Muniratna Kurukshetra is an upcoming Indian epic-war Kannada film, written by J. K. Bharavi[2] and directed by Naganna.[3] Produced by Muniratna Naidu, a producer turned MLA, the project is touted to be one of the big budget films in Kannada cinema.[4] The film is loosely based on the Indian epic Mahabharata and poet Ranna's Gadhayuddha with the story centred upon Duryodhana, a Kaurava king, played by Darshan.[5]

Besides Darshan, the film features an ensemble cast including Ambarish, V. Ravichandran, Arjun Sarja, Nikhil Kumar, Sneha, Lakshmi, Saikumar Pudipeddi, Sonu Sood, Srinivasa Murthy, Danish Akhtar Saifi, Shashikumar, Regina Cassandra, Hariprriya among others portraying many important characters of the Mahabharata.[6] The score and soundtrack for the film is by V. Harikrishna whilst the cinematography is by Jayanan Vincent.[7]

The filming process began on 6 August 2017 with the official launch being held on the same day.[8] Major portion of the filming is being held at Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad.[9] The film is planned for Sankranthi festival release on 14 January 2018 and is reportedly shown in both 2D and 3D formats.
