I'm old enough to remember the Orange Julius 'restaurant' (because they also served hot dogs) on 72nd St. in Manhattan. I also remember the "white powder" that went into each Julius. I don't know if it was flavoring, a thickener or maybe an emulsifier. I also don't remember any egg in it. Wasn't it originally opened to compete with Nedick's? |

Logo deletion
The logo was previously nominated for speedy deletion but there was no rationale as to what requirements the image was missing, nor was a discussion opened so I removed the nomination. Who wants to keep updating this reference... find out when or say in 2001 or 2002, whichever it may be
Assume
I assume "restaurant" is the best word to describe Orange Julius, but it still seems wrong since they don't really have food. If anyone has a better word, let's see it. Lambertman 03:59, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
Actually, they do have food. Hot dogs and such.
Pop culture reference?
Does anyone here remember the Nickelodeon show Pete&Pete? I just noticed that a drink used as a plot device in an episode or two, the Orange Lazarus, was probably an allusion to this drink(or smoothie shop?). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.84.29.236 (talk) 23:35, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
Family Guy - At the table, they mention something about something that's at the mall, and Chris says, "They also have an Orange Julius." I thought it was hilarious at the time, but, considering the nature of family guy, I can't really remember the context. If anyone knows more, it might be a good idea to include it. 64.235.140.170 (talk) 20:10, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Ingredients
I was always under the impression that Orange Julius added a raw egg to the blend (it must have changed though). Example: http://answerpool.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/344103892/m/2486093594 http://bakingsheet.blogspot.com/2005/04/imbb-14-orange-julius.html
Should it be mentioned in the original receipe?
I remember it with a raw egg, too. Used to drink it often, while growing up in 1950's California. I don't remember extra sugar being added, but maybe the vanilla is true, though I don't remember any vanilla taste. Do remember milk, raw egg, and orange juice. We made it at home, too, but it was never as smooth as what we bought there. Also, remember the red devil. That, and Chicken Delight. In fact, just last week I had a yen for some, so bought the ingredients, made some here at home, just now drank some; then came on Wiki to see if it was sold, anymore. :) -- this paragraph, by brainouty of Youtube.
Image problem
In both IE and Fx, the image obscures the line It has been a popular fruit drink for nearly eighty years. PrometheusX303 01:32, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
Johnson?
This statement from the entry needs a reference.
Orange Julius' are also referred to as Orange Johnson's in the Southeast, specifically Tennessee.
Otherwise, it should be deleted.

frozen yogurt
isn't orange julius made with frozen yogurt? according to several pages on orangejulius.com, they mention frozen yogurt, or sherbert. http://www.orangejulius.com/en-US/Press+Room/Smoothie+Popularity/default.htm
which is odd considering most copycat orange julius recipes on the internet use milk and ice cubes.

That press page is speaking about smoothies and other fruit drinks they are providing that are in addition to the original Orange Julius / Strawberry Julius they sold. Strawberry ones are made with a fruit in syrup, powered milk/egg whites, and ice. --definitely no yogurt involved. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.121.1.35 (talk) 17:12, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
Employees?
How in the world does Orange Julius employ less than 2400 to man 5700 Orange Julius locations? One of those numbers is off. CeleritasSoni (talk) 06:26, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
Probably because they franchise. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.51.194.132 (talk) 23:40, 9 June 2012 (UTC)
Shower stall for "pigeons"
- As a reaction to the accusation that eggs were not clean, Freed created a shower stall for pigeons to show that birds could indeed clean themselves.
