April 2017

[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Dane. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions —the one you made with this edit to Malcolm Dixon (actor)— because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. -- Dane talk 17:56, 10 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Other lang desks

[edit]

Hey IP. I just wanted to let you know, the Russian Wikipedia shut down their reference desk, so there would actually be nowhere to direct the user who recently showed up at our own. It wouldn't matter anyway, since this particular user has been banned from the Russian Wikipedia for writing the same sort of gibberish (but in Russian) that he writes here. Draw your own conclusions. Someguy1221 (talk) 18:23, 21 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, No, it was a Hollywood for sure, I saw it on Star Movies or HBO. I remember clearly the cast was white. Saw it in late '80. [1]

To the Vietnam vet

[edit]

...who wrote today on the Humanities Reference desk - I appreciate the personal testimony you provided. So much of Wikipedia is necessarily impersonal (objective, balanced, neutral point of view) and requires citing reliable published sources that can be verified, I wasn't expecting to read that but it brought me back, even though in 1969 I was just a h.s. junior in a Los Angeles suburb. I want to encourage you to keep contributing to Wikipedia however suits you best. (Personally I like having a User account.) And to prove it's a community of sorts, I'm writing this response here, as one person who read what you wrote and thanks you for contributing to our collective understanding. -- Cheers, Deborahjay (talk) 19:32, 16 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Dis/disk

[edit]

Hi 209, I don't know if you're a single individual or if a bunch of people use this IP, but in case you're the one who added the note about "dis" to the language refdesk, I was curious if you could elaborate there. Discussion here. --Trovatore (talk) 18:13, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ice on a hot car window ?

[edit]

I'm concerned that might make it crack. Maybe cold water would be safer ? SinisterLefty (talk) 17:30, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Car windows are not made of the same glass as what you'd find in a kitchen cabinet. You can use cold water, but it would just make it take longer to cool off the glass. 209.149.113.5 (talk) 17:35, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
