NICKNAME

Why does it now say "Gerry" all over the page? I'm pretty sure he doesn't go by that nickname. Mcr's Genre

MCR IS NOT EMO.

I can't cite this which is bad (I'm sure it's in an interview somewhere) but I'm positive that the band themselves do not want to be called emo. In my opinion they are genre-less, since it changes from album to album.

I feel MCR have no genre so just dont say rock.emo or whatever. I know MCR IS NOT emo. Emo is a subgenre of hardcore punk music (got from wikipedia) and u think bout it. Black Parade is different. Yes MCR have been hardcore punk but I feel they have grown out of that!

Helena

Helena is about his grandmother Elena Lee Rush passing away right before the recording of three cheers for sweet revenge, Elena's nickname was Helena which is why gerard named the song Helena, He has said she was his biggest musical influence, and it was hard for him to have the helena charachter dance in the video because he thought it would be disrespectful. He now wears his grandmother's wedding ring which led to millions of rumors about him being married. I've gathered all that from multiple sources, including Imnotok.com or .net whichever it is, songmeanings.net,mcr interviews,and gerard himself...

Belleville, NJ

NJ is not crime ridden. I know that and I dont live there. I have seen Gerard's house and it is different. They have pictures of t.v./ Film families and personalities. It is kind of funny. If u look on Youtube u will find Gerard Showing his house. Its not bad

Ok, here we go agian with the "looks can be diecieving" quote. If you look this up on Search.com, then it will tell you that though it doesn't look it now, it really was a crime ridden nieghbor-hood. Gerard himself said that they kept finding all these dead bodies around the parks, so he couldnt go out.

If you believe that, then I don't know what to tell you. I grew up in Belleville, NJ, and went to school with Gerard and Mike Way. There weren't dead bodies or tons of crime. They're wrong and/or just flat-out lying. Siting Sources

Does anyone have a source for the statement Gerard and Mikey made about Bert's comments to MTV being a joke? -EowynMorgan

I agree, I would like to see a source cited for that as well. It's pretty obvious that they did have a falling out, otherwise we MCR fans would be seeing more of Bert around because they used to be inseparable.--Jude 06:22, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

Trivia About Gerard's Hair

That trivia should defently be removed.. it doesn't go out to his music nor himself...it's about HIS HAIR, and it's completely pointless. And also, i doubt he ever said that.

why do we have an old picture of gerard on the page? that video was live during new years day, that was about 17 days ago, he might of dyed/bleached it back..but i believe thats reliable because there are a few videos that have gerard and his new dyed hair, he even had it while he sung famous last words and dead! also on that day Blkeddie! 03:19, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

King of Rock

Recently on MTV2's All That Rocks, Gerard Way was voted the "Almighty King of Rock" with 63% of the vote. Should this be put on Gerard Way's page??

"Olivia"

I recently put a piece in teh trivia section about a supposed relationship with a girl named Olivia and it was deleted. I usually don't like to rock-the-boat but that was a serious rumour for a while and I left it a month before I added it just to be sure. Now my paragraph also defunked the rumour and cited an interview refrence about how she is a hair stylist and they are "just friends". So why was it deleted? You've got a paragraph there about a supposed relationship with Bert McCraken, so why not this one?

It is a rumour, not a fact...The bit about Bert McCraken is a fact. I think that is why it is removed. Olivia is not a person...She is Gerard's dog. The girl in the rumour is Eliza "Cuts". She is Mikey's hair stylist and a friend of Alicia Simmons. Mikey has offically declared on his myspace account that Eliza has never dated anyone in the band. Adriana Mercury

There is an article titled Adriana Mercury containing many false claims about a person who is purported to be Gerard Way's girlfriend. If the article is still there when you read this, I would appreciate it if anyone familiar with Way would comment at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Adriana Mercury so we can get rid of the false article. Change the photo already!!

Gerard has recently dyed his hair back to black again (as of his appearance on MTV, which can be viewed on YouTube with MCr performing "Dead!" and "Famous Last Words" from The Black Parade. As I have stated many times before, before we can change the picture, we first need a reliable source to use as a citation for him having black hair, and second we need a picture that we have permission to use from the license holder. --Sadistic monkey 02:34, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Cleanup

