Should 25DD be classfied as new thread or subclass of Akizuki Class
Hi All,
According to the Japanese wiki page http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/25DD, the 25DD is going to be based on the Akizuki Class (2010). Question is, should it be created as a new topic or should it be added to the current Akizuki page?
A rough translation as below from the 25DD page. Needs proof reading as i have no formal education in Japanese.
Thank you!
Class: DD (General Purpose) Construction: TBA Preceded by: Akizuki Class DD (2010) Displacement: Standard 5000t Length: 151m Width: 18.3m Depth: Draft:

Mark 32 Torpedo Launcher Type 12 Torpedo
Helicopter: SH60K Helicopter C4I: ATECS Radar: FCS-3 Derivative Anti Surface Radar (TBA) Sonar: OQQ-24 OQR-4 ECM
The 25DD is conceived in the Heisei 25 defense budget which had appropiated 701 Billion yen for construction of a new General Purpose Escort Ship. It will be a subclass of Akizuki Destroyer (2010) and also known as the 5000 ton Destroyer in media attachments.
Speciality The model resembles the Akizuki Class, and the FCS-3 is mounted higher than the smokestack. The bow of the Destroyer will hold a 16 cell VLS, a 50% reduction compared to the Akizuki. 4 of the cells contains ESSM for AAW. The Ministry is considering using an idigenous design instead of the current Thales APAR derived Illuminator.
In addition, the following features will be equipped on the 25DD 1. Improved Submarine detection to counter the new submarine designs (A multi static sonar will be used for Anti Submarine operations) 2. New, low fuel COGLAG with IEP. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 116.15.77.71 (talk) 01:26, 8 September 2013 (UTC)
