:I'm a developer, I know the changes, you don't need to explain them to me. 8.1 RTM ''is'' 8.1, the RTM stands for "release to manufacturers". It means Microsoft think they're done with any major changes and bug fixes. There will be no major changes from now until launch. There are inherently no major changes since the last preview of 8.1. RTM is not a new OS, it is a series of patches. == Whitworth University ==

Hello,

I do not know how to remove the white background and I also do not have Photoshop on my computer. Is there anyway you can do that for me please? The article is about Whitworth University

Revision as of 09:52, 19 August 2013

Welcome to my user talk page. If you want to leave me a message, please do so below. I'll try to get back to you as quickly as possible. Older discussions are kept in my 2013 archive.

Reception of MBP

So why should existing critique in the reception be removed? You bring as an argument "We are not a guide" ... we? Wikipedia? Where does it say it is against Wikipedia's rules to put the information on which display panel is fitted? Please cite them. Besides, if some bit of information is factually incorrect, cite it (I cited most of what I added), and correct it, why do you remove all of it? FelixAkk (talk) 09:44, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That's correct, Wikipedia is not a guide. It's not our job to state how a user may find the panel manufacturer, merely to state there is an issue. The factually incorrect section was the addition of "/burn-in". Burn-in does not occur on LCD screens, image persistence and defective pixels do. The term is used incorrectly in the reference you cited.  drewmunn  talk  09:52, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. So given those two corrections then I take it there is no reason to remove it. FelixAkk (talk) 16:16, 21 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Not exactly sure I get your meaning, I've just given you the reasons for my removing it.  drewmunn  talk  16:17, 21 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Users are becoming very jealous in Wikipedia.... Shitt

By reviewing a screenshot which has been uploaded 5 months ago by me i.e, File:Google Chrome Windows 8 Mode.jpg, u said (in ur talk page) that

"If an image can be made free easily, as is the case with the Google Chrome image you've recently uploaded, make it free. The entire Chrome interface is free, but the logos shown in the tab you've got open aren't. Web browsers usually show either a blank starting page, or the Wikipedia home page...." I'VE REALISED AND ADMITED IT.

But do u know due to a F**K*NG USER NAMED ViperSnake151 my file has been deleted 14 days ago, and i can't do anything to it. :( :( :( :(

IN RESPECT TO UR GUIDELINES, I THINK THE FILE THAT USER (ViperSnake151) UPLOADED i.e, File:Firefox 21 on Windows 8.PNG, HAS NOTHING OTHER THAN THE SAME MISTAKE WHICH I COMMITED {there must be blank starting page or Wikipedia home page (as per ur lines)}. I ALSO THINK HIS FILE MUST BE TAGGED FOR SPEEDY DELETION.

I think that user (ViperSnake151) is very much jealous of me and my works, due to him my file i.e, File:Firefox in Windows 8.JPG, has also been deleted. Again another firefox image which i uploaded i.e, File:Firefox 21 on Windows.PNG, has gone useless due to him.

I feel upset....... SHITTT.Himanis Das  talk 10:34, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please, remain civil. The Chrome image needed to be deleted, as you didn't upload a replacement without the copyright elements, did you? Your Firefox screenshot is non-free because it uses the Windows Aero theme, so he was right to upload a replacement. The Mozilla Firefox UI (along with its logo) is licensed into the public domain, so it's perfectly acceptable for it to use those elements. However, the Google Chrome screenshot included elements not in the public domain, as does your Firefox screenshot.  drewmunn  talk  10:40, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yup, i haven't uploaded another image replacing the Google Chrome ones which was deleted. But wott r u doing at that time when u reviewd my screenshot ^-^, u cud also have uploaded another screenshot and replaced mine ones, u said in ur talk page that "I have Windows 8 dual installed on my MBP as well" So u have Windows 8, Google chrome, Snipping tools (defaultly-installed) etc, it cud b very very easy to take a screenshot n upload it replacing my file. Hence, u see i already told u 100+ times that U ARE COMPLETELY PERMITED TO OVERLOOK AND EDIT MY WORKS AND ALSO TO DELETE IT.

Do u know i feel very happy when u moniter or edit my works in my request on anything i do.

SO, PAST IS PAST NEVER THINK ON DAT...., NOW U PLEASE TAKE A SCREENSHOT OF GOOGLE CHROME IN WINDOWS 8 MODE AND POST IT IN WIKIPEDIA, THEN U CONTACT ME I WILL OVERLOOK IT, AND DEN I WILL USE IT IN EVERY WIKIPEDIA LANGUAGES. OK ????Himanis Das  talk 11:48, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not going to do that for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I'm currently working in OS X on my MPB, and to get into Windows 8 I'd have to restart. Secondly, I've got Chrome personalised, and I'd have to reset all of that to make it the default installation. Finally, I'm not using standard Google Chrome, but Chrome Canary, which is a developer test platform, so it'd not be acceptable for an overall image. Anyway, you don't have to keep giving me permission, everyone has a right to edit anything anyone puts up (some things like User pages are a little more controlled). Just a tip, but did you know you can reply without creating a new section? Simply add one more colon (:) before your message than the message before.  drewmunn  talk  11:54, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ok i will reply like this. Firstly, if ur MBP can run a MS designed OS (Windows 8), can my HP G62 run OS X besides Windows 7 ?? If yes, i'vnt used OS X in my life tym, Will u pls become a 24x7 guide for me to use OS X or i shud stay with Windows 7 ?? Secondly, Is Chrome Canary, Firefox Aurora, Opera Next etc etc are those developer browsers ?? If it is, I'm currently using OPERA NEXT will i unistall it ?? Coz i am not a developer (u also know). Finally, as i uploaded a file which is currently the most popular in Wikipedia i.e, File:VLC 2.0.6.png, will i use my brother's lappy to take a screenshot of Chrome (stable) n take a screenshot to post it in Wikipedia (i can also make it as popular as that VLC screenshot) ??Himanis Das  talk 12:13, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Firstly, excellent! I, however, had one colon at the beginning of mine, so you needed two. Anyway, no you can't install OS X. Macs come with a special bit of software to install Windows alongside it, and OS X has software built into its installation facility that stops it being installed on anything other than Macs. There is, at the moment, an up to date screenshot of Chrome already in place, so there's no need to upload a new one at the moment. When a new major iteration is released, however, feel free.  drewmunn  talk  12:17, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Wot is "Template:chitchat" which has been created by u, is it an article to provide information ?? will i add anything to it ??115.250.207.26 (talk) 12:44, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It's a template for use on talk pages to help users who post comments in inappropriate places. At the moment, nothing needs adding to it, although I'm going to flesh out the documentation a little later.  drewmunn  talk  12:47, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Oh My God ??? Is my acount blocked ?? Why my signature is not appearing after message ?? I'm logged in.115.250.207.26 (talk) 13:04, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No, it's probably just that your browser has lost the cache that keeps you logged in. Log in again and it will be fine.  drewmunn  talk  13:08, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thnx for d help, i'm logging in into twitter, if i will give my personal mobile no. to u there, will u call me ri8 now ??Himanis Das  talk 13:18, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't do that if I were you, it'll be publicly accessible. Also, I'm not in the habit of ringing people, especially as at the moment I'm working, so it'd be from my work allowance. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them (here or Twitter, whichever you feel better suits the question).  drewmunn  talk  13:22, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hav u got my message which has my mobile no. in twitter ? I'm going to delete that msg ri8 now.Himanis Das  talk 13:34, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I've seen it, but as I said, I won't ring you because it'd come off of my business plan and international calls are hideously expensive.  drewmunn  talk  13:37, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
One thing dat dissaponits me dat u r not replying anyting to me in twitter, why ??? r u also using dis for ur job (as in FB) ?? Again as u say dat international calls are hideously expensive, don't worry i will call u atlst for 5-6 mins at nignt (not now). U also give ur mobile no. and delete the message after 2-3 mins as i did.Himanis Das  talk 14:10, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I don't reply to you on Twitter because it seems to have issues sending me notifications that you've tweeted me. I blame their database structure. Anyway, I'm not going to put my mobile number up because it'll be publicly accessible, and no matter how quickly it's deleted, it'll be cached sow here by someone, and I'll start getting cold calls which are seriously annoying when you're a one man operation.  drewmunn  talk  14:15, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
This too reveals dat u r also using Windows Vista - https://twitter.com/drewmunn/status/327521656476139520/photo/1

