The Seres SF5 is an all-electric/range extender crossover SUV shown by Seres at the Auto Guangzhou in 2019.
Company history
SF Motors was started by Tesla co-founder Martin Eberhard after he left Tesla. However, later, with a change in ownership, SF Motors became Seres (an ancient word for the Chinese people)
The company unveiled the SF5 at the 2019 Guangzhou Motor Show. Currently, Jinkang Seres (金康赛力斯), as the company is known now, is a subsidiary of the Sokon Group.[1]
Meanwhile, plans for making vehicles in South Bend, Indiana and selling them in the US have been "halted", and the company announced layoffs at their California office.[2]
Overview
The Seres SF5 was initially unveiled as a concept in 2018 alongside the SF7, however, this was revised to the production SF5 in early 2019.[3][full citation needed] The SF5 has a 17-inch screen on the center console, and is one of the first vehicles to ever utilize the Ali OS 2.0 infotainment system.[4][full citation needed]
The tire dimensions of the SF5 are 255/45 R20 and 255/40 R21. The 2WD model is powered by one motor and the AWD model is powered by two motors with the motor capable of producing a maximum of 116hp.The range extended versions is equipped with a SFG15TR 1.5 liter engine producing 112hp as the range extender with the combined fuel consumption of 1.1L/100km and 1.2L/100km for the 2WD and AWD models.[5][full citation needed]
Mass production version has a price range from 278,000 to 458,000 yuan.[6][full citation needed]
