Amir Taaki

While searching you on google, I noticed you have a page here on Wikipedia. It might interest you to know that I'm writing an article about you Amir Taaki! Love the great work you've been doing. BTW what's your date of birth + I need a link to it. Vermillion trade (talk) 18:13, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oh! Very fancy. Thank you, love the comments and appreciation :)) Feel free to hit me up if you're ever in London. My DOB is 06 Feb 1988... not sure where you can find that info on the net. Let me check.Genjix (talk) 21:30, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Allosaurus eyes

Hello, Genjix;

It would probably be better to cite the material to an episode or DVD of the series, using Template:Cite visual or Template:Cite episode; we have a citation to a DVD feature in the popular culture section, for example. Also, the material should get its own sentence, because the Stevens article footnoted at the end of the modified sentence doesn't cover the added material. J. Spencer (talk) 03:31, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The additional material is not to be added to a sentence that already has a citation, because then there is a misrepresentation of what is actually in the Stevens article. "Binocular vision in theropod dinosaurs" Stevens 2006 does not have anything in it about Allosaurus being an ambush predator. J. Spencer (talk) 04:11, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I just did (split them out). We were editing at the same time before. J. Spencer (talk) 04:22, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the compliment! J. Spencer (talk) 02:55, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. —DoRD (talk) 22:51, 11 August 2010 (UTC) [reply]

  • I have three things to say about this. Firstly, while using individual quotes may be alright, an article which consists entirely of quotes really is a breach of copyright. Secondly, even apart from the copyright issue, a page consisting of nothing but a list of quotes from an author is not really suitable as an encyclopaedia article. Thirdly, while a copy of the same material at User:Genjix/Carl Sagan quotes formatted for EBooks avoids the second of those problems, it is still a copyright infringement, so I'm afraid that one will have to be deleted too. JamesBWatson (talk) 17:28, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's from Wikiquotes. Please leave my page alone. And I would prefer that next time you message me here for clarification before willy nilly deleting pages I didn't request being deleted. Genjix (talk) 17:47, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Note regarding permissions

Hello there! I've noticed that you've been requesting quite a few rights lately, so I thought I would drop you a short note regarding collecting permissions just in case. While it is fine to request permissions when you have a real need for them, it is frowned upon to request permissions when you have not demonstrated a need. I understand that you may be eager to help out, and I really appreciate your dedication, but please understand that permissions are not required to edit or contribute to the project. For more information, please read this page. If you have any questions or need any help, feel free to message me on my talk page. Netalarmtalk 01:37, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I requested 2 permissions- auto-patrolled and edit filter by mistake. That is 1 permission I'm requesting. I don't think that's too unreasonable. And that primarily applies to new users- I've been editing WP since 2005. Genjix (talk) 02:08, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yup I know, just a note in case you were. Regarding your request for autopatrolled, see here. Netalarmtalk 02:43, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You might want to be a bit more careful, use of words like "retarded" might be construed as personal attacks. --Nuujinn (talk) 10:21, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies. It is a bit too strong a word on closer examination. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Genjix (talk) 11:01, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Not a problem, thanks! --Nuujinn (talk) 11:09, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

December 2010

Please do not attack other editors, as you did at Talk:Bitcoin. Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. This link [1] Polargeo (talk) 09:45, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"but rather the bitcoin fan who wants a quick link to 'their forums/chat in wikipedia mainspace." Fuck you asshole. You attacked me by insinuating that my work editing that article was trying to plug my own websites. Well go look at the history and see that I spent a long time bringing it out of incubator status to make it fit for inclusion into Wikipedia. At least show some respect. Genjix (talk) 09:48, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not attack other editors. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Please calm down. This [2] is not a god way of communicating. I have nothing against you. Polargeo (talk) 09:50, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Then why don't you tell me what you meant by that flippant comment? Instead of issuing warnings maybe you should apologise for that offensive remark. Genjix (talk) 09:53, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I said that was my opinion. I suppose I was trying to highlight how the external links are viewed by myself. I was not even specifically referring to you alone as it was RHorning who left the chat and forum links in and RHorning is a regular forum commentator. You are a regular on the IRC. So the two of you campaigning to leave links in to your forums/chat channels looks like fan editing to me. I could have said it more tactfully though. Polargeo (talk) 10:01, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is your last warning; the next time you make personal attacks on other people, as you did at Talk:Bitcoin, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. This [3] is an attack on my motives specifically and does not focus on content Polargeo (talk) 10:17, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:DIY-stopping-stopping2.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. DIY projects

