Request reason:

Firstly, I want to clarify that I am not trying to advertise or promote any of the companies for which I have created articles. I have put in several hours of my free time in researching and creating these articles and done so voluntarily. I don't work for any of these companies. Secondly, if these articles sounded promotional you could have told me which sentences sound promotional and I would have made the appropriate changes. Or you could have added the banner like someone has done in this article - Lemon Tree Hotels. In fact, if you had actually read the articles you would have found that I have covered a lot of negative points of these companies. In Rapido article, I have written about the company's vehicles being seized in various cities. In FreshMenu article I had covered the data breach incident. If I was trying to advertise, wouldn't I just skip writing about these incidents which portray a negative image of the company? If the references provided were insufficient I could have added several more. The reason I joined Wiki is to create articles on interesting companies which are obviously notable but for some reason, don't have articles on Wiki. For example, India's largest food delivery company Swiggy doesn't have an article but the second-ranked Zomato does. Similarly, India's largest online grocer BigBasket does not have article but Grofers does. Faasos has an article but its close competitor FreshMenu does not. I was actually planning on creating articles for Swiggy, BigBasket and half a dozen other notable companies which have lots of press coverage. But I have been banned for unclear reasons. I was thinking anyone could edit Wiki but had no idea it was so restrictive and unwelcoming. I would greatly appreciate it if you could revert the ban. If you choose not to, it's fine as well. I don't have any vested interest in any of these companies. But it is a highly unpleasant experience seeing several hours of my free time going to waste. I just liked the idea of researching and writing about upcoming startups. ItsAnimesh (talk) 09:56, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

User has given assurances that they are not being paid to make edits, and has promised to not to create articles about privately held companies for at least six months. User is further advised to avoid writing in a style which may be regarded as promotional. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 08:01, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You state that you don't work for the companies you have written about; are you affiliated with them in any manner whatsoever, such as them being your or your company's clients?

"Startups" do not usually meet the notability guidelines for companies, as most sources about them are press releases, routine announcements, or staff interviews which are primary sources that do not establish notability. Wikipedia is only interested in what completely independent reliable sources have chosen to give significant coverage to. Wikipedia can't be used to spread the word about 'startups'. 331dot (talk) 10:03, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No. I am not associated with them in any way nor do I work for any marketing/PR firm. (Edit: I have ordered food a few times from FreshMenu but that does not count right?) You said startups are not usually notable. But I have seen hundreds of articles on startup companies some of which are listed here: List of unicorn startup companies. I don't think the sources I added are "press releases, routine announcements, or staff interviews" because I have added newspaper sources in which these companies are described in detail by the newspaper staff themselves. In fact, I only added the main points from those news sources and may not have covered all aspects of their business (revenue, profits, etc). I see articles written for similar or smaller-sized companies but my articles have been deleted. Am I missing some important guideline here? ItsAnimesh (talk) 11:25, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have off-wiki evidence (which I won't share here unless you direct me to do so, don't worry), that you work in the communications department of a large multinational professional services company. Is that not the case? I think you need to clear this up. I think you also need to clear up whether any of the companies you have written about are, or have ever been, clients of this large multinational company. That would be a clear violation of WP:COI if so. --Yamla (talk) 13:09, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Yamla - I am not [this guy] if that's what who you mean. He lives in the opposite side of the country as me and I have never even been to that city. We both share the same first name though which is a common given name in the region where I live. I think now I understand that since he uses the same nickname across social networking sites as my username here, you think I am that person. Using "Its" or "It's" before given name is very common and I am sure there are dozens of Wiki users who use that username format. ItsAnimesh (talk) 14:00, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for clarifying. That was indeed who I thought you might be. I acknowledge what you say is at least plausible. I have a common first name in my country, too. Heck, I have a common last name, too. Confusions do happen. --Yamla (talk) 14:07, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Going back to the content, I'm not the only one who finds the drafts and editing pattern suspicious (as can be seen in their histories). We get a lot of paid-for spam about startups. I'm not 100% satisfied by this appeal, but I will accept the reviewing admin's decision. It would help if you stay away from creating articles related to privately held companies founded no earlier than 2000, reasonably construed, for six months. MER-C 16:42, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

OK. I will not create articles about privately held companies for six months. Does that mean I can't edit existing articles on such companies created by someone else? And what will happen to the articles already created by me? ItsAnimesh (talk) 05:51, 17 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

User:MSGJ User:MER-C Thanks for unblocking me. Can you tell me what I can do about the articles created by me that were deleted or let me know where I can ask for help? ItsAnimesh (talk) 13:29, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
