The 2012 season is the 86th season of the Northern Football League (formerly Diamond Valley Football League) and commenced in April 2012.

2012 season

The 2012 NFL season will contain 3 divisions. A 10 team Division One, 8 team Division Two and a 7 team Division Three. Lower Plenty were promoted to Division One after winning the Grand Final in Division 2, while North Heidelberg were relegated to Division Two, for the first time in their history, after winning the 'Wooden Spoon' in Division 1. South Morang were promoted to Division Two after winning the Grand Final in Division 3, while Mernda were relegated to Division Three after winning the 'Wooden Spoon' in Division 2. The fixture for the 2011 NFL season is not a random selection of matches, but rather is planned by the NFL. The season will run for 18 rounds plus 5 weeks of finals.
