New page reviewer granted

Hi GorgeCustersSabre. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. signed, Rosguill talk 04:17, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

While I think your editing record speaks for itself and that you will be an asset to the NPP team, I'd urge you to consider requesting a rename for your account. Editors whose articles you review may get the wrong impression from a username that invokes George Custer's weaponry. signed, Rosguill talk 04:21, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Orphan tag on Cheek by Jowl (book)

Hi @BoyTheKingCanDance, I noticed that you placed the orphan tag on Cheek by Jowl (book); however, the article is already linked to Ursula K. Le Guin bibliography. Is that not okay? UMStellify (talk) 06:13, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi my friend UMStellify, I hope you are well. On the New Page Review list that Wikipedia generates, it automatically flags some pages in bold red wording as orphans. Hence, I added the tags to those pages. But it seems perhaps that the system isn't perfect. Thanks for raising it with me. I'm grateful. BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 06:45, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for getting back to me. It might have raised the flag before I linked the article. Should I remove the orphan tag from the article then? UMStellify (talk) 06:52, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, UMStellify, I think that's what happened. By all means remove the tag. Best regards, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 07:42, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! Done. Tag has been removed. UMStellify (talk) 08:16, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Translation of Konfuz

Hi there once again @BoyTheKingCanDance,

I just wanted to clarify some things about the translation you've been editing. That was actually my first time doing a translation, so it was definitely bound to have mistakes in there. And I reverted the orphan tag because there was one article I found that could be linked (Mia Boyka). Feel free to mark up the page as you like, but I did want to bring this to your attention just so we're on the same page. Cheers! Losipov (talk) 06:43, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi dear friend, Losipov, I hope you are fine. Actually, your translation is extremely good. Well done. We all make a few little mistakes here and there, so please be proud of yourself for doing such good work. Best regards, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 06:46, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@BoyTheKingCanDance First, thank you for the kind words once again! I do try my best to make sure everything is ok with the articles. Also, I did see you tagged my translated article with the notability tag. I couldn't bring everything over from the other Wiki (either because I chose not to translate some sections or the templates were too different to easily bring it over). So that may be why the article seems to not be notable enough. Thanks in advance for the response. Losipov (talk) 03:32, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again dear friend, Losipov, I fully understand. My hope is that you might just add a few more citations, rather than more content. Then I think we will be fine. Keep up the great work. Sincere good wishes, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 03:35, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@BoyTheKingCanDance Yes, the sections and templates I didn't bring over did have additional citations that can be added by someone else (if this helps and if you didn't see already, I specifically added an expansion tag at the top to alert someone else who's interested in translating). Also, some citations like those in Konfuz are blacklisted on the English Wikipedia so they are unable to be brought over. With all that said, however, I do understand that the citations should be better and should be more of them. Thanks again and I'll continue to reach out if necessary. Losipov (talk) 04:01, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@BoyTheKingCanDance Hi again. Just a heads up: I made yet another translation (Big Baby Tape), but mainly if you come across it, you'll see that there are referencing errors at the bottom. Don't be alarmed, as there are sources there (again, I didn't translate all of the original article so most references still need to be brought over). This is just to give you a heads up of what to expect if you come across it. Cheers again! Losipov (talk) 03:05, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again dear Losipov, I hope you are doing great. Thanks so much for the heads up. It's really kind of you. BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 03:07, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Forest Reefs, New South Wales

Hi, I am trying to put the first version of this article up on Wikipedia. It would be great if you could just hold off (maybe for even 10 or 15 minutes), until the article is up first, before pointing out what is wrong with it. Because those criticisms might already be in hand, don't you agree? I can only admire your enthusiasm, but not so quickly, please.TrimmerinWiki (talk) 03:15, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi my friend TrimmerinWiki, I hope you are fine. I can't read your mind. These things are supposed to be done on the draftspace. Why not add the {{In use}} tag to show that the page is undergoing a major build? Very best regards

Hi, Yes, draftspace, indeed I used to do all articles as a draft first. Then the reviewers were telling me that, since I had done so many articles, putting new ones through the draft stage was a waste of time and effort. So, I followed that advice, and started to create smallish missing articles, directly. I still go through a draft, for a large article. However, thanks for the tip about the {{In use}} tag; that will assist me greatly.TrimmerinWiki (talk) 07:16, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Evan James (American writer)

Hello,

You tagged the above page twice as an orphan and as not notable enough.

I have linked another page to it, which takes care of the orphan tag. I have also reconfirmed from Wikipedia's Notability Guidelines: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_(people) . Item 4c under "Creative professionals" reads that one is notable if: "The person's work (or works) has: (c) won significant critical attention."

