KhrisBot

Hello Khris249. I noticed that you are operating the KhrisBot (talk · contribs) account, and you are apparently using it as a bot account to automatically welcome new editors to Wikipedia. Please be aware that under Wikipedia's bot policy, all bots are required to have approval from the Bot Approvals Group prior to being used. It looks like you have run your process without authorization from the approvals group.

Please be aware the the use of bots to add welcome templates to new editor talk pages has frequently been proposed on Wikipedia, and it has almost always been denied: see Wikipedia:Perennial proposals#Use a bot to welcome new users. Accordingly, I would strongly recommend that you stop development on this bot. You seem to be new here yourself. I would recommend taking some time to gain experience editing English Wikipedia articles before you start bot development here.

I just wanted to let you know that I've applied an indefinite soft block onto the KhrisBot account you created, as it is admittedly running as a bot but without prior approval from the bot approval group. Please see this page regarding the use of bots, the kinds of bots that we typically approve and don't approve, and how to get your bot approved. Once you've done this and all of the required necessities are done, I (or another admin) will be happy to unblock the account. There are a few things I would like to point out. Firstly, according to Wikipedia:Welcoming committee, there are hundreds of thousands of users without any edits. It is widely accepted (but not required!) that users with no edits should not be welcomed to save on server resources and also because most templates start with "Thank you for your Contributions" (or similar). Furthermore, until edits are made, it's impossible to determine if the user has bad intentions, and created the account purposely to vandalize Wikipedia. Secondly, a bot is not a human. If you are a new editor, would you rather receive a welcome message from a bot or from a editor? Thirdly, according to the bot policy, a bot does not consume resources unnecessarily, welcoming users with 0 edits or vandals is a waste of server resources as mentioned above.
