Poster Changes

[edit]

Unless the film is itself a foreign film, we do not typically use foreign posters for American films.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 05:44, 9 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Additionally:
  • Make very sure what you are uploading is the original poster for the film. One of your English language ones was reverted on those grounds.
  • Files over 300px are likely to be reverted as well. Yes, they are "higher quality", but the exceed the quality allowed for use of non-free material here.
  • File:Nochegaviotas.jpg has bee reverted because 1) you first uploaded an incorrect poster, 2) it was not low resolution, and 3) you replaced it with a crop of that wrong poster. Please don't do this again.
  • Just because free images exist does not mean they should be added into articles as decoration as you did with Scream 2 and Scream 3.
  • Your edits to Con Air, Phantasm (film), and Dralion are worrying in light of your question to Gary King. Frankly you should have made constructive edits to become autoconfirmed. Not vandalize pages and self revert.
- J Greb (talk) 08:00, 9 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As noted in the history for your user page, non-free images cannot be used outside of articles. Period. Also, Wikipedia is not an online repository of images. Please refrain from uploading images that cannot and will not be used in articles. And reduce the file sizes.

I understood the most words but it's difficult for me to answer you in english. There are very much english words I don't know and so it would be better when you understand german. Do you know an User who speaks german? --Robert Krueger 2 (talk) 20:47, 9 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free images

[edit]

About the posters again...

Please take a chance to look through the English Wikipedia's policy (WP:NFCC) and general guidelines (WP:NFC) on non-free content use.

Placing non-free images to create "galleries" is not acceptable. Placing them for decoration is also not acceptable.

You may also want to read up on exactly what the "alt" field is for.

- J Greb (talk) 16:30, 14 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Clarrification:
Using Tombs of the Blind Dead as an example:
  • The German language poster you uploaded will not be used in the infobox as this is a Spanish film.
  • It will not be acceptable with in the "Plot" section because the plot will not be discussing or commenting specifically on the German language poster.
  • The German language poster could be included in a section that specifically discuses notable aspects of that poster. This could include, but is not limited to:
    • Controversy in the design.
    • Notable complexities in the design or execution.
    • Multiple sources providing critical review and/or commentary on the poster itself.
  • Aspects this would not be relevant include, but are not limited to:
    • The German release of the film.
    • General marketing of the film.
    • Basic description of the poster.
    • Unsourced statements about notability.
    • Original interpritations of the poster or comparisons with the original poster.
Please keep thes in mind before re-adding the file to the article or placing like files in similar articles.
Thanks,
