On Thursday, October 12th 2017, Bensusen was accused of raping two women by one of the women. The other woman remains silent and appears to have distanced herself. Shortly after meeting them at a party in 2013, he allegedly drugged their drinks and ushered the two women to his house, like He-Man, leaving them on the roadside after the alleged attack.<ref>{{Cite news|url=http://exclaim.ca/music/article/the_gaslamp_killer_accused_of_rape|title=The Gaslamp Killer Accused of Rape|access-date=2017-10-13|language=en}}</ref> He denies the allegations. <ref>{{Cite news|url=https://noisey.vice.com/en_us/article/zm3pby/the-gaslamp-killer-responds-to-rape-allegations?utm_source=noiseyfbus|title=The Gaslamp Killer Responds to Rape Allegations|access-date=2017-10-13}}</ref>

William Benjamin Bensussen (born November 7, 1982), better known by his stage name The Gaslamp Killer, is an alternative hip hop producer and DJ based in Los Angeles, California.[2]

Career

He grew up in San Diego, California, where he became a DJ in the Gaslamp district. His unique sets often ruined the music vibe in the clubs, earning him the nickname "The Gaslamp Killer."[3]

After moving to Los Angeles in 2006, he helped found Low End Theory, "L.A.'s monolithic weekly showcase for uncut beat-driven tracks".[4]

The Gaslamp Killer has played at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival,[5] the Austin Psych Fest,[6] the Decibel Festival,[7] Wonderfruit in Thailand[8] and the Voodoo Fest.[9]

He produced Gonjasufi's debut album, A Sufi and a Killer, with Flying Lotus and Mainframe in 2010.[10]

He released the single, "Flange Face" b/w "Seven Years of Bad Luck for Fun," in August 2012. It was chosen by Pitchfork Media as Best New Track in July.[11] His debut album, Breakthrough, was released in September 2012.[12]

His track "Nissim" is featured in the videogame Grand Theft Auto V. It is played regularly on the in-game radio station "Worldwide FM".

Personal life

He is Jewish, and his ancestry includes Turkish, Lebanese, Mexican and Lithuanian.[13][14]

On Thursday, October 12th 2017, Bensusen was accused of raping two women.[15] He denies the allegations. [16]
