2CC templates need some bot work.

Hi. In Wikipedia:Templates_for_deletion/Log/2007_February_9#Template:2CC, you offered to use your bot to clean up the gazillions of pages that need changing after the TfD was over. Are you still willing? See Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Disambiguation#CC_templates_now_redirect_to_.7B.7Bdisambig.7D.7D for more details. -- RoySmith (talk) 18:54, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Of course! I've started the run. ST47Talk 19:44, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! -- RoySmith (talk) 19:59, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello - The European Library gives access to the combined resources of Europe's national libraries. In the El Cid wiki you removed a link to a valuable resource of this library gateway, to be exact to the 14th century El Cid codex (1245>1207). This link adds very relevant information on El Cid... sorry but I like to know your argumentation why you deleted this link. Thanks.Fleurstigter 19:59, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop making useless edits.

You are making large numbers of edits which only move a pre-existing stub template below the categories. The next time a pywikipediabot based bot (like most interlanguage bots) edits one of these pages it will move them back because the standard on enwiki is that categories go at the bottom as they are displayed. --Gmaxwell 21:48, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, forgot to check the bot to skip if no tag changed. ST47Talk 21:51, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
YOur bot just go listed at WP:AIV, you may want to halt it before one of us admins shuts it off.Rlevse 22:20, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Wee! Thanks for looking into this. :) --Gmaxwell 14:20, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bot block

Hi, I blocked STBot, it made an empty page, maybe more?, which only consisted of the {{wikify}} tag. Garion96 (talk) 22:29, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Forgot to mention an example. Milka Canic. Which already is deleted. Garion96 (talk) 22:38, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Looking into this now. ST47Talk 23:25, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK: When I copy/pasted the log into notepad, the trailing accent on Milka Canić was cut off. Due to a previous task, The bot was configured improperly and assumed that the page it was sent to was meant to be edited. ST47Talk 23:40, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

STbot

Your bot made this edit, which doesn't make a whole lotta sense. Just thought I'd let you know.--William Thweatt Talk | Contribs 22:41, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you refer to the heading change, WP:MOS#Sections_and_headings makes clear that only the first word of a heading, and any proper nouns, should be capitalized, so that edit is correct. Adding the DEFAULTSORT seems constructive to me, as it prevents accidental mis-sorting of the article subject in newly added categories. So I think that edit makes perfect sense. Just my $0.02. PS I'm not the bot operator. --Tkynerd 23:15, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, see 2 sections up, I forgot a checkbox on a few edits. ST47Talk 23:21, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why...

...did STbot remove interwiki links from Criticism of Wikipedia? I refer to this edit. --Tkynerd 23:05, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This particular one was linking to their Wikipedia namespace, which isn't an article page, and so the bot didn't like it. Sorry! ST47Talk 23:20, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can you explain why you tagged this article with AWB? As far as I can tell, it never existed before you tagged it. - Mgm|(talk) 11:13, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, that was due to a UTF-8 error that I corrected. ST47Talk 02:15, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This edit. --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 01:35, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And this edit. Sorry I have to inform an admin to block you for the moment. --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 02:29, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

From WP:AIV

As far as I can see, the only interwikis it removes are ones that go to non-existent pages. Either way, this is something that should be discussed on WP:AN/I, not here, as it is not clear-cut actual vandalism. —Krellis (Talk) 02:39, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ATOS

In December, the bot linked ATOS to a French wikipedia article, ATOS. Someone removed it (correctly), but then someone put it back. Now, the bot just updated the link to the French wikipedia article that is redirected from fr:ATOS, which is equally wrong. I deleted the transwiki; but, since I'm not sure why/how the original fr:ATOS transwiki was started, I thought I'd mention it here. Neier 14:18, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi ST47

I just noticed that 01 May, etc., redirect to April 1, etc. The other months seem to be OK. Thought you'd like to know.

^C^V strikes again !-) --Saintrain 23:03, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect redirect

You redirected all of the links like May 01 to dates in April. I replaced the nine that I saw, but you might want to review your contribution history to be sure that you didn't make any other mistakes. --Sopoforic 00:33, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Question about your bot.

