The Daily Earth

Hi Espresso Addict, I saw you declined the speedy deletion of The Daily Earth, and I'm hoping you'll reconsider. It is a promotion of a website created by a blocked Wikipedia user (Anisur Rahman Niloy - @Vinegarymass911 has filed an SPI), and the sources either do not mention The Daily Earth, or are hoax articles created by Niloy. It's clear from the Internet Archive that The Daily Earth was created today (not 2015). The "Daily News Today" source is another one of Niloy's websites that the sock attempted to promote, and the article was posted today but backdated to 2016. Politanvm talk 03:16, 5 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Politanvm: -- Was just going offline when I received this message so apologies for any incoherency. IMO Speedy deletion is reserved for completely unambiguous cases; if significant digging is required to confirm the article isn't suitable then a longer time frame (ie prod or AfD) is almost always appropriate. Mere presumption of paid editing or socking is not sufficient. Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 03:32, 5 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I was just going to PRD this. Any reason it should go straight to AfD?Just Another Cringy Username (talk) 23:58, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Just Another Cringy Username: Well, I would oppose a prod too, so it would be a bit of a waste of both of our times. With long-standing articles that have been edited by multiple people, it's almost always best to have a proper discussion, with time to uncover and weigh new sources, and get a community view on whether the topic is suitable or not. Hello IP editor. Two different admins have now told you that the draft isn't suitable for deletion under the G11 criterion. Drafts are not articles and are not visible to search engines, so they are not required to be finished articles, nor to have sources. The forum to discuss deletion of drafts is Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion. You can express your concerns on the draft's talk page. Espresso Addict (talk) 02:50, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Undelete Request

The Page, "Saeedullah Safi" was incomplete and I was just about to update it, I'm sorry. Please can I have it back?

Hello Saeedullah Safi7. I note that this is the second time the article has been deleted. The article is promotional and the subject appears unlikely to meet the notability guidelines for journalists at this time. I also note that your user name includes the subject's name, and assume that you are or represent the subject? If so then you should read WP:Autobiography immediately; writing about yourself is strongly discouraged. Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 02:16, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

New administrator activity requirement

The administrator policy has been updated with new activity requirements following a successful Request for Comment.

Beginning January 1, 2023, administrators who meet one or both of the following criteria may be desysopped for inactivity if they have:

  1. Made neither edits nor administrative actions for at least a 12-month period OR
  2. Made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period

Administrators at risk for being desysopped under these criteria will continue to be notified ahead of time. Thank you for your continued work.

how is my content was considered as a HOAX to delete it immediately buddy ? i am literally providing a legit source to the content and i am not related to it, as mentioned. and editing the last line could remove it from Vandalism too. I DON'T THINK ADMINISTRATOR IS THINKING AT ALL BEFORE ARRIVING AT DECISIONS OR 'HAVE ANY IDEA ABOUT MUSIC OR ITS GENRE MAN'. i want to REPORT as i doubt this person as an administrator anywhere, but don't mind please it's just a doubt buddy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Readyon (talkcontribs) 15:42, 25 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Andrewgprout is reverting edits from Chandigarh - Vistara operates UK707 using A321N IXC-DEL-CCU with same aircraft, same flight number and pax does not disembark from plane. That is direct route via DEL. I have made attempt to chat with him on his chat page and he didn’t cared about and still reverted the edits and in the past he has got several warning for edits. I want to report this user. I dont know how I can. Admin please help and look into this matter. 649pardeep (talk) 07:28, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello 649pardeep -- Apologies for the delayed response. I'm afraid I don't deal with user conduct matters so you will need to ask another admin to advise you. If the editor has broken the three-reverts within 24 hours rule you can report their behaviour at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring but you should be aware that your edits will also be scrutinised. Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 10:36, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, would you please check the article if the edit that user made is correct or not. Chandigarh Airport - Airlines and Destinations - Vistara - It operates direct flight from Chandigarh to Kolkata via Delhi without changing anything as UK 707 and even airline’s website mentions the same. 649pardeep (talk) 17:05, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@649pardeep: I'm afraid I don't edit in the area of aviation. You can take your concerns to the article's talk page, which you don't seem to have edited yet, or to the talk page of Wikipedia:WikiProject Airports. Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 21:58, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. This is regarding Waldemar W. Koczkodaj the page violates the Wikipedia guidelines as it is a self promotion page. The person has no contribution towards change in society or a research which has any breakthrough which benefit society nor the person has ever been interviewed on news or any article has been published by any news or scientific agency about his contribution. There are many people on google scholar who has many publication but they are also not on Wikipedia as there are no significant contribution towards society. I request you to please revert the changes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Grammerwikiedits (talkcontribs) 20:51, 27 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Grammerwikiedits. I suggest that you read the WP:PROF guideline, which describes how the notability of academics is measured, and if you feel that the subject does not meet that guideline, you take the article to WP:Articles for Deletion. Hi dear, Please can you review the page again, I think this guy important to have a wiki page. First, he is the founder of "hatha al-youm" Second he is the one of the people who was threatened on Telegram by groups loyal to Tehran on charges of normalization with Israel, During the hacking of the website of The Kurdistan 24 Channel and revealed the conversations in the emails of employees as well as the list of phones. Texts can be shortened and stay as you see fit..