Template:Chitchat has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for discussion page. ViperSnake151  Talk  14:24, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers for that! Despite some quite extensive searching, I couldn't find any templates of the sort, appreciate you sorting this out.  drewmunn  talk  14:26, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Have to agree, what's this about sex? Anyway, that was a client's computer.  drewmunn  talk  15:38, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It seems Himanis has used all of his download limit, so we'll have to wait for a while to see if he's created a new gender.  drewmunn  talk  15:43, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Please be carefull User:Himanis Das, using slangs in Wikipedia is strictly prohibited. I hope User:Sonicdrewdriver is very much friendly to you as that user spares all those vandalism you do. But most of the users will not tolerate this types of messages as your friendly user did. Yesterday you have mentioned User:ViperSnake151 as jealous in his talk page, your luck is good because that user tolerated everything that you mentioned regarding him in this talk page. Just think a little bit, if that user reports you along with your messages as a complain to the administrators, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Please go through this and remain civil from now. Don't try to contact me through this user. Hammer67 (talk) 06:29, 8 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Oh My GoD

Why you users "Robsinden" and "Hammer67" are scolding me like i'm a shitt. What's gonna wrong with you guys ???

  • Robsinden - Don't you know how to message to another people in shortforms ?? Me and Drew usually gossip each other mostly regarding editing in wikipedia and sometimes regarding our personal matters. Then NEW SEX stand for NEW SECTION, i've created a new section in his talk page after the section added by ViperSnake151 because the "Reply" section has gone very big. Now you go and learn in Google regarding using shortforms. Some of the shortforms are -

U - You
Ur - Your
Den - Then
Dat - That
Nw - Now
Wer - Where

Ok ?

  • Hammer67 - Thanks for your notification, but who are you ?? Why have you created a new acount on;y to message me ?? Don't have the GUTS to message targeting me in your personal user ??

Himanis Das  talk 10:45, 8 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Drew - pls make everything clear so dat no one will come against me. PLS Himanis Das  talk 10:54, 8 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've personally never heard of "sex" being used as an abbreviation of "section", it's usually "sect" "sec" or "§". Rob didn't really scold you, just asked what you were talking about, and Hammer was ensuring you remain civil when discussing other editors. Their intentions are good, don't get angry at them for it.  drewmunn  talk  11:10, 8 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I just found it amusing. Still smiling about it now :) --Rob Sinden (talk) 12:38, 8 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Time To Moniter

20-25 mins before while i was listening to "You Want Me" a song of Justin Bieber, i decided to edit the article regarding this in Wikipedia. So, i've visited You Want Me article, there i found that there is no information except a redirecting tag to other page. SO NOW I'VE REMOVED THE REDIRECTING TAG AND ADDED SUFFICIENT INFORMATION THAT I KNOW. BUT AS U KNOW I NOTIFY U EVERYTHING I EDIT AND U OVERLOOK IT, SO HERE ALSO U MUST OVERLOOK AND EDIT THAT ARTICLE WHICH IS You Want Me.Himanis Das  talk 16:35, 8 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I know nothing about this subject, so I don't really have anything to say, other than it needs a lot more information. Individual tracks on an album usually don't have articles of their own unless they are highly notable, which I have a feeling this song isn't. On top of that, the redirect was in place because it was a much more notable song by another artist, so I expect the redirect will be re-established and the content you've added removed. Ask the contributors at WikiProject Music for their opinions.  drewmunn  talk  16:42, 8 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

And how to add a "talkback" in a user's talk page ? I mean that blue borderd notification which says "Hi xxx, You have new messages at xxxx's talk page" ??

Himanis Das  talk 17:36, 9 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It looks... the same as it does on every other OS? Anyway, Talkback can be added by transcluding the talkback template.  drewmunn  talk  17:58, 9 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes it does in every OS, Thnx i got it i.e, how 2 add a talkback. But that page u mentioned i.e, talkback template, is a template which provides information how 2 add talkback. But what does urs created template i.e, Template:chitchat, does ??Himanis Das  talk 06:27, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
To use any template, you transclude it (for instance {{talkback}} for talkback, but add the relevant parameters) or substitute it (ie {{subst:talkback}} again for talkback). My template works exactly the same way, although it turns out there's already one for the job.  drewmunn  talk  06:41, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

New

Do u know, a beta version of iOS 7 has been leaked to the developers by the company Apple. But as u said u r a developer, why don't u try that OS ??Himanis Das  talk 10:48, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There has been no leak, it's officially available. I don't have an iPhone, and the iPad beta is not yet finished, so I'm unable to access it. Anyway, I'm not currently subscribed to the iOS or OS X Dev Center, only the Safari Dev Center at the moment. I'm a member of the Microsoft Developer Network, and that's where I get my stuff from, but Apple aren't Microsoft...  drewmunn  talk  11:57, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

TIME to MaKe A GrEaT EdITiNg

I feel proud of myself that i've found a great mistake in most reputed article named United States, do u know in that country English is not the only official language there is also the presence of Spanish. I derived the information from Languages of United States, i saw that there is 80% English and 20% Spanish working. BUT IN THE ARTICLE IT IS WRITTEN THAT ENGLISH WAS THE ONLY NATIONAL LANGUAGE. Some other informations are also found on other articles i.e, in Texas, New Mexico, El Paso etc there is more concentration of Spanish.

