addition to gender roles in agriculture

Hi all I want to add a section "women and agriculture in Sub Saharan Africa" to the article 'gender roles in agriculture' and also improve the introduction of the article. Any comments or suggestions are most welcome.. Thnx Diksha41 (talk) 20:59, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That addition would be most welcome. It would be good to make reference to the Women's Empowerment in Agriculture Index. In regards to Africa, the related women and the environment article mentions research by Esther Boserup, the feminization of agriculture and the Green Belt Movement. Revision to Nancy Folbre page

Prof Folbre is an important feminist economist, but her page is very thin. She has a huge body of work on gender studies - in particular, the economic impact of care work. I hope that by expanding her page, a greater insight to the subject might be gained by highlighting a great mind in the field. marsge01 (talk) 11:28, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think any improvements that could be made to the Nancy Folbre article would be much appreciated. Gobōnobo + c 23:46, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There are two primary aspects that I'd like to enhance. First, I'd like to summarize her major written works - books and journal articles. She's a regular contributor to the New York Times Economix section, and I might include a few highlights. Second, I'd like to link the Nancy Folbre page to other related pages, so that someone researching feminist economics would easily find her a resource. If you have any other suggestions, I'd be very glad to hear them. Thanks, Garret.Marsge01 (talk) 21:32, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

comment on women in agriculture in SSA

The proposed addition is important. Food security in SSA depends on women subsistence farmers. BerikG (talk) 18:34, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. The gender roles in agriculture article is currently missing sections for Africa, Australia, and Asia. A section on Sub-Saharan Africa is needed for balance. Gobōnobo + c 03:43, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Revision of Employment and specifically Gender Discrimination

Hello everyone. I would like to edit the section on "Employment Discrimination". I am planning to write more on gender discrimination, which is a subsection of employment discrimination, and engender the entire employment discrimination page. If you have any concerns, ideas or suggestions, please let me know. Thank you. Orhand12 (talk) 18:43, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Orhand12. The Gender discrimination and the workplace section of the Employment discrimination article could definitely use some expansion. This could also be spun off into a stand-alone article if you were so inclined. This topic can be controversial, so be careful to ensure that neutrality is maintained and all perspectives are included. The gender pay gap and sexual harassment articles may have relevant content or sources. For a topic like this one, I think one challenge is presenting a global perspective that doesn't use examples from one part of the world to generalize about the phenomenon everywhere. If you will be discussing the legal aspects, we currently have articles on employment discrimination law in the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union. Proposed Revisions and New Entry: Gender Inequality in Thailand

Hello everyone,

I am currently working on a term paper for my Gender Economics class. My topic is about Gender Inequality in Thailand which will mainly focus on the context of gender division of labor in labor market. I am planning on starting my article by pointing out the problem of gender inequality from various perspective based on the gender inequality indicators in order to build up the understanding of the situation in Thailand. I will then present, in detail, the gender in equality in labor market in several aspects such as gender wage gap, employment rate, etc. I would be appreciate if you guys can help me with the sources of data of further idea of what else should be included, or not included, in the article or what other indicator(s) I shall present in my article.

So far I have gathered some information from world bank website. Some of my literatures include:

Kampon Adireksombat, Fang Zheng, and Chir Sakellariou. The evolution of gender wage differentials and discriminations in thailand: 1991-2007. In Economic Growth Centre Working Paper Series, number 2010/05. Economic Growth Centre, 2010.

George Gray Molina and Mark Purser. Human development trends since 1970: A social convergence story, 2010.

Social Institutions & Gender Index. Gender equality in thailand. http: //genderindex.org/country/thailand, 2012. [Online; accessed 28- September-2012].

I am sure I need a lot more citations to make a good article and I would be appreciate if any of you could provide me some suggestion(s). Thank you very much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Econkc (talkcontribs) 14:42, October 15, 2012‎

Family Economics Wikipedia:USEP/Courses/Labor/Gender II: Economics of Gender (Gunseli Berik)

I am planning to revise the article family economics. I thought it is a suitable topic for being under the wiki project Gender Studies, since gender is a significant factor in determining economic relations within the family. Also the economic relationships within the family is an important factor by shaping the role of gender in a society. So I suggest to bring this article under this wiki project. Family economics is a subject that has been developed in last few decades and there are many resources that could be used to develop the article. Currently the article is pretty much like an outline of a more developed encyclopedia article. I think the subjects that are stated in the article can be a starting point from which further development. I am planning to put the marriage, or formation of family, division of labor within the family and history of family as three possible sections that could be added to the article. I would really appreciate any general ideas on the contribution i am planning to make. One subject where I am not certain is the children. I think I may add another section on the role of children in the family, or I can cover the role of children within the family family in other sections. Also I think I might add how economics of family is related to macroeconomic policies, like welfare programs, or social movements like feminism, or socialism. However I think I might overextend the article by doing then. If you have any advice on these particular subjects where i have confusion, I would like to hear that.

Portal:Society at peer review

Portal:Society is now up for portal peer review, the review page is at Wikipedia:Portal peer review/Society/archive1. I've put a bit of effort into this as part of a featured portal drive related to portals linked from the top-right corner of the Main Page, and feedback would be appreciated prior to featured portal candidacy. Thank you for your time, — Cirt (talk) 02:41, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Also include Sociology of Gender

I'm happy to research Sociology of gender to find verifiable sources and wikify, etc. Will do shortly. If anyone has concerns or suggestions regarding this article in the context of this WikiProject and other related articles, please let me know. HiTrish (talk) 18:26, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion sorting question

I've listed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Woodhull Sexual Freedom Alliance at Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Sexuality and gender and Wikipedia:WikiProject Pornography/Deletion, but I'm not too sure if there are other topical related deletion sorting type places to list this sort of deletion discussion? If so, feel free to do so, or let me know so I can be aware of that in the future going forwards. Thanks and have a great day! Cheers, — Cirt (talk) 17:53, 30 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've nominated Portal:Society for featured portal candidacy, discussion is at Wikipedia:Featured portal candidates/Portal:Society. Thank you for your time, — Cirt (talk) 22:28, 12 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
