Hello! Thanks for this revert at Mark Crispin Miller. The IP opened a discussion at Wikipedia:Teahouse § What defines 'constructive'? asking for clarification on why their edits were removed (presumably, WP:POV and removing information cited to WP:RS). I figured you might be interested in participating. Keep up the good work. RoxySaunders (talk · contribs) 17:11, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

About the Ice Age: Scrat Tales Draft

Just to clear some confusion, I didn’t move the draft to main space before any of the draft reviews could review it, nor did I tell the person who did it to do so. I’m going to leave a message on their talk page asking them to please not do that again because not only is it frustrating to draft reviewers to have to deal with that literally right before the page was going to be reviewed but also because now administrators have to go through the hassle of merging the draft’s history into the main space article. SlySabre (talk) 12:22, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@SlySabre I guess I didn't clarify well in the decline reason, but I had noticed it was another user who had moved it. I've already left them a template message on their talk page warning them against copying pages. >>> Ingenuity.talk(); 12:25, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Wow you got back with me pretty quickly, lol. Anyways please disregard some of the above as I have noticed that, like you’ve said, you have already let them know in the meantime. Thank you for handling and taking care of this. SlySabre (talk) 12:27, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

IShowSpeed

You declined the draft of the famous content creator "IshowSpeed". He has enough supporters for his own page. I really would like to know about the removal on the draft. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bradley Atchley (talkcontribs) 17:03, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Bradley Atchley: the draft needs reliable, secondary, and independent sources. Feel free to add some and resubmit, just please keep in mind that subscriber counts do not establish notability. >>> Ingenuity.talk(); 17:25, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Is it Ok if I Use other sites such as wikitubia or youtube for my sources? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bradley Atchley (talkcontribs) 17:35, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Bradley Atchley: Youtube is not reliable, because it is not independent, and Wikitubia is user-generated and also should not be used. Instead, try searching for news articles about them. >>> Ingenuity.talk(); 17:41, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

AntiVandal Script

Hello I just wanted to say that I find it very neat that you are able to make your own AntiVandalism script. SkyTheWolf (Talk) 13:07, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@SkyWolf369 thanks! I mainly just wanted a web-based interface similar to Huggle, and I have way too much free time... :P >>> Ingenuity.talk(); 13:08, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Do you mind if I read through the code and see if I can find anything that could be tweaked I enjoy working on JavaScript code in my free time. Of course I will consult you before I make any changes if you would like. SkyTheWolf (Talk) 13:10, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@SkyWolf369 that's fine! However only the user and interface admins can edit user js pages, so let me know if you have any suggestions. The code itself is a bit of a mess right now (it was originally meant as an Electron application, and most of the code was copied directly from there.) >>> Ingenuity.talk(); 13:13, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Do you mind if I make a copy then and put my edits on my copy? SkyTheWolf (Talk) 13:14, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@SkyWolf369 yep, that's fine. >>> Ingenuity.talk(); 13:15, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ok neato. SkyTheWolf (Talk) 13:15, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Cool tool, thanks for creating this. 🙂 Just noticed it in an edit summary. I've been looking for a browser-based Huggle replacement for quite a while. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 17:17, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Questions on saving my article from deletion

Hi ingenuity my changes were accidental, I noticed you are a well experienced user on Wikipedia so I am hoping you can help me save my article from deletion. If you have any tips or edits to help me save my article it would be super helpful, I’m trying to write as accurately as possible, and having someone who knows about Wikipedia weigh in would be greatly appreciated. Thanks —THEWIKISMITH THEWIKISMITH (talk) 02:52, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@THEWIKISMITH: Unfortunately I don't think there's anything you can do to save that article. It doesn't meet our notability guideline for actors, as they only had one minor role in an episode of a show. To have an article, they need to have several non-trivial roles. >>> Ingenuity.talk(); 02:59, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The said actor in the article has had other roles on tv, this role was simply his most notable Would citing additional roles improve the article’s chances? THEWIKISMITH (talk) 03:02, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Also if it is unable to be saved is there a way I can put it in sandbox so I can make changes to it for submission at a latter date? THEWIKISMITH (talk) 03:07, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@THEWIKISMITH: you can either create a draft in your personal sandbox (User:THEWIKISMITH/sandbox) or in the draft namespace (Draft:Your title here). >>> Ingenuity.talk(); 10:33, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. I reorganized the article according to XEP-0459 which is in the article and the link itself says about suggested XEPs, which IMHO explain this perfectly clear:

> Users need a way to compare applications without resorting to comparing for individual XEP numbers.
> For users, this provides an easy way to compare implementations based on their respective advertised compliance levels and year.

in a similar spirit i built Comparison of XMPP clients and reoganized Comparison of BitTorrent clients too. I think it fits perfectly into the Wikipedia convention where we avoid original research and we don't come up with our own arbitrary features that should be in the program. Cheers Twomithe (talk) 14:10, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Twomithe: oh, sorry about that! I didn't realize you were removing stuff that you had just added. I've reverted my edit. Sorry! >>> Ingenuity.talk(); 14:14, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
well, by accident, I hit "edit source" somewhere in the article, not clicked edit the entire article. Congratulation on your watchfulness! Twomithe (talk) 14:17, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

An award for you!

