Suspected sockpuppets

PageOneEditor and Wikidirt seem to be created solely for the deletion of material on Dennis L. Montgomery, no other contributions elsewhere. The two accounts use similar language about protecting family members in summaries. History shows alternating reverts of other editors reverting their blanking to avoid 3RR block (see history of Dennis L. Montomery). Similar mention of threats as on the talk page. Highly likely the two accounts are related. History of the page shows even more suspicious accounts. [1][2][3][4][5] It is possible that some legal firm is behind the edits as well. Request checkuser to see if there are any other accounts hidden away. ηoian ‡orever ηew ‡rontiers 09:47, 17 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: Regardless of whether or not the editors claim of harm is true or not (I do think that keeping family information off is good), the usage of these many accounts seems to be aimed at avoiding 3RR. Also the IP was chosen as the master account since I don't know which of these is the actual account. ηoian ‡orever ηew ‡rontiers 09:51, 17 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've suggest on the IP's talk page that they contact Wikimedia legal. Merely doing this (what this editor was begging for, basically) will probably be enough to stop the sockpuppetry. Oiyarbepsy (talk) 20:50, 17 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets

[edit]

Fixtherecord and PageOneEditor are already confirmed sockpuppets of YCWebCrawler. DLM45 appears to be latest incarnation.

The talk page for the Dennis L. Montgomery article has a series of semi-protected edit requests (and edit/reversions) that are very similar.

Notably, as the series of edit requests show, DLM45 repeatedly requests that information about Montgomery's personal lawyer be removed, as well as the use of the word "hoax".

YCWebCrawler made a similar edit request.

Fixtherecord made a similar edit request.

Fixtherecord also made similar edits here, here, here, here, here, and here. Weazie (talk) 00:31, 23 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This is obviously misfiled and should be moved to the master's case.--Bbb23 (talk) 00:51, 23 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies, Bbb23, I did not know that this should have been filed in the master case. Can you (or another helpful user) please make the necessary move? Thanks! --Weazie (talk) 01:11, 23 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Not to worry - a clerk will move it.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:13, 23 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
 Done. Merged from Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/DLM45. GABgab 02:49, 24 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets

[edit]

This account was just created at 17:19, 16 March 2017 (UTC), three weeks after the account DLM45 was indef blocked as a suspected sockpuppet of YCWebCrawler. The only edit from the new Sniper605 account has been to file an edit request that targets the same article and is very similar in character to the type of editing recently exhibited by DLM45 – specifically, it requested the removal of reliably sourced negative information from the Dennis L. Montgomery article without providing a reliable source of alternative facts. —BarrelProof (talk) 01:27, 17 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Concur with BarrelProof's analysis, and to add that the latest user's writing style is similar to the style of previously banned sockpuppets. --Weazie (talk) 03:19, 17 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
