The Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS) is one of ten research institutes that comprise the School of Advanced Study at the University of London. ILAS was established in 1965 with the objective of providing a focus for research on the literature, history, politics and economics of Latin America and the Caribbean. The institute is located in the landmark Senate House in Bloomsbury, London.
