Madrid–Valladolid high-speed rail line

Thank you for your addition to Madrid–Valladolid high-speed rail line. There are some Spanish phrases I have not been able to translate with confidence, e.g. Puesto de Banalización and Puesto de Adelantamiento y Estacionamiento de Trenes. Can you help with these please? Biscuittin (talk) 11:37, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your edits to various high-speed rail articles. I have reverted the changes to High Speed 1 as they do not conform to the WP:LAYOUT policies: WP:FOOTERS requires that navboxes be places at the very end of an article. Could I also draw your attention to WP:SEEALSO: a "See also" section should ideally be empty—if a link is already used within the body of an article, if should not be added to the See also section, and if possible the linked in See also should be moved into the article body. Once again, thank you for your edits! —Sladen (talk) 03:22, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Just wonder why you put USA before Turkey (it is alphabetically sorted)? And why you link to High-speed rail in Spain and not AVE? Prillen (talk) 19:36, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Then I changed the order back to alphabetically (take a look at a category "by country" and you will see that is the common practice). And I changed the link back to AVE – and added a talk at Talk:AVE#Merge_with_High-speed_rail_in_Spain. Prillen (talk) 09:25, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hotcat

From the look of my watchlist you appear to be moving quite a lot of articles from Category:Megalithic monuments to Category:Megalithic monuments in Europe & I wondered if you knew about HOTCAT which makes this sort of process much easier.— Rod talk 19:22, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, I don't know HOTCAT. Maybe i'll try next time I rename a lot of articles. Thank you for the tips. Visite fortuitement prolongée (talk) 21:22, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Minaret of Freedom Institute

Just wondering ... why is Minaret considered a libertarian think tank?--Epeefleche (talk) 20:24, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Things like "Minaret of Freedom Institute: A free market Muslim perspective on economics, democracy, terrorism and Middle East conflict" in http://www.minaret.org/ , "the operation of a scholars exchange program both to allow institute associates to make presentations to academics and policy makers in Muslim countries and to permit libertarian Muslims from abroad to spend time in contact with market-oriented Muslim scholars in America and to have access to resources not available in their home countries." in Mission Statement of the Minaret of Freedom Institute, link to http://atlasnetwork.org/ in every page of the web site, "Minaret of Freedom Institute (Bethesda, MD - USA)" in http://atlasnetwork.org/for-think-tanks/free-market-think-tank-links/ , and of course http://www.google.com/search?as_q=libertarian&as_epq=Minaret+of+Freedom+Institute . Visite fortuitement prolongée (talk) 20:49, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Tx. I guess I just never equated free-market with libertarian.--Epeefleche (talk) 07:17, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I see the disconnect in the wiki article on libertarian: "Libertarian socialists such as Noam Chomsky and Colin Ward have stated that the term libertarianism is considered throughout the world a synonym for anarchism, despite the fact that within the United States in recent decades it has become more usually associated with free market positions"--Epeefleche (talk) 07:21, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

International Institute for Research and Education

Why did you remove International Institute for Research and Education from the category for think tanks?--Duncan (talk) 23:02, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Because International Institute for Research and Education is included in Category:Political and economic think tanks based in Europe which is included in Category:Political and economic think tanks which is included in Category:Think tanks by topic which is included in Category:Think tanks. Students for a Free Tibet

I have reversed your recategorisations of Students for a Free Tibet; as the article's History section explains, it is not merely a US organisation and so I am puzzled that you chose to recategorise it as such. NebY (talk) 19:07, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Foreign policy and strategy think tanks in the United States

With categories, the parent categories should be ones that correctly include all of the articles in the category. As you get closer to the top, this is difficult or impossible to do. As an example, if the category is about a company and includes people and products, it really should not be a child of say, Category:Companies based in New Jersey. So there is the pseudo parent category of Categories named after that allows these to be grouped without adding them to poorly selected or inappropriate categories. The top of the tree is really at Category:Eponymous categories. Hope this helps. Vegaswikian (talk) 21:54, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

not sure what you are doing here?

