Two boxes

Hi Martin! In regard to this edit, please see {{They}} where they have also applied two boxes. This seems to be what is wanted, so I applied both boxes to {{Their}}, as well. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'r there 11:19, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Seems excessive to me, especially as they both point to the same discussion? I assume the requests were made by an automated script rather than a deliberate choice. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 11:28, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I've asked the placing editor about this at Template talk:They#Edit request to complete TfD nominations. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'r there 12:17, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

WikidataIB

Hi!

I saw you recently edited WikidataIB and its sandbox. I would love to use it to achieve what is detailed here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Chemicals#Implementation

At the moment, it looks like we cannot have references and maxval limit at the same time. I am looking for some Lua wizard that could achieve this as I am not confident in doing it myself. Could you help? AdrianoRutz (talk) 06:25, 7 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I just saw this discussion. I will not participate in it because of who the proposer is, I just wanted to thank you for sharing your alternative viewpoint. You might also be interested in List of people killed by and disappeared during the Brazilian military dictatorship - which was started from a Wikidata list, and is actively being maintained on Wikidata by wikimedians in Brazil (it's a featured list on pwiki), but on enwiki it's now static so it won't get any updates from that work. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 13:20, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Mike. I know the bot-updated variations of these lists did not meet with community approval, but I believe the current approach using Module:Wikidata table will assuage most concerns. Of course there are a vocal minority who will oppose any such proposals but I think the discussion you have seen shows a balanced and pragmatic view from the community in general. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 14:45, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
By the way I have been working on a tool to make it easier to import data from Wikipedia tables into Wikidata. You might like to have a look at Module:Import table and an example of the results at Module talk:Import table/testcases — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 14:47, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Good luck! The approach with creating individual table rows misses out on additions of new items to be included in the tables, which is a shame - the bot would have added them. But at least it's a step forward if enwiki accepts it. Making it easier to import data into Wikidata is also always good! I just wish we could stop arguing about 'us' vs. 'them' rather than just working together within Wikimedia. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 20:50, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Just letting you know that List of lighthouses in China which you are editing now appears in Category:Articles using Cite rowlett template with invalid page designation. Have fun editing! --Muhandes (talk) 00:01, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I just realized you are also editing Template:Cite Rowlett‎‎ so you are probably aware of this. --Muhandes (talk) 00:03, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Kurose Dam is listed in two prefectures

I'm not familiar enough with Japan's prefecture system to say whether this is definitely a mistake, but both List of dams in Hiroshima Prefecture and List of dams in Ehime Prefecture include Kurose Dam.

Related to this issue, would it be possible to generate the lists automatically from a Wikidata SPARQL query (e.g. a query to grab all "dams located in the administrative territorial entity of Ehime Prefecture")? That way manual mistakes like this wouldn't be possible and these would be a lot easier to maintain. Nicereddy (talk) 17:53, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, actually looking at the source, I guess there are two separate dams both named Kurose Dam. It may be a mistake where the Wikidata items were merged together, despite representing distinct dams? Nicereddy (talk) 18:00, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
