ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Hello, Wicka wicka. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Pittsburgh Riverhounds

I have returned the three images that you deleted from the Pittsburgh Riverhounds article, albeit in different formatting. To address the points you made, I placed the images in the tables because in my experience it helped maintain the appearance of the article on mobile devices and monitors with lower aspect ratios. However, I agree with you that it was not generally the best location. It should not be "baffling" that only these three photos were included considering that images with the appropriate licenses are hard to come by. If you have images of other players in the lists with the proper licenses, I'd love for you to add them. Finally, try to be constructive with your edits, not destructive. It's easy to delete content because you don't like it but it's much more beneficial for you to actually improve something.Thanks. --Gri3720 (talk) 14:14, 22 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of Edit warring noticeboard discussion

Information icon Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. The thread is The359 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). Thank you. Tvx1 16:26, 29 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like you and the other party are in a giant edit war at 24 Hours of Daytona. Unless you feel like responding to the complaint and promising to stop warring it is likely both of you will be blocked. Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 17:32, 29 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 31 hours for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may request an unblock by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.  CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 17:41, 29 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This has nothing to do with the discussion, but:

"Hell, just TODAY there are new reports suggesting their entry will be bought up and might still participate in this season."

I'm genuinely curious at this point. I've looked everywhere for a story like this, but I can't find anything. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 02:45, 26 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You're gonna have to scroll real far, I think, as it was posted during the car launches on Friday. Wicka wicka (talk) 03:40, 26 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, thanks. It's Sky's rumour patrol, and to be honest, I've never been able to figure out if they're reporting or starting rumours. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 07:49, 26 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Prisonermonkeys: My view on Sky's rumors has always been that they're not directly making things up, they are legitimately hearing rumors from third-party sources and passing them along, but are fully aware that most of them are BS. In this case, I'm fairly certain it's true that the auction of Manor's assets was delayed, but whether that actually indicates serious interest in buying the team is another question entirely. Most of the staff has already moved on and it'd be impossible to get a 2017-spec chassis ready by even the fourth race. I would guess any interest in the team is a result of potential buyers thinking Liberty will increase overall TV revenue or spread it to the teams more equally (or both), but at this stage it'd arguably be easier to reap those rewards by starting a new team from the ground up. Your recent editing history at 2018 FIA Formula One World Championship shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2018 IndyCar Series, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Firestone (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

IndyCar tables

You seem have changed the structure of the results tables for a few drivers. We came to a certain consensus on how they should look a couple of years ago; would you mind asking others for input before we change them all again? This would be an extremely tedious change, and for consistency's sake, I think each table should be formatted the same way for each driver. Jahn1234567890 works with the tables quite a bit and can probably provide some additional input. Thanks, --Bcschneider53 (talk) 01:22, 27 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Bcschneider53: The accessibility guidelines suggest not structuring tables in the way you guys have because it's hard for screen readers to read. When you merge so many rows into one cell you make it difficult/impossible to read left to right. Personally I believe this impacts anyone reading the table, not just the visually impaired. You would expect to be able to parse a row from left to right, and yet you have situations like Scott Dixon's page, where there's just huge gaps of empty space. I also find it a little bizarre that the people who reverted my changes ripped out so much of the unquestionably useful information I added, like chassis and engine information. I understand if people disagree on the layout, but that just seemed kind of petty. Wicka wicka (talk) 22:06, 27 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
On the accessibility guidelines, the tables you have created still have an issue. You created them with a caption formatted as a header. That creates problems for screen readers. Please use |+ to format captions instead of !. You can find the explanation in the relevant guideline. Regards,Tvx1 22:12, 27 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:16, 24 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

List of McLaren road cars moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, List of McLaren road cars, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
