The 2012 Michigan United States Senate election will be held on November 6, 2012 alongside a presidential election, other elections to the United States Senate in other states, as well as elections to the United States House of Representatives and various state and local elections. Incumbent Democratic U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow is running for re-election to a third term.

Background

Incumbent Debbie Stabenow was re-elected in 2006 with 57% of the vote to 41% for Oakland County sheriff and former State Senate Majority Leader Michael Bouchard after narrowly defeating Republican incumbent Spencer Abraham in 2000.
