all of the backlogs on Wikipedia; again, incentives are offered, and the spirit of friendly competition is alive, while helping the encyclopedia is the ultimate aim. Though unrelated to the WikiCup, these may well be of interest to some of you.

Just a reminder of the rules; if you have done significant work on content this year and it is promoted in this round, you may claim for it. Also, anything that was promoted after the end of round one but before the beginning of round two may be claimed for in round two. Details of the rules can be found on this page. For those interested in statistics, a running total of claims can be seen here, and a very interesting table of that information (along with the highest scorers in each category) can be seen here. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Vandalism On Gina Yashere's page

Comment - Someone is vandalising British comedian Gina Yashere's page. She is a professional stand up comedian but someone keeps undoing the edits that say she is a plumber. She is not a plumber she is a professional comedian. I tried twice to make the changes but they kept getting edited back by someone or a bot.

Here is the Wikipedia page in question:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gina_Yashere

Please help fix this! Thanks!12.196.37.227 (talk) 21:09, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Done. I know know why that person thought your edits were vandalism. Cheers, 205.245.189.151 (talk) 21:17, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
^ That's me! How did it log me out?GƒoleyFour21:19, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yo

Think we got a sock problem. Funny right, the only thing I come back on is to fight more vandalism.--iGeMiNix 22:43, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what you mean? Are you talking about that 24.xxx IPs? →GƒoleyFour
Yeah, he finally learned to make an account, keep watch of him. He is probably the dude you most recently greeted.--iGeMiNix 22:47, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, it doesn't seem like 24.xxx. He/she had a tendency to YELL but NYCSlover has only treated Acps110 and me with respect. →GƒoleyFour22:51, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, well once he starts talking trash when The Legendary Ranger reverts his edits, then you know its him. The Legendary Ranger reverts them for a reason, because he is adding unnecessary crap on them, so if you see he is adding more crap, remove it.--iGeMiNix 22:52, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
And you were right.... →GƒoleyFour00:37, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That's right, they should hire me on the sock team. =P--iGeMiNix 01:34, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
WP:SPICLERK ;-) →GƒoleyFour01:43, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Lol, what did he post about anyways?--iGeMiNix 02:05, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Just a usual rant. I filed a WP:RFO since they posted personal information. →GƒoleyFour02:14, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Lol, not surprised. Anyways see you around man.--iGeMiNix 12:16, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I have doubts about that dude ever maturing.--iGeMiNix 16:12, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Mhm; Unfortunately a rangeblock doesn't seem possible. GƒoleyFour16:14, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism Template

Hey there Gfoley4, me again. I have been curious on this vandalism template. Since I am on Huggle2 often and I can see the scale of vandalism, how would I go about editing it? I simply ask because I see you edited it last, and I dont want to mess up any formatting. Thanks! I'm Flightx52 and I approve this message 23:27, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sure! The easiest way to update it is to place the template ({{Vandalism information}}) on your user page. Then click the "update" click on the template. Remove my signature and add yours. Change the level of vandalism to whatever level you think it is. (5 is the least, 1 is the highest) Write a short message in the | info= parameter... And you're done! GƒoleyFour23:36, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You might also want to try the Qui system to help change your status. GƒoleyFour23:43, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, well thats simple enough! And thanks for Qui, that will definitely help. I'm Flightx52 and I approve this message 16:18, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Closures

I appreciate you efforts to close deletion discussions, but templates {{rfd top}} and {{rfd bottom}} (and other top and bottom templates) should be substituted. In other words you should type {{subst:rfd top|Reason}} and {{subst:rfd bottom}}. Ruslik_Zero 10:06, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oh alright. I think I first started out doing that but then changed to not substituting over time. Cheers, GƒoleyFour15:34, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