So let us edit it, what about dat idea ??Himanis Das  talk 12:57, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I can't really comment on that matter, I don't know whether Spanish is an official language or just one spoken by a large portion of people in the country.  drewmunn  talk  13:50, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I edited the article n added "Spanish" as "Recognised regional languages", LET'S SEE WOTT HAPENS FURTHER.Himanis Das  talk 14:10, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
In future, start an RfC if you're not sure. Wikipedia isn't meant to contain content that isn't sourced, so you should ideally find a site that lists Spanish as a recognised language, rather than a popular one.  drewmunn  talk  14:12, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
My edit was suddernly deleted by an user Golbez, he wrote in summary that "if you're referring to spanish being official in a state, you at the very least omitted Hawaiian". Now wott do u mean by dis ???Himanis Das  talk 16:41, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure. As I said, I don't know anything about the subject so I can't comment on it. I'm assuming they know something about it. Ask them for more information if you feel they reverted something that should have stayed in place.  drewmunn  talk  16:50, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That doesn't really prove anything, and it's not notable enough for an include. As I've said before, changes to pre-release versions are common, and sometimes whole themes can disappear in nightly builds. Until it's officially announced by Microsoft, or evident on a public release, there isn't enough evidence to include it.  drewmunn  talk  09:42, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No, never give your password to anyone. Also, you don't want it to function as a bot. They're designed to perform certain tasks, such as signing comments, cleaning up vandalism, etc, and are not 'people'. People create separate accounts that work as bots, and they must be cleared by admin before they can be used.  drewmunn  talk  16:05, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
MY ACOUNT MY RULES, I havn't gave my paswords of Wikipedia, Facebook, Twitter etc to anyone. As u helpd me a lot in bth Wikipedia and other cases inc. maths prbm, CGI etc etc, u r only permitd to use my wikipedia acount not other. But will i run a Bot ?? Or it is of no need ??Himanis Das  talk 16:18, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Don't give your password to anyone, no matter how much you trust them. Interception is surprisingly easy on almost any messaging platform, so not only do you have to worry about them mistreating your personal information, but the fact that anyone can get hold of it with a bit of patience and some cheap software. You have no need for a bot, they are used to perform actions hundreds or thousands of times a day. People don't just think "I'll create a bot today", they think "I need a bot to do something for me so I, or other people, don't have to do it."  drewmunn  talk  19:58, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page PC (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

NOW U TELL ME WOTT CAN I DO ?? WEN SUM1 SENDS ME WARNING, I BECOME ANGRYHimanis Das  talk 11:33, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I looked over the article, and earmarked it for assessment by the relevant body. I didn't check every link on the page, because that's tedious, I checked for redlines (of which there were none, well done!). The DPL bot found that you have linked to a disambiguation page, so it informed you, because most of the time people do so mistakenly. It's not a warning, just a pointer to the fact that you linked to a page you didn't mean to. Correcting it is simple, all you need to do is change the [[PC]] to [[Microsoft Windows|PC]] and you're sorted! Don't think everything is a warning or a threat. DPL bot is designed so users don't have to check the tedious, difficult things themselves. Almost every editor who makes major changes to the page will get a DPL bot message at some point, it's not a bad thing; I've had them a few times, and all that happens is I correct the mistake and delete the message from my talk page.  drewmunn  talk  11:41, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for all the barnstars! I've removed the one that doesn't actually apply to me (I'm not an administrator). Barnstars were introduced as a way of thanking people for doing something useful or productive on Wikipedia, and each one is a way of thanking people for different things. The Admin's Barnstar is for administrators who have performed a certain task or made a difficult decision. The Original is for good work, the Anti-Vandalism for ensuring only useful content remains (usually in heavily or persistently vandalised articles), the Diligence for scrutiny and community service, and the Diplomacy for those who resolve conflicts. I'm not sure I'm all of them, and it's customary for a single one to be selected, but thanks all the same!  drewmunn  talk  10:27, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your "leg"?

Hello, Drew.

Sometimes it is very difficult to understand Himanis Das. Talk:IOS 7#Informations regarding Criticism says your leg has been pulled out! None of the metaphors that I know of applies to this case. The rest of the message seems to make sense at first, until I look at the article history and find no trace of what I understood from the message. Do you have any idea?

Best regards,
Codename Lisa (talk) 10:55, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. You have received an Admin Barnstar? Best regards, Codename Lisa (talk) 10:58, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I know right! I've replied to his message at the iOS 7 talk page. Thanks,  drewmunn  talk  09:37, 17 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Oh, was that case? I thought it was much more serious. I mean as long as your leg is firmly within its socket, a content dispute cannot be that bad. (Believe me, I know how it is to have one's leg dislodged.) Best regards, Codename Lisa (talk) 21:40, 17 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Lisa, read the rest of this Talk page and all shall become as clear as a black hole. Gaze and despair! Abandon all hope, ye who enter here! o m g. etc — Smuckola (Email) (Talk) 18:47, 17 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for late reply, i was quite absent during these busy days. Yes, Lisa, i assume that you are not a Indian also you don't know anything about me, but i tell you that each and every Indian is bound to study atleast 2 languages at the beginning (mostly English and Hindi). As of me i know 4 languages i.e, Oriya, Hindi, English and Sanskrit. Anyways "Pulling leg" (Hindi: Tang khinchna) is a sentence used in Hindi, it usually means when a person pressurizes another person to do a particular work (as this thing happened exactly with Drew, hence when you said my message don't makes sense, it is hard to understand me, do you know in Hindi it can be described in one sentence i.e, Chotta muh, badi baath (English: Small mouth but big sentence), I'm sorry for you but Sach, Sach hota hai (English: Truth is Truth), ask Drew he will also say this. Also You had really did a wonderful and praising job by advising me to learn more English, because i can only speak fluent Oriya and Hindi but not English. Anyways you must not feel something bad on me, Ok ?Himanis Das  talk 12:08, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

And Smuckola, you don't have any rights to say anything else regarding this talk page because whenever i get problem while editing in Wikipedia regarding uploading image, creating article, adding section in article etc, first i message Drew in this talk page, he advises me what to do or what not to do, finally i start working on those articles. Most of the works of mine you see in Wikipedia are done due to the guidance only. Last but not the least, i advise you to stop criticizing and start helping new comers as i also did once to Bryce.Himanis Das  talk 12:08, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm Back from those busy days

Hi. As i got admission in MPS BBSR as a college student of commerce, i will be busy in my studies, i have to slowdown editing Wikipedia articles and messaging you for a while. Of course! i may message you voraciously during my holidays.

So i edited my main user page and tagged {{Busyweekdays}} in it, i have also added much userboxes in reference to me. Also i have assigned a 'new smiley' to my signature by adding just a code in the last of my signature i.e, {{wink}}, Now u must add {{wink}} to the first or last of ur signature in HTML language, also don't forget to check my new made user page here.

Also as u said u r running Chrome Canary, i decided to download it today and test it, i saw Google has packed a new feature with it, pls see the picture- https://twitter.com/HimanisPinnu/status/348335705916841984/photo/1 and update urs to get the most of it.Himanis Das  talk 07:31, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, well done! I'm not going to add smileys; they have a purpose, and I think using them in every message is overuse. Secondly, Chrome updates every time it opens, so I've got the latest version anyway.  drewmunn  talk  08:58, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

THE COMPUTER PROGRAM THAT WILL MAKE YOU A MILLIONARE !