The writer above has been reviewed in The New York Times, The Washington Post (who called him "a writer to watch"), Kirkus Reviews and Publishers Weekly -- four of the most significant publications for critical attention in American literature. Each of these are focused on his work -- not mere mentions. They -- and every other citation focused only on his work -- are proof that he has "won significant critical attention" and therefore meets Wikipedia's notability requirements.

Please let me know if you will be removing the two tags.

I look forward to hearing back from you.

Thanks! LityNerdyNerd (talk) 17:23, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, my friend LityNerdyNerd, I hope you are fine. Actually, you can simply remove the templates yourself. They merely represent my assessment, and you can disagree and remove them. But in any event it sounds like you’ve done enough to warrant their removal, so please go ahead and delete them. Well done!!! And keep up the good work! Best wishes, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 04:20, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you!! LityNerdyNerd (talk) 14:26, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Which categories exactly do you need more here? Sanslogique (talk) 11:30, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Sanslogique, thanks for your message. The two categories you have aren't sufficient, so my advice is to add a couple more. Maybe search your article for key phrases or identifiers. Best rehards, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 11:32, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Category:Mina (Italian singer) compilation albums is already subcategories from some, so it makes no sense to keep them.--Sanslogique (talk) 11:51, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No, dear Sanslogique, it's actually an ideal category here. But it's your choice. BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 11:53, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Lede question

Hello BoyTheKingCanDance, I hope you're doing well. If you have a moment, I would appreciate it if you could explain a revert to the lede of the article Japan–Korea Joint Development Zone you made recently. I was under the assumption that a lede generally is a summary of the article, and should repeat key points made. Is this incorrect? Or is this not the reason you removed the second half of the lede. I am asking primarily for my own future reference. Cheers! Johnson524 (Talk!) 21:52, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi my friend Johnson524, I hope you are fine. Thanks for contacting me. A lede is essentially an introduction. It should introduce the subject and say what he/she/they/it are known for. In that sense, it's not really a summary of the entire article and it therefore doesn't need to say a little about everything. Once a lede gets too large, it often becomes a bit repetitive. Please don't think I mean yours, or that I'm criticising you. You're a really fine editor. I suppose it's a judgement call. In good faith, I sometimes shorten ledes that grow too large in proportion to the overall article. But I may of course be wrong. If another editor thinks I am, and in good faith restores the more voluminous lede, I don't push the issue. We are all just doing our best. So in your case, if you think I was mistaken, by all means, revert me. I certainly won't be offended and I won't challenge your decision. You truly are a very skilled editor. Best wishes, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 02:12, 29 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello BoyTheKingCanDance, that was quite honestly the kindest message I've read on this project to date, and you've made my day 🙂 Thank you for your kind regards, and I'll keep this information in mind. Cheers! Johnson524 (Talk!) 11:05, 29 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Leading (The Rest is Politics)

Hello! Thanks for flagging Leading (The Rest is Politics) as an orphan and an uncategorised article. I've fixed both these issues now. Grateful if you could review the page and reconsider the tags.

Drafted My Article

I Made A Article And You Drafted It I Undo It And I Want Reason For That ShayanEditz (talk) 16:59, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, ShayanEditz, you received a message on your own talk page with the reason: you had no sources. In particular, Wikipedia requires citations to reliable and authoritative third-party sources. Two good sets of Wikipedia guidelines that I have found really useful can be found HERE, regarding verifiability and HERE, regarding the need to maintain a neutral point of view. Best wishes, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 04:41, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You!