Why are you removing categories on so many articles? Weaponbb7 (talk) 16:00, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mostly because Template:Category diffuse. Visite fortuitement prolongée (talk) 16:03, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Categories

Some articles are the "lead article" of their category. They usually have the same name or a similar name to the category, such as Religion in Sri Lanka and Category:Religion in Sri Lanka, and are usually alphabetized before all other articles in the category. Such articles are exempt from the general rule that articles do not belong in higher-level categories. The reason for this is that when a user is browsing a category like Category:Sri Lankan culture or Category:Religion in Asia, he expects to find the relevant articles right there in the category, and not have to go burrowing through subcategories to find it. In general, no lead article should be in only its own category and no others; it makes the article too difficult to find. For comparison, see Michael Jackson, which is the lead article of Category:Michael Jackson but is also in a host of other categories as well. +Angr 16:14, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Religion in Asia currently include 63 sub-categories, and 4 articles: Religion in Asia, East Asian religions, Eastern religion, Religion in Sri Lanka. That's a clue of no need to put Religion in Sri Lanka directly in Category:Religion in Asia. Visite fortuitement prolongée (talk) 16:59, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

ANI

I have opened an ANI thread on your rapid removal of Cats. Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Removal of categories by a Visite fortuitement prolongée

I have made comment at the ANI thread - and realise that sometimes some editors can be unaware of the problems created by over-categorisation and combination adult child categories in either articles or category pages - good explanations and over-obvious ed it summaries are always helpful too SatuSuro 12:54, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Islam in France

Hello, I've reverted your 2nd removal of the citation of "Western Civilization: Beyond Boundaries" in the Islam in France article.

I have no idea if there is a problem with this citation or not, but if you are going to remove it, please give a reason; preferably on the article's talk page.

the map on the eurabia-page

dear vfp,

i have some issues about the map you created on the eurabia-page. the map is fully appropriate on pages about european islam, but not on the pages of conspiracy theories. i think it's undue. do you have any strong opinions about keeping it? -- mustihussain  11:38, 12 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,
No, I have no "strong opinions about keeping it". However:
  • I think that "images are an important part of any article's presentation" in an encyclopedia, as writen in Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Images;
  • the map is currently the only illustration of the article; do you know some other picture which could fit? the picture in http://oyvindstrommen.be/2011/11/06/profeten-peder-jensen/ is likely not free;
  • the map is at least moderatly relevant since it show the actual percentage of Muslims in Europe, debunking some parts of the Eurabia thesis;
  • the map is not very different from "Eurabia: The Euro-Arab Axis"'s cover;
  • why would you delete this map? why do you think that "the map is [not] appropriate [...] on the pages of conspiracy theories"?
By the way, have you seen Paul Moreira's "Islam, Antéchrist et jambon beurre"? Visite fortuitement prolongée (talk) 22:41, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
dear vfp, thanks for the reply. i don't think that the map appropriate as the theme is a conspiracy theory, and not european demographics. the map thus becomes quite misleading. the pictures you found on øyvind strømmens' page is much more appropriate. you could mail him and ask for the sources. haven't read or seen anything produced by paul moreira, however, i am reading strømmen's latest book, published by cappelen-damm, an eye-opener indeed.-- mustihussain  22:55, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

hi, could you please translate the quote you added here? -- altetendekrabbe  09:30, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. PS: done. Please check my translation. Visite fortuitement prolongée (talk) 20:40, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
here is my suggestion (dunno if it's good enough though):
"What is outrageous and unacceptable in Bat Ye'or's approach, is to see her reproducing an intellectual conspiracy-theory, a shameless propaganda, a way of thinking which she herself was a victim of, as well as millions of her coreligionists. Because, basically, these cries of outrage are not very different than "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion", this hoax created by the tsarist police in order to demonize the Jews, all jews. It mimics, in some way, "The Jewish France", the book of the nineteenth century anti-Semitic journalist Edward Drumont who suggested that his country was dominated by Jews."
what do you think?-- altetendekrabbe  21:08, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This sound better than mine. Visite fortuitement prolongée (talk) 21:33, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
suggest you include it then. by the way, did you read strømmen's new book?-- altetendekrabbe  22:16, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Visite fortuitement prolongée (talk) 20:33, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I have buy and read The dark web. Many thanks to you (for pointing it to me) and to Actes Sud (for translating and publishing it). However, I have not yet read Strømmen's paper to the 22/07 commission. And I made here a request for translation from German. Visite fortuitement prolongée (talk) 20:33, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
great, glad you liked it. make good use of it as well. a lot of relevant info in that book. the bat ye'or-page needs to be written according to neutral point of view.-- altetendekrabbe  21:54, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

