Asif Akbar is a Bangladeshi pop singer.[2] He releases solo, duet and mixed albums. He also sings for cinema. His latest album "Jan Re" is available online as he decided to release his songs throughout all possible media to prevent piracy.[3]

Career

Akbar's debut album was released on 30 January 2001. He constantly releases solo albums & also dueting along with singers like Kavita Krishnamurthy, Kumar Sanu, Bappa Majumdar, Dolly Shaontoni, Suzana Ansar, Sonia, Kaniz Suborna, Dinat Jahan Munni, Monir Khan, and many others. He retired from commercial singing on 17 March 2010 to concentrate on his political career. But he returned to commercial singing with the solo album titled X-Prem in August 2013.

He has got National Award for best singer two times and Meril Prothom Alo Award for a record six times with two consecutives.

Personal life

Asif Akbar was born as Asif Akbar Mithu in Comilla, Bangladesh. Although Mithu was busy playing cricket in his childhood and wanted to be a cricketer or a businessman he later became a singer for his emerging voice. He is never thought to be a singer.

He is married to Salma Asif Mitu and they have two children Rono and Rudro.
