The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning is a prequel to New Line Cinema's 2003 film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The movie was released on October 6, 2006 in North America. The film is directed by Jonathan Liebesman and produced by Michael Bay. The movie is set 4 years before the 2003 remake.

Plot

The plot focuses around the origins of Leatherface and his cannibalistic family. It tells how Thomas Hewitt came to be a chainsaw weilding murderer. It alsofocuses around four people (Chrissie(Jordana Brewster), Dean(Taylor Handley), Bailey(Diora Baird) and Eric(Matthew Boomer) going on a road trip before the two men go to Vietnam to fight in the Vietnam War.

Along the way they get in a wreck and Chrissie is thrown from the car. The other three meet Sherrif Hoyt(R. Lee Ermey) and are taken to the Hewwit residence. There they are murdered one by one by the soon be infamous murder known as Leatherface.

  • The film previously had the subtitle The Origin.
  • New Line Cinema had to pay $3 million more than it expected to in order to keep the franchise in the studio fold after Dimension Films made a pricey deal with original rights holders.
  • The film will feature Leatherface's first ever chainsaw murder.
  • The theatrical trailer is attached to the remake of The Omen.
  • The film will be part of "A Match Made In Hell" where a sneak peak will be shown along with a demo releases of Microsoft's Gears of War video game.
  • As of Wednesday, September 6th, the release has been pushed back to its original date, October 6th.
  • According to a producer, the film was originally rated NC-17, and 17 scenes had to be removed in order to secure an R-rating.[citation needed]
  • This movie also homages some scenes from the 1974 original movie not shown in the 2003 remake, including the infamous dinner scene.
