Yu Yu Hakusho (Japanese: 幽遊白書, Hepburn: Yū Yū Hakusho) is an upcoming is action fantasy adventure streaming television series developed by Akira Morii and Kazutaka Sakamoto for Netflix. The series is a live action adaptation of the Japanese manga series of the same name by Togashi Yoshihiro. It is produced by Robot Communications. It stars Takumi Kitamura, Shuhei Uesugi, Jun Shison and Kanata Hongō

Premise

The story revolves around Yusuke Urameshi, a delinquent junior high school student who spends his days getting into fights and who die after saving a child in a car accident, and gets resurrected to serve as an investigator of the supernatural.

Development

On December 16, 2020, a Japanese live-action series adaptation was announced, scheduled to premiere in December 2023. It will stream on Netflix worldwide, with Netflix contents acquisition director Kazutaka Sakamoto serving as executive producer and Akira Morii producing the series at Robot.[1][2][3] On July 15, 2022, it was reported that Shō Tsukikawa will serve as the series director, with Tatsurō Mishima handling the script and Ryō Sakaguchi serving as the VFX supervisor.

Casting

In July 2022 Netflix announced the series stars Takumi Kitamura as Yusuke Urameshi,[4] Shuhei Uesugi as Kazuma Kuwabara,[5] Jun Shison as Kurama[6] and Kanata Hongō as Hiei.[7]