Thank you for reviewing my article on Fransella and suggesting the category additions. Really appreciated. I hope the additions I have made meet with your approval. I do try and be dispassionate and objective when writing articles. I was just wondering if the word 'virtuoso' to describe Fransella would be acceptable. He is the only flautist, I believe, to have been given the title 'The Paganini of the flute'. I do understand that many other articles use the term to describe musicians but for Fransella I wonder if it might actually be appropriate? Thank you again. RR424 (talk) 17:16, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi dear RR424, thanks for writing. Actually, can you find a third-party source calling him a virtuoso? Then you could say: "and, according to ..., a virtuoso". That would be fine. But just having an editor make the statement by herself or himself might open up a claim of bias. BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 04:38, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much for your swift response. Yes, I can and have found many references to Fransella as a virtuoso. I have mentioned this in the main article. I was using the term in the strict dictionary meaning which is: ‘a musician of the highest technical skill’ / ‘a person highly skilled in music’, which Fransella no doubt was. I will add a citation to the term in the first paragraph. You are so right about bias. When I think that my neighbour may also be a flutist but is certainly no virtuoso! 😊Thank you again for taking the time to respond. RR424 (talk) 09:06, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for being a fine editor, RR424. Keep up the excellent work! BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 09:09, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you once again. That comment, coming from you, is greatly appreciated. RR424 (talk) 09:15, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi dear @BoyTheKingCanDance, Thanks for reviewing and flagging my article of artist Sanjaya Gunarathna as an orphan and an uncategorised article. Now I have resolved the both these issues. Appreciate if you could check and reconsider the tags. Batmansam (talk) 12:43, 5 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi dear Batmansam, I hope you are fine. Actually, I can't find the article. Has it been renamed? BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 02:09, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I got a msg from another reviewer Saying:
Thanks for your contributions to Sanjaya Gunarathna. Unfortunately, it is not ready for publishing because it needs more sources to establish notability. Your article is now a draft where you can improve it undisturbed for a while.
This article has
1 reference to artist personal website biography page
13 reference about the artist from Sri Lankan mainstream newspapers
12 reference about the artist from Sri Lankan mainstream TV channels
Can you please tell me what area I should force to improve the article with referencing.
Thanks. Batmansam (talk) 04:26, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again, Batmansam. I think the article is now looking ok, but you should not use Sanjaya Gunarathna's own website (anjayagunarathna.com/about/) as a reference, which you do repeatedly. Sources must be independent of the subject. So I would remove that, go through every other citation to ensure that the information is actually independent (not created by him as marketing information for an exhibition, etc), and then, if you feel confident about your sources, resubmit to the mainspace. Best wishes, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 04:36, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your guidance. I will do that later and resubmit. Batmansam (talk) 04:40, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Bro (2023 film)

Hi, I recently added further information and improved the content of to the said draft to a great extent. The draft has been submitted for review using AfC-submit-wizard. I happened to see that you had moved it to a draft a few months back, after primitive addtions by Repto79456, due to lack of sources. Presently, I have added extensive citations and expanded the page and believe it is ready to be moved to the mainspace. I was wondering if you could please review it, and would be grateful if you did the same. Thank you and have a good day! ChaitanyaJo (talk) 07:55, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Imcdc, sadly, once articles get quite a way down the queue they don't get seen by new page patrollers as much as those just added. But I had a look at the pages and there's no reason why they should not be marked as reviewed. They reflect a netral tone, they draw upon a lot of third-party sources, they are well formatted, and they contain notable information. Good job. Craxy Draft

Firstly, I'd like to thank you and Liz and others for helping me educate myself on how to create articles as I'm pretty sure in my many years of using Wikipedia this is my first time actually creating a new article, so the guidance is appreciated! One question I did have is regarding YouTube as a source. While I appreciate in many cases that YouTube may not be a reliable source, I'm not sure how much more reliable a source I can get when it comes to the meaning of a group's name than an interview with the group explaining it in person on a video. Are there allowances for things such as this?

To avoid you having to go digging through the article history, in this particular instance I had sourced the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mnq5-9KuQNo (3:05 in, they ask the meaning of the name, at which point Swan explains it).

I'm going to chip away at some further editing/sourcing of the article having reviewed Wikipedia:WikiProject Korea/Reliable sources, however I just wanted to get a better understanding of the situation before I progressed very far. It doesn't help that this particular Entertainment Company is a relatively new one that openly focuses on YouTube for marketing (they state as much on their site), but I'll persevere now that I've found a number of Korean articles I can use for the more basic things!

