Revision as of 11:35, 25 September 2012

The 2013 GP3 Series season will be the fourth season of the GP3 Series, a motor racing feeder series for Formula One and sister series GP2.

Following a three-year cycle, the previous GP3 chassis will be replaced by a brand new car, the GP3/13, built by Italian racing car manufacturer Dallara.[1] The 280bhp turbo-charged engine used from 2010 to 2012 will be upgraded to a 400bhp naturally-aspirated unit,[2] which will be used until 2016.

Team changes

  • The maximum grid size will be formally capped at twenty-seven entries.[8] Thirty had previously been allowed, but this proved unsustainable over time, culminating in the withdrawal of the Ralf SchumacherMücke Motorsport collaboration, RSC Mücke, from the 2012 grid.

Calendar

The format of the 2013 calendar will remain unchanged from 2012, with the series spread across eight rounds supporting Formula One and sister series GP2.[8]
