French language

Sorry, I'd just like to make it clear that Tina does not in fact speak French fluently. She's at best competent, but far from fluent. If you download her interviews at http://www.tinaarenaonline-france.com/ (in particular the one titled 'L'invité') you will understand.

I am not fluent so I cannot gage how fluent she is. How is she not fluent? Is it her grammar mistakes or does she struggle to say what she wants to say?

She frequently makes grammatical errors (in gender, conjugation, and vous/tu distinction) and has often lapsed into English during television appearances. She is, however, improving. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.28.73.4 (talk) 18:51, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vocal profile

Could someone help me with a 'vocal profile" for Tina? She also has an incredible range! Mseames

I agree! Tina has an awesome vocal range! Try listening to most of her "In Deep" songs and you'll know.

I wonder how many octaves can her voice reach. That would be cool to know.

Tina has a high vocal range I must say!

Impressive!

My educated guess about her range is at least 3 octaves. I'd class her as a spinto soprano or a dramatic soprano. 68.62.95.95 04:00, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn`t classify her as spinto - sound would be more like C. aguilera or Monica Naranjo than - both totally spinto sopranos - "metal - timbre". I would think "big lyric" (in between lyric and dramatic because of her lyric timbre and her big, powerful voice) and in between mezzosoprano and soprano - cause she can sing really deep also. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.218.242.104 (talk) 20:19, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tina being the highest selling artist from AUS

I have one thing to say:

Kylie Minogue......

)
  • Tina was awarded both by ARIA and the World Music Awards for being "Australia's Highest Selling Female Artist EVER".

^No it is not EVER, it is the year in which she was awarded it

Is it possible for anyone to list position of Tina's songs in music chart (ARIA and around the world)?

What country charts should be included? 68.62.95.95 04:00, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:TinaAimer1.jpg

Image:TinaAimer1.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot 02:33, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vernacular, and U.S. chart claim

The phrase "pole position" (not "poll position") means #1. I changed the sentence but if she did indeed remain at #1 for "well over a year," please change it back (with the appropriate spelling). I also changed the wording of the sentence about Mick Jones' production bringing her success on the U.S. charts, because this is not borne out by the chart figures shown here for that album. If she did indeed chart in the U.S. for this album, by all means revert that sentence and add the U.S. chartings to that album's infobox. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Abrazame (talkcontribs) 06:52, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Don't Ask sales

In this interview, it says Don't Ask sold 2 million, a bit more than the 1.3 in the bio. I know it's copied off her website tho. Thought it was interesting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ml4eYEIL9zk&feature=related —Preceding unsigned comment added by Puckeylut (talkcontribs) 12:41, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Un autre univers

Could someone say where they got the 3xPlatinum figures for Un autre univers? The SNEP website only lists it at Platinum. But they only list certifications at the end of the year, so the only way it would be possible is if it was just certified this year. But as of 2007, the SNEP website states its highest sales at Platinum. I did add that Je m'appelle Bagdad was certified Silver. http://www.disqueenfrance.com Puckeylut (talk) 18:46, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

comparison of Don't ask vs in deep which is better. I only say in deep because it has the song I want to spend my lifetime loving you.

Huh? I'm not interested in what's better but how popular they were career-wise. I love all her albums! Puckeylut (talk) 01:10, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New English language studio album 2008

I've removed 7 Lives and Songs of Love & Loss: Volume II from the article because neither have any references and therefore are not notable. They should only be added when an official announcement is made with legitimate references. Thanks, Phildev (talk) 01:26, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

One of 5 Non-French Artists to Sell a Million Copies in France False

I've seen this quoted for years and always wondered the validity of this claim. Tina has had strong sales in France. She has come close to a million selling record with "Aller plus haut" and "In Deep." However, she's one of MANY artists to claim this feat.

Other artists include ABBA (Gold), Ace of Base (Happy Nation), Mariah Carey (Music Box), Tracy Chapman's debut, Phil Collins (But Seriously, Serious Hits...Live), Cranberries (No Need to Argue), Celine Dion (Falling Into You, Let's Talk About Love), Dire Straits (Brothers in Arms, Money For Nothing, On Every Street), Dido (No Angel), Eagles (Hotel California), Fugees (the Score), Michael Jackson (Bad, Dangerous, HIStory, Thriller), Norah Jones (Come Away With Me), Madonna (the Immaculate Collection, True Blue), Moby (Play), Nirvana (Never Mind), Pink Floyd (The Wall, Wish You Were Here), Queen (Greatest Hits Vol 2), Simon & Garfunkle (Greatest Hits, The Concert in Central Park, The Definitive), Spice Girls (Spice).

This info is easily verifiable. So you see, she is not one of just 5 artists to sell a million copies in France. She's one of many respectable artists to achieve this.
