Commercials

I looked up Rula Lenska to refresh my memory of the tv commercials I had seen in the 1970s. The article in Wikipedia refers to an ad for Alberto VO5. I do not remember the ad being for Alberto VO5. I remember Ms Lenska saying, "My name is Rula Lenska", then she went on to say that she enjoys entertaining her friends at home over a glass of the drink being advertised. The commercials I remember seeing advertised a beverage, not Alberto VO5. I remember the ad showing her friends sitting by the swimming pool, drink in hand. Also, I do not recall her saying, "I'm ...", but "My name is...". I am not saying the article is incorrect, memory can be corrupted in time, but I thought this might be of interest. This article states: "appeared in a United States television advert (sic) that presented her as a celebrity, even though she was not widely known there at the time" It's safe to say that, commercials aside, she never was well known in the U.S. - indeed that was a standing joke here for years: some obscure, not obviously talented or attractive, English woman touting hair products as if she were some great celebrity.

Countess?

In spite of the 2 sources quoted here, I am cautious about whether she was born a countess, she probably inherited the title on the death of a parent. Comments? PatGallacher (talk) 11:44, 23 March 2012 (UTC)

IMDb and The Encylopedia of British Film (ed. MacFarlane, 2003, p.391) also give 'Countess' as part of her birth/real name. The Penguin Television Companion (ed. Evans, 2006, p.489) omits Countess, but mangles Lenska's original name as given elsewhere. Philip Cross (talk) 12:15, 23 March 2012 (UTC)

Claiming that "Countess" was part of her name is getting into a different ball game, it is normally a title. Normally a title like this would be inherited from somebody's parents. IMDB is not infallible. PatGallacher (talk) 14:32, 23 March 2012 (UTC)

"Leopoldyna/Leopoldnya"

I rv this purported middle name (variant spellings) or whatever it was supposed to be as it was not part of her name when her birth was registered in 1947 (as per www.findmypast.co.uk) as Rosa M L Lubienski, so what the "L" stood for is impossible to discern as of now. "advert"

Should the word "advert" in the opening section - presumable a British word - be changed to the American "advertisement" for clarity?Chagallophile (talk) 19:47, 11 March 2013 (UTC)

Samantha Eggar, NOT Lenska

Someone added in:

"In another TV commercial, this time for RCA, she states "My hair is a brilliant red, my eyes a dazzling green and if you're not seeing that you're not watching on an RCA television"."

NOT SO. It was British Actress Samantha Eggar in the RCA color track commercial, not Lenska. Eggar's exact statement, which also became part of the "quoted 1970s" was:

"My eyes are green, my hair is auburn and my dress is vivid red..."

I also seem to remember that the line became some what of a stepping off point for a sketch either on Sonny and Cher, or Carol Burnett.

Cliches

this article is supposed to describe who Rula Lensa is. It is not to make jokes about what perception you think Americans had about her just because Johnny Carson made a joke about her.
