I can't believe Wymnan's article thus far ranked a C-level in it's progress for the guitar group. There's barely enough there for a Stub article. Please! --[[User:Leahtwosaints|Leahtwosaints]] ([[User talk:Leahtwosaints|talk]]) 00:03, 8 August 2010 (UTC) |

Could anyone please explain why in an article about Bill Wyman, there is a photo of the Stones in concert, with Mick, Ronnie and Keith but NO BILL WYMAN???? WTF??? There is a picture later in the article of just Bill, presumably from the same concert tour, however. In the back of my mind, I can't help but think that someone is being petty, and taking a backhand swipe at Bill since he's not with the Stones any more. Even if I am way off base, and being paranoid, it is definitely a faux pas, to have a picture of a band performing in an article about one of the members, and excluding the member the article is about! Does anyone know the meaning of the word "DUH"?? (Possibly my favorite quote from a movie!!) |

Wyman Quitting the Rolling Stones
Apparently Bill was a big fund of the early version of the Dungeons and Dragons game. Allegedly he used to play it with his roadies. Anyone confirm this?

@Whotookthatguy If you think the "biography" section seems amateurly written, this may have to do with the fact that it was the beginning of the Bill Wyman section and that no source info was mentioned (Wikipedia has since then become much stricter in its policy). Nevertheless, the info in the section was mostly based on Wyman's autobiography "Stone Alone". Don't know anything about some gay club stuff. By the way, I'm not a native speaker English.
@ First user: Jagger said in an interview not long after Bill's departure that "it won't faze us too much, I think". Did he say it? Yes. Do I know in which particular interview? No. Maybe The Stones didn't replace Wyman, because they had reached a stage in which they didn't need another fixed band member but could do with temporarily hired "employees".

Correction
Sorry, that should be "fan", not "fund"
Wyman's "odd" relationships, vs. Gary Glitter
Bill's son is/was his own father's father in law?! You could not make it up.
Anyway, if what is written here is true, and Bill actually ***ked a 13 year old girl at the grand young age of 47... in what way is he different from Gary Glitter, who is routinely demonised as an evil paedophile in the UK press, and has as of this writing just earned a prison sentence for his activity?
I do not wish to condone Glitter's actions, but... maybe if, like Wyman, he had played with a multi-squillion-selling band in the all-important 1960s, he'd be treated rather more leniently? 217.155.20.163 23:57, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
Just because they started a relationship when she was 13, doesn't mean they had sex when she was 13. While as Gary Glitter was found with an assortment of child pornography.Mustang6172 02:56, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
QUESTION: Did Stephen actually marry Mandy's mother? According to VH1's documentary of the Rolling Stones, the two were engaged, but not actually married.
- WhatEVER. Please remember this is a small aspect of Wyman's overall life. Think! Jerry Lee Lewis, Waddy Wachtel, all people just off the top of my head that don't follow that country's "laws". If he lived in West Africa and was a Muslim with two wives and an engagement to a 6 year old girl, nobody would blink an eye. See!!! Now you have me spending far too much time about this; the POINT is that this is an encyclopedia, not a discussion forum or tabloid.--Leahtwosaints (talk) 13:59, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
Birth location
When Bill Wyman was born, Penge was in Kent (not in London as it is now) so I have changed it back to Kent as it appeared on previous versions.
Just to confuse matters further, I have also read [1] that he spent his first few years in neighbouring Sydenham and was evacuated during the war although he certainly spent much of his childhood living in Penge. --Vincej 14:36, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
Just for the record: I have improved the accuracy of the first sentence to reflect that Bill Wyman was actually born in a nearby hospital in Lewisham and may have spent a few years in neighbouring Sydenham before moving to Penge. --Vince 09:03, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
- This article needs to be expanded. It just doesn't say much about the man.
National Service addition
thanks for the additional details, but i'm transplanting the new bit here for the time being, in order to discuss some issues with it:
- ===National Service===
- Bill was called up for national service in the RAF in January 1955 and reported to RAF Cardington for about 10 days – then was posted to RAF Padgate for 8 week’s basic training – which was a nightmare he recalled.
- His Service number was: 2745787 - From there he was posted to RAF Credenhill near Hereford for Trade Training, & passed out as a Clerk Progress (maths, graphs, statistics etc)
- In the autumn, after signing for an extra year (for more benefits & better treatment) he was posted to RAF Oldenburg in North Germany (BFPO 40), where he spent the rest of his service in the Motor Transport Section
- The camp was comprised of 3 Hawker Hunter squadrons - 23 Squadron, 26 Squadron & 33 Squadron, & included 1,000 RAF Regiment members – the whole camp comprised 4,000 military personnel The camp was on a 4-hour (evacuate the camp) alert for most of the time he was there, being only 100 miles from the Russian border The Suez Crisis occurred while he was on leave in England, & was obliged to return to base immediately
- It was here that he heard the beginnings of Rock ‘n’ Roll on AFN Radio (American Forces Network), & took up guitar playing for the first time
- In 1957 he formed a skiffle group on camp and was demobbed in January 1958
the main issues i see with this material are: a] there are no sources cited; and b] this section can't simply be inserted in the middle of the "musical career" section – it necessitates restructuring the article. that might be okay, if the necessary sources can be cited and if this much detail about his RAF service is really warranted ... but is it? i hope other editors will chime in with their views. thanks Sssoul (talk) 18:12, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
Children
While it refers to "Wyman's first marriage to wife Dianne, prior to his involvement with the Rolling Stones, produced his only known child, Stephen Paul Wyman". However, it later states that "In April 1993 he married Suzanne Accosta. They are still married and have three daughters". As it stands, the two statements are not compatible. Are the three daughters not his, or should the statement about Stephen be 'his only known son', or should it be "Wyman's first marriage to wife Dianne produced his only known child prior to his involvement with the Rolling Stones, Stephen Paul Wyman"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.197.219.87 (talk) 11:37, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

Reliable source for unlawful sexual intercourse with a 14 year old (Mandy Smith) and his son's relationship with Mandy's mother
Here is a reliable source for for Wyman's sex with a 14 year old (Mandy Smith) and his son's relationship with Mandy's mother. Will someone please add it in? I'm about to go to sleep. Bill the Cat 7 (talk) 07:10, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
Walking style and influence of Ricky Fenson (citation needed)
I just added this reference to Ricky_Fenson's page; see "Rick Brown's memories of the Cyril Davies All Stars and more ..." and in there there's great history of Fenson ("He also pitched in with the Rolling Stones and played with the Brian Auger Trinity and Steampacket.") as well as quote of Wyman, all connected to walking bass style and influence. --BenTremblay (talk) 21:09, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