You said: "Image for explanation on my user page. As per Wikipedia:User_pages#Images I can upload images to WP for my user page." Totally the wrong way round. On user pages you may only use free images. Fair-use cannot be applied. — [[::User:RHaworth|RHaworth]] (talk · contribs) 13:21, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bitcoin contributions

I want to thank you for your contributions to the Bitcoin article. You may want to at least for a little bit be less confrontational to User:Polargeo, as he is also at least trying to maintain some sort of standard to Wikipedia and isn't being overly protective. If he does something stupid like blocking your account, I'm going to start to scream here as that would be certainly abuse of his "authority" as admin if he tries. At the same time, you need to calm down and not take comments so personally.

Perhaps a "cooling off" period would be in order here too, but that is something you should decide. I know that you are passionate about Bitcoins and that shows. I would suggest the same thing to Polargeo as well, but I doubt he would listen to me. The Bitcoin article itself won't be finished tomorrow and even next year there will be plenty of room for improvement. Far too much happens on Wikipedia where a short deadline is presumed, when in fact that is seldom the case.

There is a whole lot of promise here, and you have been making some outstanding contributions. Just try to keep things in perspective here and know that you aren't being singled out here, even if it may seem like it at the moment. --Robert Horning (talk) 01:31, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks :) I already did decide to just stay away from that article. Genjix (talk) 01:38, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, that would be understandable, but you should definitely keep the article on your watchlist and check in from time to time. I hope you'll stick around, your enthusiasm is admirable, and we can use the help. --Nuujinn (talk) 02:10, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't want you to go either unless you were to continue to be abusive. I am not an admin and even if I was I would not have any more power than any other user. My first encounter with the bitcoin article was as a completely uninvolved admin, when I deleted it. Now I am involved because of my work on the article. I decided to become involved because I though it was clearly an article that needed some oversight. Polargeo (talk) 06:53, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wait a minute. You claim to be the admin who closed the original bitcoin deletion discussion then claim not to be an admin? Something does not compute there, on top of your threat you made above to essentially block Genjix and start messing with him. I'd suggest to simply pull back for a little bit here and give it a rest for now, as you obviously have this particular user irritated at you personally. It sounds more like you are trying to get into his face even more at the moment. --Robert Horning (talk) 07:12, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I handed in the admin bit voluntarily. So I am not an admin now. Also I started looking into copyright because of the clearly questionable copyright on the image used in the bitoicn article not to be messing with Genjix. What you class as threats are not threats but warnings. I started off with a very low level warning considering the name calling. You don't seem to realise that I could have reported Genjix to WP:ANI and he would have very likely been blocked. I chose not to do this. Polargeo (talk) 07:21, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: Speedy deletion of User:Genjix/Bitcoin

Hello. I am posting this to inform you that I have speedy deleted User:Genjix/Bitcoin under the criteria for speedy deletion G11 as unambiguous advertising. Eagles 24/7 (C) 19:45, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is your only warning; if you make personal attacks on other people again, as you did at User talk:Eagles247, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. I have also e-mailed you a copy of Bitcoin, but in the future, a simple "please e-mail me the contents" message will do. Eagles 24/7 (C) 19:07, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Seeing that I have written various articles on my talk page, I'm curious why you decided to go after that particular Bitcoin page. I've contributed many years to Wikipedia starting many pages/copy editing and am obviously not a random spammer.
As an admin you should issue a RfD instead of instant deleting of content. It's much easier for you to create than to destroy content.
Wikipedia is turning into a fascist inward looking community. If you want to stem the decreasing flow of new users & increasing amount of people leaving then this cabal needs to be broken up. The attitudes need to change.
I'm done with Wikipedia editing for good. Thanks for your email. Genjix (talk) 19:34, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Sven Slootweg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

non-notable hacker, fails WP:GNG

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Rymatz (talk) 21:46, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

He's in several mainstream press. But delete it if you think he is non-notable. Genjix (talk) 21:48, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
