Ahmad Keshvari (Farsi: احمد کشوری; July 1953 – December 1980) was a Bell AH-1 Cobra pilot and general in the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force. He had a considerable role in the early months of the Iran-Iraq War.

Early life

Keshvari was born in July 1953 to a middle-class family in Keya Kola, Nowshahr,in Mazandaran Province. He spent his primary school and the three years of his high school in Kiakola and Sarepol-e Talar and then spent his high school in Qanad High School in Babol.his father was a brave man. although he was a military in shah regime,he anticipated in anti-regime movements.finally he had to resign and started farming.Ahmad Keshvari was interested in art(painting) and also wrestling.in high school he started studying religious and also political books.

At the last year of high school, Ahmad and his two friends started activities against Shah's regime,they started drawing political pictures,in order to expose the true face of regime. After he graduated from high school, because of poverty and high cost of education, he did not began studying at the university.[1][2]

Education

In 1972 Keshvari entered Airborne unit. After passing the Bell AH-1 Cobra and JetRanger course, he graduated with the ranking of assistant lieutenant.he had prominent moral characteristics.he prayed a lot and recited koran every night.although studying religious books was Prohibited in army,he embedded books in his closet and studied them more often.he was arrested several times in army and was interrogated because of his activities.He was humble and gracious and yet stood against injustices stubbornly.He used to meet the poor people and spoke about the oppression of the king. he printed Ruhollah Khomeini's flyers and anticipate in most of street demonstration.he was injured many times in demonstration but he did not give up and finally Islamic revolution happened in January 1978. After revolution

Following the victory of Islamic Revolution, he served the country in various fields, including the operations to clear Kurdistan Province in western Iran from anti-revolutionaries. He was made Commander of the Ilam Airborne Unit.[3]

Iran–Iraq War

In September 1980 Iraq attacked Iran. Keshvari went into the battlefields rapidly. He fought bravely and could stop Iraqi tanks from further advancing into the Iranian territory and destroyed lots of Iraqi tanks in west battle fields. He bravely attended in most dangerous missions. He made great efforts during the war. He worked tirelessly for the unity of Army and IRGC. He had a great interest in Imam and was deeply upset when he got sick.[1][2]

Death

In December 1980 at the age of 27 while returning from a successful operation, Keshvari was attacked by Iraqi Mig aircraft. He flew his helicopter back to Iran, and it crashed in Ilam Province. He was buried in the Behesht-e Zahra cemetery in Tehran as a military personal in plot 24.[2][4]
