Coco Bandicoot (ココ バンディクー, Koko Bandikū) is a fictional anthropomorphic bandicoot character in the Crash Bandicoot series. She is depicted as Crash's brainy 13 year-old sister, with an IQ of 164 (according to Crash Tag Team Racing). Her precise height is 4'1" and her birthday is October 3. When she was younger, her face was almost always glued to a laptop screen. But recently, she developed teenage mannerisms, and she can often be found practicing Hong Kong martial arts, but she is still interested in technology.

Biography

It is never really stated how she came into existence, but it is safely assumed that she is another mutant created by Doctor Neo Cortex or Doctor Nitrus Brio. However, according to the instruction booklet of WoC, she was evolved by the doctors.

Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back

Coco apparently lives with Crash Bandicoot on N. Sanity Island. When the battery in her laptop runs out, she commands Crash to find a new one for her.[1] However, she is somehow able to find one herself when Crash is abducted by Cortex. She finds trusting Cortex to be a little unwise, and hacks into Cortex's computer, only to discover detailed schemes for a new Cortex Vortex and a suspicious-looking space station. She reveals Cortex's true intentions to Crash, forcing Cortex to flee into the depths of outer space.

Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped

Coco now lives in a hut on N. Sanity Island with Crash, Aku Aku and Polar. When a sinister laugh echoes through the air of Earth. Aku Aku tells her and Crash that his twin brother Uka Uka is freed from his jungle prison, and that he should be stopped at all costs. She aids Crash in his quest to gather the Power Crystals by gathering them in 17th century China, the 18th century Pacific Ocean, and World War I Europe. She is also responsible for the defeat of Doctor N. Gin on the Moon, with her new pet tiger Pura assisting her.

Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex

After the third defeat of Doctor Cortex, Coco decides to take a break along with Crash on N. Sanity Beach. All is well until an unusual amount of natural disasters cut their vacation short. Aku Aku informs them all that the Elementals have been unleashed, and asks Coco for the status of the new "Portal Chamber" she's been working on. She reports its near-completion, and that only a few adjustments are needed for it to become functional. She helps Crash gather the Power Crystals needed to stop the Elementals by collecting them in a tsunami-ravaged China and an avalanche zone. She also stops an armada of Cortex's space stations from striking Earth. Near the end, she helps Crash and Crunch escape from Cortex's malfunctioning space station.

Crash Twinsanity

Three years after the events of CB: TWOC, Coco is seen chasing a butterfly on N. Sanity Island when she is ambushed by Cortex. Many moments later, Coco believes that Cortex kidnapped Crash, and travels to the Iceberg Lab to confront him. With a swift kick, she attacks Cortex and sends the Power Crystals he was holding flying into the Psychetron. The resulting chain reaction leaves Coco paralyzed until the end of the game.

Other appearances

  • Coco is a playable character in Crash Team Racing, Crash Bash, Crash Nitro Kart and Crash Tag Team Racing.
  • Coco is the main invitee of the World Cannonball Race in Crash Boom Bang!, and does most of the talking out of all the attendees.

Trivia

  • According to concept art, she was originally to have an evil counterpart in Crash Twinsanity, who is named Evil Coco, much like Crash had Evil Crash, but she didn't appeared in the final game.
  • In the Twinsanity storyboards, Coco is seen wearing two different clothes: at first she wears her trademark overalls (Cortex wears her new outfit as a disguise). When she is next seen, she is wearing the clothes she wears in the final version of the game.
  • Twinsanity is one of the few games in which she is not a playable character (although she would've been during the production stages). She makes only three short appearances.
  • She also seems to have begun a rivalry with Nina Cortex.
  • Coco as a preteen age : 10-13 years.
  • During the beginning cinematic of Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex, Coco is seen using the jet-ski from Crash Bandicoot: Warped.
  • Coco is the only character so far who has appeared to noticably age during the course of the games.