How do I make a page for a convicted pedophiIe without "violating BLP"? --2A01:36D:1201:34D:61BC:45D9:2CEA:8AD5 (talk) 12:14, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Well, a good start would be not creating a page with the title "People i hate" and repeating "xxx is a pedophile". Any page also needs to be sourced with reliable sources or it will be deleted as an attack page. >>> Ingenuity.talk(); 12:21, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"Michael H" was outed by a Twitter user, there is no major coverage about his pedophilic activities. --2A01:36D:1201:34D:61BC:45D9:2CEA:8AD5 (talk) 12:25, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If there is no major coverage there cannot be an article about them. >>> Ingenuity.talk(); 12:27, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

@Pabsoluterince, thanks for doing that. >>> Ingenuity.talk(); 22:43, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ingenuity! I hope you're doing well and that you're having a great day! While I was handling Moonlol1's shenanigans and putting that user into a time-out corner, I noticed that they attempted to modify your user page in order to vandalize and add derogatory remarks to it. Also, upon seeing that edit filter log, I quickly drew the obvious conclusion that your user page isn't protected, which leaves it wide open for attacks and... unpleasantness.

I went ahead and applied indefinite semi-protection from editing, as well as indefinite full-protection from moving - to your user page. That will definitely make it a lot harder for bad-faith users to be able to do anything to it. ;-) Anyways, I just wanted to let you know. Thanks for keeping the place nice and clean, and I wish you happy editing! :-) Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 01:11, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

New page reviewer granted

Hi Ingenuity. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. signed, Rosguill talk 19:49, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Emily J. Miller revert

Why was my edit reverted? I'm trying to get the page back into accordance with Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Gender_identity Pingiun (talk) 17:39, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Pingiun you changed every instance of "she" and "her" to "no" -- maybe this was a mistake? >>> Ingenuity.talk(); 17:41, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Ingenuity I'm interpreting this part of the manual of style: "Refer to any person whose gender might be questioned with gendered words (e.g. pronouns, "man/woman", "waiter/waitress") that reflect the person's latest expressed gender self-identification as reported in the most recent reliable sources, even if it does not match what is most common in sources.". Currently on the twitter profile of Emily J. Miller no states no prefers no/no pronouns: https://twitter.com/emilymiller. I don't think this clear preference should be ignored Pingiun (talk) 17:44, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Pingiun I'm actually not sure what to do in that situation. Usually, when someone does not go by he/she pronouns, "them" is used since using person-specific pronouns are likely to cause confusion for readers. >>> Ingenuity.talk(); 17:48, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Ingenuity Maybe I should edit the article to use no pronouns and instead restate the name? Pingiun (talk) 17:51, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Pingiun that seems like a good idea to avoid confusion. >>> Ingenuity.talk(); 18:37, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No, it would not be a good idea. Certain activists and personalities have been mocking the LGBT community and pronoun usage for years, e.g. Ms. "My pronoun is Patriot", and it is only becoming more prominent with the advent of social media. Emily Miller, a correspondent for the far-right One America News Network does not sincerely or genuinely use "no/no" as her gender-preferred pronouns. Zaathras (talk) 22:19, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Zaathras oh, thanks for pointing that out... I didn't realize they were just making fun of the LGBT community... I'll keep that in mind in the future >>> Ingenuity.talk(); 22:55, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No prob, and apologies if I came in hot and guns blazing here, it's just hard to deal with the hate out there, and its frustrating to see it start to see blue-checkmarked social media personalities' antics start tom seep into the Wikipedia. Zaathras (talk) 23:12, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Account moderation

Hey Ingenuity, This account has seemed to been compromised from multiple different instances and has had a history of some questionable edits to a school page, and I really want nothing to do with the edits made by others. The edits were not constructive and I'm afraid that I will be linked to this spree of vandalism. I don't know if you are the right person to ask, but I was wondering about an account deletion or deletion of previous edits tied to the account and school page. Thanks DoganTozoglu (talk) 23:13, 15 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@DoganTozoglu: I'm afraid that it's not possible to delete an account (because of some attribution issues). I think this page may help you: Wikipedia:Courtesy vanishing -- essentially you can be renamed to "vanished user 1341234" etc. However, since your account has been used for vandalism, it may not be regarded as "in good standing", but it's worth a shot. >>> Ingenuity.talk(); 23:22, 15 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Cleaner userscript

Hi Ingenuity, thank you so much for developing User:Ingenuity/cleaner, do you plan on making updates to the script? Justiyaya 04:11, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Justiyaya I was planning to make some updates, to add more features or to fix the existing bugs, within the next few weeks. I've been focusing more on my AntiVandal script over the last little while, but I've got that in a good enough state that I'll be able to work on the cleaner script soon. >>> Ingenuity.talk(); 10:51, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nice! Can you potentially include the ability for the script to also fix another kind of curly quotes()? Another thing is that when the script notices an article doesn't have {{reflist}}, can it check for ==References== in order to not duplicate sections? Example for both can be found at Special:Diff/1087920192. Thanks again for making the script, it saved me a lot of time (especially with the relocate references feature) and made me make corrections that I otherwise wouldn't have noticed.
