Vandalism

It states here that Ron Atkinson was his son. Can someone fix this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.127.122.91 (talk) 01:06, 6 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Death?

See here. - Yellow Dingo (talk) 10:43, 15 August 2016 (UTC) [reply]

Also see [1] [2]. Not sure why this isn't being allowed to go through? Spiderone 10:53, 15 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
For as long as it is only "local sources say", it is not onfirmed. It is very probably true, but we don't put anything until it is known fact. Kevin McE (talk) 10:54, 15 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Still only says "has been named as": that is media speak for "s rumoured to be". If family/agent/police name him, that is different. Kevin McE (talk) 11:14, 15 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The Guardian and /Sky Sports are now reporting it as fact. FlyingMeeces (talk) 11:23, 15 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

reference? Kevin McE (talk) 11:44, 15 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
As is the Telegraph (which I just posted) Spiderone 11:45, 15 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Even Reuters [4] Spiderone 11:45, 15 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
These are still all "according to reports". A newspaper can say anything "is reported": if it is later shown to be untrue, they simply need to say "it is true that it was reported, and that is all we said". They believe it to be true (as do I), but they don't know it to be true (and none of us do either). Kevin McE (talk) 11:55, 15 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The Birmingham Mail reports a statement from Atkinson's father confirming his death. Keri (talk) 11:59, 15 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Which makes it quite proper that it is now reported here: until such confirmation it was not. Kevin McE (talk) 12:00, 15 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely; my comment was an FYI not a criticism :) The handling of the page so far has been exactly as it should be. Keri (talk) 12:02, 15 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
