Elementor Ltd. is an Israeli software company, providing web development services. The Elementor Website builder allows WordPress users to create and edit websites by employing the drag and drop technique, with a built-in responsive mode.[2][3]

In addition to a freemium version, Elementor also offers a premium version of its website builder — Elementor Pro, which includes additional features and over 6 add-ons.[4][5]

As of January 2021, Elementor is available in over 57 languages and is the 5th most popular WordPress plugins, with over 5 million active installations worldwide.[6] It is an open-source, GPLv3 licensed platform,[7] and powers 2.24% of the top 1M websites in the world.[8]

In its first round of institutional funding, the company raised $15M from Lightspeed Venture Partners.[5]

History

Elementor was founded in 2016 by Yoni Luksenberg and Ariel Klikstein.[1]

As of November 22, 2020, Elementor has published its free plugin version 3.0.13 and its paid Elementor Pro version 3.0.6.

Community

As of January 2021, Elementor has an active community worldwide of more than 91,300 members on Facebook.[15] Elementor's community has regular meetings worldwide. The meetings are aimed at introducing users to Elementor, helping them get started with Elementor and providing support to the community.[16]

On March 31, Elementor launched an Experts Networks for Web Creators [17]

Partnerships & Acquisitions

In 2019, Elementor acquired Layers WP — a WordPress theme brand and made the Layers theme available for free.[22] In the same year, Elementor partnered with A2 Hosting to provide a hosting account for its users.[23]

Reception

On WordPress.org, the Elementor plugin has a rating of 4.8 stars.[24] Various WordPress-oriented websites have praised Elementor for being easy-to-use, with TheMeIsle.com giving it a 9.3 rating while praising the fact that it has many templates, many different content modules, and being easy to use even for beginners.[25] Other sites have praised Elementor, talking about its value, ease-of-use, and customer support. However, Elementor has been criticized for various reasons, such as being bad for SEO because of the bloat and unnecessary HTML it adds to web pages.