Thanks again for any assistance you're able to provide! Loony BoB (talk) 23:31, 11 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi my friend Loony BoB, I hope you are fine. Youtube is not considered a RS in almost every instance. Please see HERE, and scroll down to YouTube. For an essay explaining why not to use a YouTube video clip as a source, see: Videos as references. It is not an absolute prohibition. The guidelines state: "Content uploaded from a verified official account, such as that of a news organization, may be treated as originating from the uploader and therefore inheriting their level of reliability." Thus, the guidelines are an explanation of the grave complications of using videos, with the qualifier: "Links should be evaluated for inclusion with due care on a case-by-case basis." For the reasons you mention above, I would suggest that your YouTube clip won't make the grade. Is there truly no other source anywhere? Best regards, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 01:38, 12 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately not! There's a number of inaccurate comments from other sources, and a couple of reliable Korean sites simply refer to the video rather than repeating the information (which is normal, reliable agencies don't simply transcribe interviews made by other news agencies). You mention, however, that a verified official account such as that of a news organisation is acceptable. This YouTube channel in question is for HANBAM, a show made by SBS Korea, which is one of the five major TV networks in South Korea. YouTube just happens to be their chosen outlet for HANBAM releasing both new and archived footage.
I do welcome more thoughts from your end on this! I really enjoy that Wikipedia allows for useful information such as the meaning behind music artist names where it is available. I'd definitely prefer for this article to have access to this information as in the English world the meaning behind the name is generally reported on social media inaccurately as something to do with 'crazy' (an understandable assumption for the uninformed, but inaccurate all the same). Loony BoB (talk) 10:00, 12 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again dear Loony BoB. I hope you are doing great. I haven't heard of HANBAM, sorry, so I'm unable to offer advice on its reliability. If you sincerely believe that your clip is from a "verified official account, such as that of a news organization", try adding it again. I won't remove it. I'll let other editors take a look. Best regards, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 03:43, 13 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's very fair of you - although I did manage to find a couple of alternative sources thanks to trying other languages (there were also some sources via wayback machine in Chinese Wikipedia who do have an article for Craxy, but I wasn't sure on the viability of using WayBack Machine).
Would you be able to advise if you feel that the article is worth publishing again now that I've gone through the entire thing once more? If you have time, that is - no real rush :)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Craxy Loony BoB (talk) 16:39, 13 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again, Loony BoB, I removed one YouTube clip that did not originate from HANBAM (see above), and kept the one that did. I think it's worth trying again to add the article to the mainspace. It's certainly stronger than it was. Yes, you can use information via the WayBack Machine. Good luck. BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 05:24, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again for all your assistance on my first ever article! Loony BoB (talk) 08:51, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion Of Mayolee's Page

Hi, I'm Tife, relatively new on wikipedia. Some days ago I was making some research on an event that happened in Nigeria in 2020 (End Sars). I then stumbled on a Nigerian Independent Reportage by German Deutsche Welle (DW) where they interviewed Nigerian citizens and few notable Nigerians on the aftermath of the event which were Michael Oluwole (Nigerian Music Producer), Muhammad Dingyadi (Minister of Police Affairs) and Human Right Activist Victoria Ibezim-Ohaeri.

I added this news on the End Sars wikipedia article and in the course of that tried to link their names on wikipedia and they aren't there. So i decided to do a little research and Michael Oluwole turns out to be Mayo MuziQ now Mayolee, a gospel music producer. Gospel music is huge in Africa - though it lacks accurate media coverage - , this individual is responsible for the production of some of the biggest gospel songs in the African region. From Way Maker by Sinach to Jesus & Cheta by Ada, Joy Overflow, Done me well, Holyghost by Joe Praize, My Light by Jahdiel, Lover of my soul by Elijah Oyelade, list of songs from Israel Strong, Peeyuu, UR flames, TB1, Pastor Saki, CSO and list of other artists. He was also signed to Universal Music Group SA in 2020.

So I came on wikipedia to create a page for this individual and realised he had a page that was deleted. I went through the discussions and saw that he was poorly represented by whoever put up the page. The page also looked like someone was using the article to learn wikipedia and didn't do their home work properly.

I saw you were part of the people who nominated the page for deletion and thought to contact you as I am now trying to recreate the page with accurate and citable informations on the subject.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

New

Thank you for reviewing a couple of new pages I created, I would want to seek your opinion or review on Mustafa Gültepe especially as regards notability. I’m seeking a second opinion after an editor who I deem a superior to me here added the notability tag. I will appreciate your input + or -, I speak English, lived in Turkey and try to put up as many notable Turks as I can on en WP, and wouldn’t want to spam wiki with unmerited subjects. Kind regards. Hi dear TEB001, I hope you are fine. I looked at the page, and think it's well constructed and nicely written. Good work. In terms of notability, I think it probably makes a good case. But I wonder whether you could add a couple more third-party sources (meaning sources not connected to any of the businesses he runs). That would clinch it, I'm sure. Keep up the great work! Best regards, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 09:15, 20 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Adam Tactical Group categorization

Hello, when reviewing Adam Tactical Group you left a template requesting more categories. I added an additional one just now of a battle the unit has taken part in, since the category "Military units and formations of the Russian invasion of Ukraine" was added per WP:CATSPECIFIC, it leads to other relevant categories that category is part of. More categories at the moment would probably be stretching it given the content on the article, but can be added once more references and information becomes available. I would appreciate if you could have a look at it again and let me know if there's anything else or if it is ready to be marked as reviewed, thanks for your time.