You had done a superb work by taking a screenshot of Visual Studio in Windows 8. Do u know the image which was originally posted by u i.e, File:Visual Studio 2012 EN.png, was currently assigned as main screenshot in infobox of Microsoft Visual Studio article. I have cropped, reduced the resolution of that image so that it will not violate any laws. NOW YOUR WORK IS TO TAKE A LOOK AND EDIT THE IMAGE IF SOME INFORMATION HAS BEEN MISSED-OUT BY ME.Himanis Das  talk 10:47, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for that, although it should be noted that the code shown is in fact VB, not C#.  drewmunn  talk  10:50, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I seriously don't know nothing about that, coz i'm not in your job, it is your work then you must add additional information regarding it, unless u add sufficient information, the file may be orphaned (as i hope but not sure). So, edit that image and add as much information as u can.Himanis Das  talk 11:13, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
All that needs changing is "C#" to "Visual Basic".  drewmunn  talk  11:21, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Done btwn will i add anything else that stephan had added in the old image i.e, File:Vs2012 RTM en IDE.png, according to him the source code was copyright protected, now the question arises will i assign the work as copyright protected by you ?? I think it must be copyrighted because it belongs to your job as you have mentioned "the program that will make u millionare".

Anyways pls read this, it was assigned by stephan

"Source Code[edit] License for the source code displayed (DotNetWikiBot Framework): DotNetWikiBot Framework 2.100 - bot framework based on Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 for wiki projects Distributed under the terms of the MIT (X11) license: http://www.opensource.org/licenses/mit-license.php Copyright (c) Iaroslav Vassiliev (2006-2012) codedriller@gmail.com"

The code itself is humorous, so I'm more than happy for it to be made available on CC license. I'll put a note on the image page, and if further proof is required, I'll give it when it's requested.  drewmunn  talk  12:01, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Fine, now the work may be completely handled by you as i already left it. Anyways will i search for another file in ur twitter acount and upload it in Wikipedia like i did ??Himanis Das  talk 12:16, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Feel free, although please note that I maintain copyright on most of my photos, so it's best to check with me first if I'm willing to release a particular work. Most of my photography work can be licensed through Getty Images, although commercial licensing is not suitable for Wikipedia.  drewmunn  talk  12:37, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

I am surprised that you haven't set up and entire archive section for your new friend Drew. How you been? -- MisterShiney 08:43, 24 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am thinking I might need a "2013 part II" soon! Anyway, I'm good (except for this blasted pollen that seems to have jumped at the chance to inflict misery the second the sun appears)! Work's been quite busy, so I've not been on here much, although I seem to be on top of it now. How about you?  drewmunn  talk  09:08, 24 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
MisterShiney - How can you think he is my friend even knowingly that Drew is very much elder to me ? He may be my bro, What about you Drew ?

Again, as i said that i will be busy with my studies, so i'm unable to reply to your message, yes the photos you have posted in twitter belongs to different licenses, but as u said me feel free, i searched most of those photos but i found most of them belongs to your personal experiment like Facebook images, Strawberry milkshake, how your home looks in autumn etc. You must post photos that are similar to that Visual Studio photo which i posted.

Also, have you watched the final (India Vs. England) of the last 2013 ICC Champions Trophy which has gone live in Edgbaston stadium in Birmingham, England on 23rd June ?? I've watched the full match in Star Cricket HD, do you know that India won the last and the final ICC Champions Trophy by defeating England by 5 runs.

Here is the score of both the countries

  • England - 124/8 (20 overs)
  • India - 129/7 (20 overs)

Himanis Das  talk 12:12, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As I've said, I'm not into sport. As far as posting photos go, I use Twitter for social media, so I don't post images there thinking "that'd be good for Wikipedia". Unless you feel like creating a Strawberry Milkshake article, or maybe one on the seasonal changes to suburban environments in Hampshire, then my photos aren't going to be of much use. If something's likely to be useful on Wikipedia, that's where I put it (see my contributions here, here, and here, amongst others).  drewmunn  talk  12:20, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Please don't get angry (as i predicted), England also defeated India many a times before this final match, anyways i may not create the Strawberry Milkshake article as the article already exists by the name Strawberry milk, now the question arises, will i post that image in wiki assigning to that article ??Himanis Das  talk 12:38, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No, it's nowhere near high enough quality. My suggestion that it could be included was simply a humorous observation. Anyway, I wouldn't get angry about cricket; I don't watch it, follow it, and I'm not patriotic when it comes to that sort of thing. I'm completely indifferent.  drewmunn  talk . 12:41, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
PS: Strawberry Milk and Strawberry Milkshake are two different things.  drewmunn  talk  12:50, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers for that,i will get over those a bit latter, anyways have u monitored my new uploaded image which is of iOS 7 Beta 2 ?? It was assigned in iOS 7 article or u may find out here, File:IOS 7 Home Screen.png, hows it ??Himanis Das  talk 13:06, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've seen it thanks. My only issue is that it contains many copyright elements from different authors that aren't technically necessary for display, along with the fact that it may run foul of our WP:Software screenshots section on pre-release software if Softpedia isn't deemed to be a notable source.  drewmunn  talk  13:12, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Lets see wot happens, anyways can i add additional information to it so that it will not violate any laws ?? Again, i saw i twitter that a cold caller is calling u n disturbing, who iz he ?? Also, i find dynammo (magical films) interesting.Himanis Das  talk 13:32, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It's likely that the earlier one will be re-instated because of the multi-holder copyright issue, and the inbuilt reliability of it, and there's nothing you can do to change that. Anyway, it's just a cold caller, we get a lot in the UK. I put them on hold and see how long they last before hanging up. As far as Dynamo goes, he's a very bland magician, and I can work out how most of his tricks are done because they're fairly traditional ones wrapped in sparkles. I find illusionists like Derren Brown far more interesting, especially his work like Apocalypse and The Heist.  drewmunn  talk  13:38, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, Dynamo is a quite bland magician, therefore i watch his episodes sometimes, and yes, Derren Brown is a very good illusionist, i sometimes see his episodes in Discovery HD channel. Heehhhehh! we also get cold calls in India but they are not from the people, they are received from computer oriented programs internationally. Do u know, once if we will answer to their calls, it will be automatically rejected by the server and then a huge amount of money will be deducted from our account like Credit card, Mobile balance etc. Simply add those nos. into blacklists. Also, do u Windows 8.1 preview will be made publicly available by Microsoft tomorrow, as the Build Conference is going to be held. This tym it will be available in 2 platforms, firstly, it will be available in Windows Store (only for upgradation from Windows 8 systems) and secondly it will be available in .ISO file (for clean installation). So i advice u to install that OS then take snapshots of different softwares and tweet me or post them in wiki in their respective articles, finally i will look over them.Himanis Das  talk 14:18, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'll download it only if I feel it is a stable enough platform, and then I'll spend a day or so running diagnostics on it. I never just download that kind of update without being sure it will support my framework and not disrupt my ongoing work. I'll also only post an image if the EULA doesn't forbid it; although many people break such terms, it's not in my best interest to get banned from the developer program.  drewmunn  talk  14:48, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Why ??