Hi ST47. I am aware that you have a bot known as STBot that is capable at removing or changing categories. I was wondering if your bot is able to categorize bird articles according to the countries they are native to? For example: African Firefinch, Common Waxbill. These bird articles have more than 10 categories, thus it is extremely tedious to do it manually. Luffy487 12:01, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'd need some sort of reference to use. Given a list of pages and a list of categories, I can do this with perlwikipedia, simply by saying if ($content=~m/USA|US|United States/i) {$editor->edit($page, $content . "\nCategory:Birds of USA"); However, it'd need some source, either from a category or from a list. Let me know if that would work. ST47Talk 18:26, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well I am a bot illiterate. I don't understand what kind of source u required. Haha. But nevertheless you can try. Luffy487 09:15, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I just need something like a list of birds, I suppose a category would work. ST47Talk 10:36, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh i see. There are many different lists of species of birds. For example: Estrildid finch, Falconidae, Tinamou and etc. You can get the lists from an external link: birdlife.org Luffy487 06:34, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hey I just tried out AWB. I guess I know what u want. What I am asking for is to automatically replace category such as Category: Fauna of Indonesia from Aves articles into Category: Birds of Indonesia. Thanks! Luffy487 08:20, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I see. Is there consensus for this somewhere? ST47Talk 10:32, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not correct: Interwiki

In german Hanga (Sprache) means an african language and here it is part of hindu history.85.8.124.174 23:30, 12 March 2007 (UTC) http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Anga&oldid=95286020[reply]

incorrect interwiki for Anga

Hi! I'm passing on this message that was left on my talk page. —JeremyA (talk) 03:25, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I found this interwiki in the article Anga. But this interwiki is total wrong. In german wikipedia this interwiki Hanga (Sprache) means an article for an african language and in english wikipedia this article is part of hindu history. So can there be more than only a mistake...maybe a chaotic bot or a vandal bot. I write you, because i just elect an admin from the adminlist. GLGerman 23:43, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Am I in Trouble?

Help! Today I thought I had finally mastered all pertinent rules and procedures to accomplish what Wikipedia classifies as no more than a "minor" edit to existing articles (i.e., addition of an external link). I did so for eight carefully selected articles to no avail.

All eight edits were quickly deleted. The added links were to a unique compilation of twenty years of government-level expertise geared to need-to-know end-users likely interested in each of the eight topics. But, I gather that someone or something has determined the additions to be spam.

The deleted external link in question isn't a scam, isn't to sell anything, and isn't to promote anyone. Nor is it designed to impress search engines. The only purpose is to enhance understanding by augmenting topically pertinent articles. World-class research institutions already link to it.

I had started by drafting an email to Wikipedia asking for its permission to grant a link only to detect no suitable addressee. Can you please tell me what's wrong with the added links? Beats me? Please feel free to scan the site cited in the deleted edits and satisfy yourself. Look like spam?

To whom is an apology extended? From where is permission granted? Is the deleted link now on some blacklist? If so, how to delete it?

Please give it to me in simple English. Thanks! CCS 04:21, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good morning sir. Thanks for your contributions! As an encyclopedia, We are not a repository of links. Links are usually added for two reasons, as a source for an article or as further reading. Now, we have a WP:COI page that deals with conflicts of interest, as the founder of that website, we'd prefer that you try to contribute to areas in which you are not directly involved. Also, the page really doesn't seem to offer further information for readers. The page has been added to a list of links that require a revert on sight by a bot. You aren't blocked right now, so you're free to contribute. As for adding the link, I'd try the "village pump" as a way to ask others about the link. Thanks! ST47Talk 10:50, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your thoughtful and prompt assistance. I'll try to engage on the Talk page or one or more of the Wikipedia articles thought most relevant. Before I do, please help me understand what you mean by: The page has been added to a list of links that require a revert on sight by a bot. If my engagement with others is successful, will there be something blocking addition of an external link to my website? If so, what must I or they do about it? Thanks! CCS 13:56, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Have yet to hear back from you. Thought I'd try again. CCS 19:33, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry. It's possible that User:Beetstra blacklisted it within a bot, shadowbot, you should ask him and give a link to the discussions. ST47Talk 20:39, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