This article needs a pretty big cleanup- I've already removed unnecessary sections (see page history) and added citationneeded tags at various points. The article also needs to read more like an encyclopedia, and most of the article needs to be sourced, as I said before. Some of the sections are also about My Chemical Romance and not Gerard- Discography and Lyrics, and Musical Influences and Tastes, however some of the material in these are relevant to him, it's just a matter of filtering the My Chemical Romance material and putting it in that article. I'll be working on this over the next few weeks, but please help! Other than that, it's looking good, and it's got a pretty thorough biography. It's now just a matter of the wording. Also, I think we need another blond picture of him at the top. The current one is small and he may have dyed his hair black for the New Years performance but that doesn't mean that is for the rest of the tour. Agreed- I don't think there's any recent pics of him with black hair anyway. I'm pretty sure it's black at the moment, but I could be wrong- we'll find out for certain at Big Day Out, at least, unless people can find pictures of him sooner? The picture is pretty out of date, it's not recent at all. And by the way, whether it's a picture of him blonde or not, it doesn't really matter, it's him. True, he has dyed it back, but the fact is it's still him. A more recent photo, however, should be preferable. CattleGirl ^{talk | sign!} 08:46, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Not to be rude or anything, but if you want a newer pic of gerard, then why say you dont care if he has blond or black hair. He already died it black so im quite sure that any pic of him in blond hair is not a recent one.

(P.S)Does anyone know where he is in the current pic? Someone told me it was his house.

Sources

I've seen this major problem with pretty much every article related to My Chemical Romance -- people aren't sourcing! People are adding rumors and hearsay to the pages. Not just that, people are adding things that ARE the truth but aren't putting sources. We need to work on cleaning this up, in my opinion.

he's not gay. people only say that because he's mentioned gay people in a few interviews.

Um, chances are you've come across a vandal, and I wouldn't put your myspace out here, and there are probably about 500 people named Winona.

People say he's gay because of his relationship with bert. Not that I believe them but there is a lot of rumors that gerard has "messed around" with Bert. Not to mention the suspicious "Quotes" on the sit imnotokay.net

Gerard is not bisexual. He has said it himself in an edition of blunt magazine.

Citation Needed

What's with all the Citation Needed comments everywhere? Yes, I understand they're important, but the fact that he still smokes needs citation..? I understand that people need to be sure but if there's a citation for every single tiny detail there'll be more links than information on the page. =/

Since this is a biography article, and on a subject that is vandalized on a regular basis, if it sounds like it could be false it has to be cited. And the fact that he still smokes probably shouldn't be in there anyways, it's really trivial. It doesn't need to be on every little detail, but on a whole, we need to make sure that everything in the article is 100% fact.Darthgriz⁹⁸ 03:54, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Third Album

I believe the third album is not "Welcome To The Black Parade", it is "The Black Parade".

Art section

I moved the part about his art in the "background" information to the section for "art" which had previously been deleted I'm *guessing* due to lack of solid information. I figure that his artwork isn't really background since he is presently working on it, and I think it deserves its own space. I have heard it's his grandmother's ring as Mikey isn't wearing one anymore, they swapped. But regardless he didn't write "I Don't Love You" because of it - he and Ray sing the basic chorus of it in Life on the Murder Scene so it's an old songBronperna

Swimming

In the making of "The Ghost of You" video, Gerard states that he considers himself a "really great swimmer" but that he was still scared when the boat started sinking.--Jude ^talk 03:45, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Wording

Since the edit summary was getting to be a bit long-winded. I reverted the following edits: found here because the wording is very awkward and I think it goes without saying. It seems slightly redundant and unnecessary to me, but the original editor disagrees reverting the edit, so I wanted to see what everyone else thought about it. Here is the original text before the edits:

As a child, Gerard came to the revelation that everyone he cares about will eventually die, and that he will die alone.

I read the "die alone" part pre-redundancy on imnotokay.net, but it seemed like padding and filler to me. I don't really have an opinion on whether the realisation part stays or goes. 'Gothic House'

Fourth best-looking female??? Is that a joke?! Also, the house he grew up in was far from dark and gothic. That's making him out to be more 'street' or 'goth' or whatever than he actually is like Blur, Vanilla Ice and Lily Allen have done. And one more thing: why is there about as much on Bert McCracken than his whole musical career? Most people haven't heard of it; but nearly everyone's heard of MCR. The Fourth best looking female is actually true. It was part of a livejournal.com serge of votes. Your opinions are greatly valued, however do you have any sources to say that Gerard is pretending to be more than what he is "like Blur, Vanilla Ice, and Lily Allen have done"? I'm not saying that he hasn't, but such a strong opinion should be backed by a source before we could add it to the article. Thank you for your contribution to the discussion. Girlfriend

Hi, it is said in the article that his girlfriend's name was Olivia, I don't know who put this but its not true. In fact, no one knows the name of Gee's ex-girlfriend and that's none of our business. Can anyone remove this crap?
