Naya Lahore (also Nawan Lahore, Template:Lang-ur) is a town located in the Toba Tek Singh District in Punjab, Pakistan. It is about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) west of Painsra, [4] midway between the major cities of Jhang,[1] to the west, and Faisalabad, 40 kilometres (25 miles) to the east. The capital city of Punjab, Lahore, is 212 km (132 mi) by road to the east.[4]
During the 20th century, the town developed as a midway stopping point along the Lyallpur-Jhang trade route.[1] As of 2015, its population was approximately 19500 people, making it the largest town in Gojra Tehsil.[2] Naya Lahore has a Union Council (number 2 of Gojra Tehsil) and has 4 wards. Mian Shamshad-ul-Haq is the Chairman of the Union Council. More than 35 villages are linked to this town and it is the center for education and trade. It has many public and private schools and colleges. The town is declared as a sub-tehsil of Gojra (which is the tehsil of Toba Tek Singh) by the government of Punjab. The offices of the Assistant Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner are due to be constructed in Nia lahore. A girls degree college is also planned. These new constructions will be built on government-owned land located out of town, about 3 to 5 kilometers away from the main area of sub-tehsil. [4]