When i visited Ludopedia's user page from ur talk page, i saw a new code that explains the time, date, no. of articles in English Wikipedia and the no. of users online. I planned to use this in both of our user pages. So, i did mine work, u may see here. Then when i added that in your user page, it was suddenly removed by u without reason. Why ?? Don't u like it, IT SEEMS VERY COOL. ;) :) Himanis Das  talk 15:25, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I was nothing to do with the delete; in fact, I was blissfully unaware any editing had even occurred until now. Having read Rob's reply, I see that you've been told about editing in the user namespace, so I won't cover that again. However cool it looks, I don't really want it on my page at this time; the stats are available on the English Wikipedia page if I need to check them!  drewmunn  talk  15:28, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What is MSDN ???

Do u know Windows 8.1 is out now, but till now it is only available as an update in Windows store for the people those who run Windows 8/RT. As u already know that i'm using Windows 7, so i cant update like this way, i can only deploy that OS into my laptop if there is a ".ISO" file, but the file is not currently availablr in Microsoft's own site.

Hence, i searched in torrents i found this link which has the file i.e - http://thepiratebay.sx/torrent/8617941/Windows_8.1_Preview_-_en_-_%28x86-x64%29

I remain confused, so i commented on that torrent that "Microsoft has not released the ".ISO" file for installation yet and this may be fake"

Suddenly an user in that site tagged me and said "it is a MSDN iso"

Now, i must ask u what is that ?? U may visit that site and read all cmnts, and yes my user name in that site is "maha609", read my comments and don't get confused, OK ?Himanis Das  talk 10:45, 27 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

MSDN is the Microsoft Developer Network. It's what developers sign up to for access to the tools and certificates needed to develop applications for Windows. I'm part of it, and according to my account, the ISO files aren't yet available, but will be within 24 hours.  drewmunn  talk  11:31, 27 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that, "nikita200" a user in that torrent site also told me the same thing, she posted a link on comment box of that torrent page, as i redirected to it, by searching, i found that the .ISO file has been released. But how can u say that it will be available within 24 hours, it is available now. Go to the below link and see
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/downloads/#searchTerm=&ProductFamilyId=511&Languages=en&PageSize=10&PageIndex=0&FileId=0
Himanis Das  talk 13:19, 27 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Because I'm in the UK, not the US. Mine is also now available, but only in the last hour or so.  drewmunn  talk  13:22, 27 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Shett ! I'm unable to download that, i created a new acount, signed in, after that it says this thing -

"There is no subscription associated with your Microsoft account. Add a subscription to this account."

Please do something to download, cant u post a link for downloading and after that delete this section ??Himanis Das  talk 13:36, 27 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I am not breaking my MSDN contract and risking action being taken against me by posting a copy of the file anywhere. I signed a contract with Microsoft, and if I break it, I risk losing access to the tools I require for my job.  drewmunn  talk  13:40, 27 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, ur wish :) Now i have only 1 way to download that file that is from the torrent site using BitComet. Hence, i will get back to u soon after installation. :) Himanis Das  talk 13:54, 27 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

My Money, Time all gone in vain :( :'(

Hi. As i said above i will download the OS from that torrent file, i have made it on the go, now it is stuck at 59.1% which is 1.57 GB completed out of 2.60 GB. Do u know, to complete upto this, it has taken 20 Hours 53 Minutes and 48 Seconds. Hence, i've controled it with my patience.

But, today 6 mins ago i've visited the original Microsoft site which allows us to download the ISO file directly i.e - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/preview-download

Note: Before today perhaps, the site used to say "ISO files are not currently available and it will be acailable later"

But now it allowed people to download the ISO file from that site (u please visit it now, u will also feel the same).

I'M REALLY SHOCKED AND NOW PERHAPS I'M CRYING, COZ IN THE MICROSOFT SITE THE ISO FILE OF THE OS IN "English 32-bit (x86)" IS 2.8 GB, BUT THE FILE WHICH I'VE DOWNLOADED FROM THE TORRENT FILE IS 2.60 GB.

ALAS! I HOPE I'VE LOST ALL MY TIME AND MAY BE MONEY COZ 1.57 GB MAY COST Rs. 200 ALL AOUND INDIA THROUGH RILIANCE LTD.

PLEASE FIND SOME INFORMATION AND TELL. I'VE CURRENTLY LOST ALL MY HOPES. :( :( :( :(

I THINK MSDN AND OTHER SHITTS ARE FOOLS COZ THE FILE IN TORRENT MAY NOT BE FALSE AS I'VE SEEN THE SIZE OF THE FILE IN THAT MSDN SITE WHICH IS ALSO 2.60 GB.

Himanis Das  talk 18:01, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, MSDN are not fools. I am part of it, and believe me, we are the most knowledgable people when it comes to anything to do with Microsoft. Torrents are simply people seeding files of dubious (and almost always illegal) origins that are potentially riddled with viruses and spyware. They were the risks you ran when downloading a torrent, and you can't say you didn't expect something dodgy to happen one day. I can't personally comment on the matter in hand, not having seen the two files in detail (I have downloaded 8.1 from MSDN, but am yet to install it), but it's possible that they are other builds, or that a different rounding was used. It's more than likely that the torrent contains extra, nasty code that you don't want, but that's one of the risks of downloading illegally!  drewmunn  talk  18:50, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please Help Me :'(

Finally u came to know that i've already downloaded and installed Windows 8.1 Preview, I guarantee u that this also cud not save Microsoft from speedy declining. Anyways, everything looks fine but I'M IN A WORST SITUATION.

AS U KNOW I'M USING 3G DONGLE FOR INTERNET WHICH IS INTEX 3.5G SPEED V7.2, IT DOESN'T SUPPORT IN WINDOWS 8.1, IT WAS ALSO NOT INSTALLED IN WINDOWS 8 "AS U KNOW MY BRO RUNS IT".

I INSTALLED THOSE DRIVERS IN COMPATIBILITY MODE BY SELECTING "WINDOWS 7", THIS ALSO FAILED. I ALSO SEARCHED MORE 2-3 DAYS IN THE INTERNET REGARDING THIS MATTER BUT I CANT FIND ANY OF THEM USEFULL, I'M CURRENTLY IN CYBERCAFE.

PLEASE HELP ME, I'M INGR8 DANGER NOW, I'VE TO COMPLETE MY ASSIGNMENT AND TILL NOW ITS NOT TOTALLY COMPLETED, THOSE ASSIGNMENT CARRIES MARKS AND OFFERS PROMOTION.

I ALSO CAN'T EVEN SWITCH TO WINDOWS 7 OR ANY OTHER AS I DON'T HAVE THE BOOTING FILE OF THEM.