Please review Draft:Amnon Rapoport

Hi Espresso Addict -- Many thanks for your comments and suggestions. I added three of the subject's books and one book review for each of them. I also tried to keep the language neutral. Cheers Gooseberry487 (talk) 18:52, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gooseberry487 -- Thanks for updating the draft. Is there a version of the foreward to the Budescu et al. edited collection available online anywhere? We can't use GoodReads links, and anyway, it didn't seem to have the text. That would be very helpful because it is independent writing about Rapoport, rather than by him.
I don't review drafts unless it's an area I'm very familiar with, which this isn't, so unfortunately you will just have to wait for a regular reviewer to stop by. Despite the warning about the waiting list, actually most drafts get reviewed quite promptly. Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 00:18, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Espresso Addict -- Thank you for further improving my draft. Regarding the independent source for Budescu et al., I found the reference to the abstract that talks about the subject's work and impact ("pioneer and leader"). I updated the reference to it and left everything else unchanged. Thanks also for the heads-up regarding the reviewing process! Cheers Gooseberry487 (talk) 00:31, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you delete Notwoways?

You could’ve just moved it to the draftspace. Do you know how long I spent writing that? Can I get a copy of it? CitationIsNeeded 06:56, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello CitationIsNeeded -- After sleeping on this request I've decided restoration to draft probably won't do any harm: Draft:Notwoways. It needs a great deal more work to demonstrate notability with sources independent of the company, and the current version reads fairly promotionally -- many admins would delete it as promotional if tagged again, even in draftspace. I suggest you read WP:NCOMPANY carefully before spending any more time on the article.
I also must ask for the record, do you have any connection with the company? Or are you being paid for writing about it? If so you must disclose your connection or any compensation you are receiving; see WP:Conflict of interest & WP:Paid-contribution disclosure. Ben Cruachan Quarry Branch

Why did you deprod Ben Cruachan Quarry Branch? Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 16:15, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@TenPoundHammer: Because I was under the impression we were building an encyclopedia? The main reason for actually bothering to delete an article on a long-defunct entity (rather than, say, correcting it, sourcing it, moving it, or merging it) would be if the subject had never existed, which no-one seems to be arguing, and indeed there are plenty of reliable sources on its existence. Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 21:34, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
"There are sources". Prove it. Everyone says "but but but, there are sources! I know, I saw them with my own two eyes" but no one ever dumps them in the article. Are we supposed to just work on the honor system now? And deletion is a way to build an encyclopedia. We can't have an article on literally everything if we can't verify it even existed. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 21:49, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I spent some time earlier collating some online sources and was adding them to the deletion discussion when your message interrupted me. If I could get to the library on the mainland, there might well be ones from actual books, but I'm not quite willing to spend an entire day on a principle. Espresso Addict (talk) 21:54, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Then why not say all that in your de-prod rationale? Otherwise it just looks like you're de-prodding just for the hell of it. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 21:59, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Because it took me hours of searching to find suitable stuff online; my deprod was based on the high probability that offline sources exist, given the extensive coverage of the granite quarrying industry locally, and the mass of information in tourist/walking guides to Ben Cruachan and the Cruachan Power Station. Espresso Addict (talk) 23:03, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A kitten for you!

I've tried with the one user for a few years after finding their articles by accident. Improved quite a few. Added references. Tagged. That sort of thing. I left talk page messages and eventually started nominating some articles for deletion and prodding. I never got a response; my messages were deleted eventually like I see yours just was. I wished the user would just respond in some way, but they kept on creating with no improvements. They seem to want to create a Wikipedia article for every organization and many people as well as some places within Christianity... usually without sourcing and in some cases without suggesting notability. Then I went to a board for help and I'd make references about the issues with the user creating unreferenced articles and the user got a talk page comment from someone (which is fine; I'm not criticizing the person who did that) to which they never responded. Today, when I read that the user had recreated an expired prod, I thought it had reached a point of madness. But then I went to the talk page and saw the history and see that you solved the problem without even being asked for help directly! Removing the autopatrolled privileges should slow down the creation of unreferenced articles. At the very least, others will see the articles and be able to help manage them. You're a winning admin. Hope you like dogs. --DiamondRemley39 (talk) 22:56, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

