The result of the discussion was: procedural close. WP:PUF is not the venue for non-free files. Marked for lacking fair use rationale instead. — ξxplicit 00:44, 30 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Delete: Hungarian stamps are copyright for at least 70 years per Commons:Commons:Stamps/Public domain templates and the image is not being use in two non-stamp articles used to illustrate the topic in a stamp without any fair-use rationale so fails WP:NFC#Images #3 and its current use also fails WP:NFCC#8 because and its purpose could be perfectly well explained in prose without the necessity of using a non-free image and the image does not increase the reader's understanding of the articles without any critical commentary. ww2censor (talk) 02:04, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Note: This image is currently tagged as non-free. If there is a dispute with the rationale, please tag the image with {{dfu}} or list it at WP:Non-free content review. Otherwise, unless there is another reason for listing here, the listing will be closed by an administrator and the image kept. AnomieBOT⚡ 21:07, 24 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- File:Christmas Puppet Show.jpg (delete | talk | history | logs).
- Lots of confusion about this image. It's a poster from the Soviet Union, made available here by the Library of Congress, which says it was created or published in Moscow between 1925 and 1935. The artist died in 1942. We don't know when it was first published. We have no publication dates apart from when it appeared on the Library of Congress site. The uploader argues that it's in the public domain in the U.S. because 50 years had passed between the artist's death and Russia's entry into the URAA, and he refers to this page to support him. The Russian Federation's copyright laws replaced those of the old Soviet Union in 1993, then changed again in 2008: see Copyright law of the Russian Federation. Any help in sorting this out would be appreciated. SlimVirgin talk contribs 22:03, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- I would tag it as {{Keep local}} because since the artist died in 1942, it will still be copyrighted in Russia (pretty much, anything before the start of the Great Patriotic War is going to be public domain; anything during or after will have some sort of copyright.) - User:Zuludancer removed the film poster from the article (Life During Wartime) claiming "the poster image was posted without permission and violates the copyrights of the production company and the film's distributors." I reverted him twice and he finally emailed me and identified himself as Mark Steele who works at Werc Werk Works (the production company) and sent the following:
- "Just wanted to follow-up on the post for Life During Wartime poster. Basically, the poster that has been floating around was not intended for release and due to recent legal reasons cannot be used. It was sent around for distributors to review ahead of time, and a lot of people ended up jumping the gun and posting it. IFC is working on a final domestic poster and Artificial Eye (UK distributor) should have the poster we've decided to use over there posted online soon. If I can track down a recent proof of that one I will post it up on Wikipedia." —Mike Allen 23:12, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