PLEASE HELP ME.Himanis Das  talk 13:29, 1 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There's not much I can do to help, sorry! When installing a preview update or OS you should always ensure you have the ability to roll back. I personally clone my hard drive so I have a bootable version ready in case I need it. Downloading previews of software, especially an operating system, is not without risk, and Microsoft clearly state the risks involved with installing 8.1. You can see why I perform such stringent checks on my system before I install now, and my only suggestion is that you find someone with installation media for 7. You will have the product key, so you just need the corresponding media to install it. Also, what do you mean by "I guarantee u that this also cud not save Microsoft from speedy declining"?  drewmunn  talk  13:51, 1 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm yet to tell that, sorry for late reply as my time was over in that cyber cafe, anyways do u know Microsoft has removed all the default inbuilt graphics driver signatures which was included in Windows 8 and earlier versions (especially more in Windows 8), that's why people prefer Windows 8 coz it detects and installs the graphics drivers automatically in respect to the hardware, but in Windows 8.1 it isn't, which will make people annoyed, so they will start disliking it.
If u r running Windows 8.1 now, please right click on "This PC", then click on "Manage" option, the "Computer Management" window will open, then click on "Device Manager" option, when it opens, collapse the "Display Adapter" group and see, i assume that there it will be "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter", right click on it, select "Browse my computer for driver software" option, then select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers from my computer", at last un-check "Show compatible hardware" AND U WILL FIND THAT THERE IS NO INBUILT DRIVERS FOR OTHER COMPANIES (AS IT WAS INCLUDED IN WINDOWS 8) EXCEPT MICROSOFT.
Thats y i told that "I guarantee u that this also cud not save Microsoft from speedy declining".Himanis Das  talk 13:46, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Of course there are no drivers yet, this is a pre-release! I take it you've not had experience of pre-release OSs before, but you don't get anything beyond generic drivers for the most part; these are developed either by, or alongside, the hardware manufacturers, and aren't ready for the developer preview. That's why the previews exist; for companies to make drivers.  drewmunn  talk  13:50, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, U r correct i haven't had much experience but ive tried Windows Developer Preview nd Windows Consumer Preview. Anyways my problem with that 3G USB dongle has been resolved successfully, Ive contacted the dealer who served the intex dongle to me, he said that he had already received many complains regarding this matter and provided me a site to download latest drivers, it is - http://www.intextechnologies.com/webpages/download-driver.aspx
At last my prblm solved, ive downloaded the correct driver i.e of 3.5G Speed Datacard v7.2, i installed it and it works fine now.Himanis Das  talk 14:08, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
There's a reason that even the publicly available betas include a large warning stating only advanced users should install, and even we know we have to run serious checks before installation.  drewmunn  talk  14:16, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Firstly, answer to my question which i tweeted u in twitter, secondly, pls monitor a new screenshot of File Explorer which i'm going to post in Wikipedia.Himanis Das  talk 14:52, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Any chance I could see this screenshot, or do I have to guess its contents? If it's taken in 8.1, and is meant to replace one taken in 8, you cannot do that. The most recent stable release (which is 8) is the one that should be used to depict, and screenshots taken in preview builds should only be used where examples of the difference needs to be illustrated. For instance, the Microsoft Windows main screenshot should be of 8, not 8.1, and a screenshot of 8.1 may only be included as illustration of the beta release, not as a replacement.  drewmunn  talk  14:56, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that, u r right, and answer to my question qhich i tweeted u.Himanis Das  talk 15:14, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A DISASTER RECENTLY HAPPENED

Do u know when i set to edit Google Chrome article for assigning my new uploaded image i.e, File:Google Chrome Metro Mode.png, when i clicked on edit option, a disaster happened infront of my eyes.

See the image and u'll automatically understand wott happened - https://twitter.com/HimanisPinnu/status/352331633375977472/photo/1

Thanks god that there is a "Edit source" option between "Edit" and "View history". Otherwise we would had say bye bye to Wikipedia.Himanis Das  talk 07:46, 3 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It's called Visual Editor, and it's been around for a while. It was rolled out across English Wikipedia to all users on July 1st, and it's meant to make it easier to edit without learning too much Wikimarkup. However, if you don't like it, you can disable it by checking the top box in the Editing section of the Gadgets tab in your Preferences.  drewmunn  talk  07:50, 3 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not going to disable it, coz i wanna see how it works, newez ive uploaded 2 screenshots of Google Chrome in the respective article i.e 1st image in the infobox and the 2nd in the "Metro version" section.Himanis Das  talk 09:52, 3 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Make doubly sure when using Visual Editor to check your edits don't break anything; it can be slightly buggy in some situations. Once you've saved an edit, check the article over to ensure it does works correctly still.  drewmunn  talk  10:05, 3 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, but i'll use it frequently coz i enjoy more editing articles using wikimarkup as it develops my knowledge in HTML, anyways hav u visited Google Chrome article to check my uploaded files ?? See the image in the infobox and the image assigned in "Metro version" section.Himanis Das  talk 10:14, 3 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Need Your Help

As u know i'm currently a college student, today our teacher advised us to prepare a project on "The foundations of counting numbers", i literally have no idea, but i know that in brief the teacher had given us the question "in which country were those counting numbers like 1,2,3,4.... originated and who is the founder of those ?"

Do u know nething else about these, or is there ne articles in Wikipedia ??Himanis Das  talk 13:52, 5 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have little knowledge of the history of such things, but the following may be useful"
  • I know that certain aboriginal tribes only understand the number 1; they have no idea of anything above that. I believe I got that fact from The Story of One, a documentary on the number.
  • The article Prehistoric numerals may be of interest. Remember, when writing reports, you should use the sources in the Wikipedia article to cite as references, not the article itself.
  • Similarly, the article on the Tally stick may be useful.
  • Finally, try Numerical digit and Positional notation articles.
I hope that's helpful!  drewmunn  talk  13:59, 5 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, this is wot i need, only some points r required, which i can freely do it, n yes i will mention wikipedia as a reference, thnx a lot.112.79.36.129 (talk) 15:07, 5 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That's the opposite of what I said; don't list Wikipedia as a reference, list the sources it cites.  drewmunn  talk  16:45, 5 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Done Did the entire work yesterday ni8 n today signed it by our teacher. Newez create an article by the name "iWork for iCloud Beta" coz gonna upload this file - https://twitter.com/drewmunn/status/352380446669156352/photo/1

That screenshot would not pass the Fair Use requirements, as it is not necessary to demonstrate the content of an article. Also, any content on iWork for iCloud would go on the iWork article page, not have a new page.  drewmunn  talk  13:56, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Batman Begins shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. GB fan 23:47, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I need ur help, cud u please enlarge the resolution of this image - https://twitter.com/HimanisPinnu/status/353818262515109888/photo/1

?? Wana make it as profile picture, i tried to enlarge it in Paint.Net but it says "Bicubic" will be used n if i confirm it, the image becomes blurred :( :(

Himanis Das  talk 16:32, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know how much you understand about image editing, but you can't make an image larger than its original size without exponentially losing resolution. You'd need a larger source image.  drewmunn  talk  16:41, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Monitoring

U might be knowing that VLC v 2.0.7 has been released worldwide, as it was made available, users are going on assigning screenshot of the latest version by uploading new ones or replacing my ones.

An user has recently replaced a new image on my uploaded image i.e, File:VLC 2.0.6.png, but it was soon reverted by another user (pls take sometime to see it).

Another user has also uploaded a new image tagging it as it is completely his own work even if it contained copyright materials, it was soon reverted to the old ones by me in that article.

