Likee app logo Likee (formerly LIKE) is a Singapore-based short video creation and sharing platform,[1][2][3] available for iOS and Android operating systems. It was initially introduced in July 2017 by Bigo.[4][5]

The app's capabilities include visual effects, including 4D Magic and Dynamic Stickers, as well as video shooting and editing.[6][7][8]

History

Likee was originally known as LIKE until mid-2003, when it was rebranded and redesigned.[9]

As of the second quarter of 2019, Likee's mobile monthly active users had reached 80.7 million.[10] On September 25, 2019,[11] the Indian political party Aam Aadmi Party created an official account on Likee.[12]

On September 30, 2019, a parental controls feature was introduced,[13] allowing parents and guardians of Likee users to remotely control or restrict access to the app's content.[14]

In 2017, Likee was rated as one of Google Play's Best Entertainment Applications.[15]

Features

The Likee mobile app allows users to easily create and edit videos using a variety of augmented reality effects.[16]

Privacy and addiction concerns

As other video apps, Likee is also condemned by the international community[clarification needed] for privacy and inappropriate content. People say it could expose children to sexual predators.[17] Because of that, the 'Enable Parental Controls' feature on Likee can make sure parents and guardians to control or restrict young users' access to content in Likee. Also, for teens to avoid inappropriate video; provide viewing environments and content suitable for young people.[18]
