Claire Malcolm is a British menswear designer who since graduating from Middlesex University BA Fashion Design, has grown to become one of the Chief Designers on Savile Row.
Early Career
Kim Jones
In 2006 Malcolm began working for British Designer Kim Jones who she admired for his refined approach to menswear design. Throughout this period, Malcolm helped produce 8 collections for his main line Kim by Kim Jones, with the most recent having been shown in New York during the Mens’ Collections in February 2007. Other presentations have varied from films with Alasdair McLellen and Toyin, to a book with American art photographer Luke Smalley. It was during this period that Malcolm began to further explore her passion for bespoke tailoring; influenced mainly by the Savile Row tailors Norton & Sons who she collaborated with Jones on creating several garments.
Kanye West (Pastelle)
Between 2008-09, Malcolm worked closely with Music Producer and Artist Kanye West on developing his fashion line, “Pastelle”.
E.Tautz
Impressed by Malcolm's contribution towards an earlier collaboration with Kim Jones in 2008, Patrick Grant from Norton & Sons approached Malcolm to design the first collection from his E.Tautz label; a forgotten military brand belonging to the tailor house from which Grant wanted to develop a ready to wear branch to his tailoring house. Between 2009-10, Malcolm designed both the SS10 and AW10 collections, subsequently winning E.Tautz the award for 'Best Menswear' at the British Fashion Awards 2010.
Hardy Amies