I SILENTLY WATCHED THOSE KINDS OF ACTIVITIES. Finally, i decided to upload a new image playing a short clip from Tears of Steel (a Blender project) in Classic theme.

So i did it, now as u know most of time i commit mistakes (especially in this), i request u to see it and add sufficient infos so that it will not be tagged as deletion. Anyways the image is in this link

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:VLC_Media_Payer_Screenshot.png

Himanis Das  talk 15:29, 9 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'll have a more detailed look later but first you need to consider this: did the interface change between 2.0.6 and 2.0.7? If not, then there was no need to add a new image. The caption does not need to state the minor revision code; "VLC media player 2.0" would suffice, or even "VLC media player 2". Minor revisions almost never bring a new UI, and as such do not require listing in the caption, or a new image to be uploaded.  drewmunn  talk  16:50, 9 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers for that, i originally have no intention to upload a new image, yep, there is no diff in the UI. Actually the inside components was changed from 2.0.6 to 2.0.7, but wott can i do, i found little disturbance in the article i.e, upload of images unresistingly by other users. So, i uploaded the image to cool down the problem. Hence, wen u'll be free, monitor that.115.250.72.138 (talk) 17:24, 9 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You don't have to upload a new image to resolve it, just revert it back to the one you previously had. Explain why, and change the caption to remove the minor version.  drewmunn  talk  17:26, 9 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Wot shud i explain ?? Sory! but i cudn't understand wot u said.115.250.1.13 (talk) 05:39, 10 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Let's clear this up, shall we? When 2.0.7 was released, no new image was required. If people added a new image, and it was acceptable (it met all the guidelines), then it should have been left. If it didn't, then it should have been reverted to the 2.0.6 image, and you should have explained to the uploader why you removed their image, and why no new image is needed in the edit summary. The caption for the image doesn't need to list the minor revision number, as this is not necessary. I will remove it in a second.  drewmunn  talk  06:54, 10 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
U hav made it clear, DEN Y ASKING "SHALL WE" ?? K, its ur vsh! But is the license and the Summary of the image is correct or not ?? Himanis Das  talk 17:31, 11 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I have altered the caption, and the summary is fine as it is.  drewmunn  talk  17:34, 11 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Broadchurch Edits Deleted

I don't know what was wrong with my awards and nominations section for Broadchurch? You cited dodgy grammar/poor sources but looking at the historical entry I don't see anything wrong with it compared to other similar sections on various TV series pages. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.111.12.236 (talk) 13:49, 11 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, it wouldn't take that much to get it up to spec, but there are some things that need addressing for it to be suitable. There were a could of grammar issues, but they're besides the point (and I would have fixed them if they were the only issue). However, the mirror isn't a particularly reliable single source to go with, and so your content edged on the rumour/questionable-future side of things. If you can cite two or three highly notable sources that all propose Coleman for an award, then it would be acceptable. If not, you could add the table in without that part. The choice is your's, and I'll lend a hand if you want me to.  drewmunn  talk  14:00, 11 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I still don't quite understand because the online paper was just reviewing the film and predicting her for an award, it's not like a fact they have to verify, it's just a critical opinion? I also posted a link to Huffington Post, is that not legit?

The Telegraph also predicts her to win here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/tv-and-radio-reviews/10011343/Broadchurch-final-episode-review.html

And an online critic does so here too: http://www.cultbox.co.uk/reviews/episodes/6741-broadchurch-episode-8-review

Maybe I could re-word it to say critics and bloggers? Also did the table need sources too then? From what I checked others generally don't use them... but any help would be great, thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.111.12.236 (talk) 22:58, 11 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The table is fine without sources; linking to the relevant awards is all that's really required. My personal suggestion, so as to avoid any issues, would be to not yet add in the section regarding the statements made about Coleman, and start a request for comment on the talk page to see what other people think the best way to word and cite it would be.  drewmunn  talk  08:19, 12 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Today i saw that i got an invitation to join WikiProject Microsoft, Please go to my talk page (here) and tell me what shall i do to join it. Also say wot responsibilities should i have to take ??Himanis Das  talk 10:20, 13 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I believe the biggest clue is given in the invitation: "Add your name to the list at Wikipedia:WikiProject Microsoft/Participants and/or add the userbox {{Template:User WikiProject Microsoft}}." As for responsibilities, WikiProjects generally just look after a set of pages, and help editors find pages that they may wish to contribute to. They also ensure there is consistency across such article. You may be asked to help out on new articles, templates, or guidelines, and be invited to join discussions on project-wide or article-specific issues.  drewmunn  talk  10:49, 13 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm back!

So, i got a leave from school for today only.

Newez i decided to edit something after a long break, so i gone to iOS 7 article, there i saw that my uploaded image has been reverted to the Beta 1 image. U r right, the screenshot contained apps of other companies, so i searched for image which will respect the guidelines, i found this site giving the perfect image - http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTYwMFgxMjAw/z/RDMAAMXQhpdRym53/$T2eC16R,!yUE9s6NFGibBRym52sQHg~~/iOS-7-Beta-UDID-Devices-Registration-Activation-Apple_57.jpg

I've edited it and uploaded to Wikipedia, i.e, File:IOS 7 Home Screen.png, is it right ??Himanis Das  talk 07:34, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, hello again. Unfortunately, the same issue exists in the second image as did the first; non-Apple apps were visible. I have reverted back to the original image for now, to ensure no copyright issues occur and the image guidelines are met.  drewmunn  talk  07:39, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Fine, Firstly i reverted to my uploaded image as u haven't replied me, as now u said I've reverted it to ur work. Why u don't download n install the Beta 2 in ur iPad ?? The situation would have been totally clear.Himanis Das  talk 07:45, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Let's go though this again, shall we?
  • Beta 2's no longer available. We're up to Beta 3, with Beta 4 slated for release today.
  • I have plenty of third party apps on my iPad, and I'm not rearranging my home screen for the sake of one image.
  • As with Microsoft, Apple's pre-release EULA forbids developers from uploading or sharing screenshots of their software. I am not risking the loss of the tools I require for my job just to upload an image for you; that would be beyond stupid.
  • As with our previous discussions, the Wikipedia guidelines for pre-release screenshots forbids user-generated screenshots.
Does that clear things up?  drewmunn  talk  08:18, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
First thing, I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY SOMETIMES U THINK THAT I GET ANGRY BY DOING THOSE UNPAID WORKS LIKE EDITING IN WIKIPEDIA ?? Secondly, I don't want that image, but Wikipedia wants it, BECAUSE IN THE BEGINNING U KNOW THAT I WANT OUR WORKS TO BE POPULAR IN WIKIPEDIA AND MAY BE OTHER SITES So why u said above "just to upload an image for you". Thirdly, i don't know that Beta 4 is gonna release today, may be. Finally I Think Different "See my userbox", therefore only i used to edit articles by thinking it in different ways, i don't know weather u think like me or not. Yep, that message made all clear.Himanis Das  talk 11:30, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think you're getting angry, but note that these conditions, as I've listed above, apply to multiple images you've asked me to upload. I edit articles in line with the guidelines, which may involve going against convention, or it may not. This is not of consequence here, however, as it's simply a matter of a contract I am bound by, and the guidelines and laws we abide by.  drewmunn  talk  11:42, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that! Nw wot we shud do now with that article iOS 7 ??Himanis Das  talk 12:21, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Windows 8 wording about desktop and apps

Hello, Sonic.

