De Villiers has scored 28 centuries for South Africa.

Abraham Benjamin de Villiers (more commonly known as AB de Villiers) is a South African cricketer and captain of the South African One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) teams.[1] A right-handed batsmanwicket-keeper, he has scored centuries (100 or more runs in a single innings) in Test and ODI matches on fifteen and thirteen occasions respectively. He reached the top of the International Cricket Council Test batting rankings in March 2012.[2]

De Villiers made his Test debut in December 2004 against England, scoring 28 and 15.[3] He made his first Test century the following month, scoring 109 in the drawn fifth Test in the same series.[4] De Villiers' first double century came in April 2008 against India when he scored 217 not out in a man-of-the-match performance in Ahmedabad.[5] As of February 2013, he has scored 15 Test centuries and holds the record for the second-highest individual score by a South African batsman, with 278 not out against Pakistan, after Hashim Amla's 311 not out in 2012.[6]

De Villiers' ODI debut was in February 2005 against England, where he scored 20 in a tied match.[7] It was over two years later that he made his first ODI century in another man-of-the-match performance, scoring 146 against the West Indies in Grenada at the 2007 Cricket World Cup.[8] As of February 2013, this remains his highest ODI score. In his thirteen ODI centuries, De Villiers has scored the ninth-fastest century in the format; he hit 102 not out against India off 58 balls in Ahmedabad in February 2010.[9] Making his first T20I appearance in 2006, de Villiers has yet to score a century in the format.[10] As of February 2013, his highest score is 79 not out which he made in a 130-run victory over Scotland in the 2009 ICC World Twenty20 tournament.[11]