DiamondRemley39 Aw, cute! Thanks! It's frustrating when editors persist in contributions that require substantial clean up work by others and consistently refuse to engage in dialogue. Everyone's entitled to make mistakes -- I fear my first articles are cringeworthy to look at now -- and I know some people find communication on talk pages difficult for a whole range of reasons, but there comes a point... I don't usually intervene in editor conduct issues (I stick to the deletion side of adminship) but those articles really needed to go through new page patrol!
I'm not sure what to advise if you encounter another problem editor in future. I hate to point anyone at WP:ANI but that's probably the correct forum for complaints; however you need to be absolutely sure (1) your own conduct is above reproach; and (2) the editor richly deserves to be thrown to the piranhas! Sometimes it's best to just walk away in the knowledge that someone else will (eventually) deal with the problem.
Nice to meet you, anyway! Espresso Addict (talk) 02:06, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please recover that article. I also provide references in article. Reason are delectation are not satisfied. Please recover article Jaki0786 (talk) 11:36, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jaki0786 -- Re Sufi hamd ali shah; the version I deleted is an incoherent jumble that does not establish anything about why the subject is notable. The only source is Jaki, Mo (2022). Sirat e sufi e millat. Bhanpur: Mo jaki. pp. 1–3. ISBN 978-93-5627-669-7, which I am assuming is written by you? The ISBN does not seem to be valid, so I can't verify that the book exists.
Are there any other sources available? All articles are required to have multiple reliable sources that are independent of the subject.
If you can provide a working ISBN for your book and also at least one or two different sources (not just different pages of the same book) then I could consider whether moving the material into draft would be more helpful than simply starting again from scratch. However, I'd suggest getting a native English speaker to translate for you, as the draft was so incoherent it was impossible to see where the notability might lie. Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 14:28, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Astle Hall and Removal

Hello I have read the COI you attached and I have seen where I have gone wrong. At first I thought you were a bit annoying but I saw you've been on Wikipedia for a long time so you know what your talking about,my hat is off to you so I respect what you have said . Please could you help me in removing the page I feel quite bad for what I have done the information you found was quite interesting. If you are continuing with the page I could provide you with information about the original house during ww2 and the house's use after the war and before it was fully knocked down. Regards Tom TomCaunce3 (talk) 21:52, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@TomCaunce3: Hi Tom -- Thanks for responding. I used to live in Cheshire (near Nantwich) in a listed building so I wrote a lot of articles back then about local listed buildings, and still have the books even though I'm now in Scotland.
History of the original Astle Hall would be interesting, but it's important to understand that Wikipedia only includes information that has already been published elsewhere in reliable sources, rather than things you might have learned by archival research or talking to locals -- so what would be most useful is local history books or newspaper articles that talk about the history. I've looked through all my local history books for the county and not found anything, but my set is focused on the Crewe & Nantwich area. You could try going to your local library -- Nantwich library had a great local history section. I'll try some academic library searches in a minute.
I don't honestly know what would make a building like the modern one sufficiently notable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. Private residential buildings dating from the 1990s are not usually the focus of non-trivial reliable independent coverage, so unless it won some kind of an architectural award there is unlikely to be the kind of coverage that Wikipedia counts.
A photo of the listed lodge would also be great, if you could take one. There's a photo on Geograph[1] but I think it's the wrong lodge. Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 22:20, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Thanks for responding. You are right about that picture on Geograph looks nothing like the actual lodge and I will try and take a picture of the lodge (when the owners aren't looking!). Can't believe you left the best county in the country to move to Scotland! Only joking!! I think I have heard that there is a book about the original hall and it's 18th and 19th century occupants somewhere so I'll look and ask around for it. If there is a book and I do find it would you like me to email pictures of important pages or maybe you to borrow it so you can type up. Cheers TomCaunce3 (talk) 22:39, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@TomCaunce3: Hi there -- A book about the original hall would be very helpful. I've sometimes worked from scanned/photographed pages in the past so if you find something good that isn't available online anywhere, that might be a way to go. Just drop me a note on this page if you find something as things like pings often fail to go through. (Cheshire's a lovely county, particularly your side of it, but you don't get deer in the garden and eagles and hen harriers flying past the window.) Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 07:09, 25 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Have have found the book! and have scanned the pages. How would you like me to send them to you? TomCaunce3 (talk) 16:00, 25 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for deleting a page

Hi, can you expand upon the reasoning for the removal of the controlled opposition page on May 4, 2022? Was it unsourced, or did the sources have clear bias? Who was attacked in it?

The content was a disorganised jumble in which multiple living people were attacked. There were no sources whatsoever. Mary Ridge Article

Hey @Espresso Addict, I recidened the AfD for Mary Ridge. If there is anything I can do to be useful with improving the article please just let me know. I didn't realize Mary Ridge was as important as they are so I hope I didn't step on any toes or anything with the nomination. Dr vulpes (💬📝) 05:28, 25 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