I was looking at this revert of yours and I wondered whether you did it by mistake. I might be wrong but your edit summary does give such an impression.

So, we might have to have a little chat about this. The message that I and ViperSnake wanted to deliver is: In Windows 8, desktop is treat like a Windows Runtime app (I mean a Metro-style app). It can be snapped and switched to with Windows+Tab ↹. The catch, however, is that all desktop apps are also treated as part of the desktop itself: You can't just snap OpenOffice (desktop app) to one side and Reader (Metro-style) to another side. But if you open e.g. Skype, OpenOffice and File Explorer on the desktop and snap desktop to one side, the mentioned apps move along with it.

How do you think we can best deliver this message?

Best regards,
Codename Lisa (talk) 12:55, 3 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lisa! I reverted because the statement as was made little grammatical sense. The sentiment was correct, but I was in a bit of a hurry so I replaced the faulty grammar with the first (if most general) caption I could think of. Is Windows 8.1 is a program ? What do you think ?

One thing i must tell u Wikipedia is getting bored day-by-day for me. After a while when i opened my Wikipedia acount, i jst found a message, please read it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Himanis_Das#File:Windows_8.1_Preview_Default_Start_Screen.png_listed_for_deletion here/

When i redirected to the page, i found that C said Windows 8.1 as a program, please read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Files_for_deletion/2013_August_7#File:Windows_8.1_Preview_Default_Start_Screen.png here/

Also don't forget to read my message also.Himanis Das  talk 13:45, 8 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The use of the term "program" was a misnomer, but the sentiment stands. The images doesn't show anything that couldn't be described in words, so I think the delete request is probably correct at this time. In the future, when 8.1 is released in GM state to the public rather than as a trial software, then a screenshot may be used. For now, it's not that necessary.  drewmunn  talk  17:29, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. The actual term is "unreleased program", with "unreleased" being the distinguishing component. I used "program" because
  1. If you take it a screenshot of an OS: an OS is a computer program too
  2. If you take it a screenshot of Start screen: some people think Start is an individual Metro-style app
  3. If you take it a screenshot of an update pack (service pack or feature pack): they are also computer programs
Eventually, however, the update pack, its new Start screen and the resulting new OS are all "unreleased" – having not reached RTM.

Didn't cross my mind, really, but true! See Springboard, Explorer, and all the other shells...  drewmunn  talk  18:41, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Also, please don't badger me about not replying on every forum you can access me; if I don't reply here, it's probably because I'm otherwise engaged. In this case, I was out of the country. Sending me messages asking me to reply to messages elsewhere just means that I have more to trawl through on my return, and believe me, the less extraneous junk I have to filter through, the better.  drewmunn  talk  11:10, 11 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Skyfall edit

Hi. I noticed that you reverted my latest contribution to the Skyfall article. I'm not quite sure what you mean about the one sentence being "bloaty." Basically, I added it because I didn't think that the two paragraphs were well linked with each other. At the end of the first, Bond is in England and only has the knowledge that Patrice is in Shanghai. But, then in the next paragraph, he is suddenly in Shanghai fighting with Patrice. I think that someone who hasn't seen this movie may be somewhat confused by the choice of sentence structure here. Is it possible, this could be reconsidered? I would love to hear any suggestions you might have on how I could improve the sentence I added. Thank you for taking the time to read this post. Sincerely 108.95.130.150 (talk) 10:33, 11 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm certainly open to suggestion. The reason I made the revert is that the plot is quite long already; it's at the top end of the plot length. The sentence you added opened the floor to quite a bit of inane detail being added back in (we've had some issues in the past with this sort of thing). However, something along the lines of "Bond travels to Shanghai" would probably suffice. Patrice's manner of death isn't that necessary, in my opinion, so you could look at balancing additions out by thinning that down to "Patrice dies".  drewmunn  talk  11:06, 11 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Windows 8.1 RTM (File Explorer) screenshot

Waaah!

Recently i saw a screenshot unveiling the File Explorer of Windows 8.1 RTM. It is really amazing! Please see the screenshot by clicking on this site - http://news.softpedia.com/newsImage/Check-Out-a-Windows-8-1-RTM-File-Explorer-Concept-2.png/

As per Microsoft it will be released within 2 weeks ahead, i'm eagerly waiting, aren't u ???Himanis Das  talk 17:33, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That is not an unveiling screenshot. As the article says, it's a user mockup of what they were expecting to be possible. It's a bit like the work I've done on my concepts page. I developed a design of a possible iPhone upgrade, but it doesn't mean that's going to be the next iPhone, just what I'd like to see.  drewmunn  talk  20:27, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that! I saw the concept image of the iPhone u designed, everything is fine but I find it quite unacceptable as solid lower panel which carry the "Home Button" bellow the touch screen panel is quite expanded downwards and curved. Why do u spend ur valuable time in making those concepts even if u r dam clear that the phone would not going to be the next iPhone ?Himanis Das  talk 09:57, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Because I enjoy product design, much the same as I enjoy editing Wikipedia. Anyway, the 'chin' is actually a tad smaller than the current one (if I remember rightly, I can't be bothered to find the CAD file now), just highlighted.  drewmunn  talk  10:05, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
What about the RTM ? It seems that the pre-RTM has been released revealing no extra features but only bugs of the previous preview release were fixed. I thought this screenshot would be a new feature but it isn't (as said by u), do find any other webpages other than Softpedia revealing the features of the RTM or anything else ?Himanis Das  talk 16:46, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know what you think an RTM is for, but it isn't meant to add new features. All features should be part of earlier beta releases, the RTM is simply Microsoft saying they think they've fixed most of their bugs.  drewmunn  talk  20:22, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Earlier i used to have no idea about what are did in RTM. But when i saw a lot of changes from Windows 8 Release Preview to RTM, i realized and got a bit of idea. Currently u may be using Windows 8, do u know those new features that were currently different from Windows 7 and other subsequent previews were introduced to Windows 8 in the RTM stage only. The final stage (what were sold now-a-days in market) had only fixed bugs from RTM.

  • Some of the changes are that were unveiled in Windows 8 RTM were
    • New default mouse cursors (non-aero)
    • Solid colored title bar with no transparency
    • Renaming of "Windows Explorer" to "File Explorer"
    • New Start screen designs

ETC

Is that clear ? But currently there were no information regarding changes from Windows 8.1 Preview to 8.1 RTM.Himanis Das  talk 12:43, 18 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a developer, I know the changes, you don't need to explain them to me. 8.1 RTM is 8.1, the RTM stands for "release to manufacturers". It means Microsoft think they're done with any major changes and bug fixes. There will be no major changes from now until launch. There are inherently no major changes since the last preview of 8.1. RTM is not a new OS, it is a series of patches. Do you understand that yet?  drewmunn  talk  12:47, 18 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