sources

dear visit,

what shall we do with the adi schwartz-source? right now, it is only used to quote wistrich while it should have quoted bat ye'or's nonsense (after all she is the subject of his piece). regarding the gilbert-source, i agree with you that it has to go. it seems that he actually believes that "eurabia" is a reality, rather than a conspiracy theory. i can take it to rs/n if you want.-- altetendekrabbe  23:01, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

user shrike removed schwartz along with sifaoui. schwartz was just a waste of space, dunno about sifaoui. he does not look like a reliable source to me, but perhaps you have additional info? anyway, gilbert is worse, as he, unlike schwartz and sifaoui, believes in bat ye'or's fantasies.-- altetendekrabbe  20:27, 19 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
i didn't remove sifaoui and my knowledge of the guy is non-existent. why not take it to the rs/n? that would clear things up. anyways, i suggest to remove the gilbert sources, like you initially suggested. "believers" are not reliable sources, especially when they believe in conspiracy theories.-- altetendekrabbe  21:05, 19 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
but why don't you take sifaoui to the rs/n? you know the author, his work, his affiliation to cnrs and so on. the rest of us dunno much about the man.-- altetendekrabbe  22:15, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

September 2012

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Islam in Europe. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware, Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made; that is to say, editors are not automatically "entitled" to three reverts.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Darkness Shines (talk) 08:51, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Visite

Thanks for your message. My prime interest at Wikipedia is the Bosnian War and its aftermath and in particular the Srebrenica Genocide article and the ongoing Wikipedia conflicts involving attempts to deny and minimise the genocide. Given limited time available, my interest in the Counterjihad movement has to remain a secondary consideration and stay focused mainly on Counterjihad support for the Srebrenica genocide denial efforts. I'm not interested in drawing special attention to the Counterjihad movement as a whole in the current conflicts over the Genocide Denial section as I am to ensure that its significance in the denial "alliance", as represented by Geller and Trifkovic in particular, is not overlooked. Srdja Trifkovic is the most obvious participant, given his membership of the Karadzic kitchen cabinet during the genocide itself and his ongoing mobilisation of anti-Islamic sentiment in the Serb cause, but Geller has clearly been the most publicly influential member of the group. If I had time I'd be taking more part in the wider Counterjihad discussions, but at least for the time being my main focus has to stay on the Srebrenica Genocide article, with which I've been involved for a number of years and is a routine target for parties with an agenda. It just happens that it's currently the target for the post-Breivik damage-limitation squad, trying to limit exposure of Geller's more extravagant views (part of the general Counterjihad clean-up after Breivik ended the era of "anything goes"). But don't hesitate to contact me any time anything interesting comes up. All the best. Opbeith (talk) 21:38, 13 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Edit-warring

Hi. You are aware that you are relentlessly edit-warring at the article? Subsuming reliably sourced material from the three leading French newspapers under totally unrelated comments is so WP:SYN that one wonders whether your unfamiliarity with WP rules or your bias is the bigger problem. I see you have been blocked two times for one full month at the French WP - intransigeance is not really appreciated by the French admins either, I guess.

As an aside, I don't object principally against your racism against <insert people> as you may believe. Fill these sections with reliable material based on WP guidelines and everything is fine concerning me. What I object to is this WP:IDONTLIKEIT attitude of removing or downplaying the racism against one particular group. If this continues, I may be inclined to address the noticeboard for ethnic problems; I am not sure if they are that patient with your intransigeance in a matter so sensitive. Best thing btw is you avoid following around me altogether, nothing good ever comes of this. Gun Powder Ma (talk) 19:50, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I am waiting your apologies for claiming that I made "unexplained removal of reliably sourced contents". Visite fortuitement prolongée (talk) 21:58, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
