bobby cash - the indian cowboy
BOBBY CASH BIOGRAPHY February 2006
Bobby Cash grew up and resides in Clement Town, near Dehradun (NE India) in the foothills of the Himalayas. His recent nomination for CMA Global Artist Award in 2005 is tribute to his achievements in the past 3 years.
A pioneer in his own country, Bobby is the first Indian ever to release a country music album in India. Born Bal Kishore Das Loiwal, his father used to call him “Babu” which became “Bobby”- and Kishore became “Kish”, which in turn became “Cash”.
For as long as he can remember country music was played in his house. In the early 1960’s an aunt moved to Nashville and would regularly send the latest country releases to Bobby’s mother. With an uncle who made electric guitars and sisters and cousins with a similar passion, Bobby’s home became a kind of incubator of country music in India.
He has the dark looks of Northern India, the mellowest vocal style and an extraordinary gift for the guitar. He’s 6’1”, wears a cowboy hat, fringed leather jacket and black leather pants and Texan boots. His influences are broad from Jim Reeves, Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard to Willie Nelson and Kenny Rogers with some flamenco thrown in.
Descended on his Mothers side from a Maharaja, the advance of Christian Missionaries at the end of the 19th century resulted in his great grandfathers conversion to Christianity, expulsion from the Cote and a new way of life for the following generations.
His father married late in life and was, as Bobby said, “a kind of Howard Hughes”. In the 1930’s he would go big game hunting with Hollywood movie stars and skiing in the Swiss Alps. After an accident car racing he underwent a change of life and went on to give away the family fortune.
After his Father’s death Bobby used what money was left to set up a school and hostel for underprivileged children that his family run, while he went to New Delhi to try and make his living as a professional musician. He landed a regular paying gig at “Rodeo” in Connaught Place, New Delhi, after entering a karaoke competition there. Once people realised that not only did he have a great voice, but that he could really play the guitar, he soon became a major drawcard.
After briefly dabbling in “Hindi pop” he returned to his first true love- Country Music. In New Delhi whenever any Australian heard him they would tell him he that had to go to the Tamworth Country Music Festival. It was to be the start of a dream.
By 2002, after five years, he had a good regular income playing some of the best venues in New Delhi. A chance meeting with Australian Producer/Director Colin Bromley in Jan 2002 turned that dream into a reality when he and co-Producer Gerry O’Leary, through their newly formed company Gobsmacked Television, arranged for Bobby to attend the 2003 Tamworth Country Music Festival as the subject of a documentary. As India’s population had just passed the one billion mark, and Bobby was the only guy in India making a living playing country music, it became “The Indian Cowboy…One in a Billion”.
Tamworth was a chance for Bobby to play for, and with, people who truly love the same music he does. The curious who came to his first shows were soon converts when they saw this charismatic and talented performer so passionate about his music. He became an overnight sensation. He also caught the eye of a successful farmer whose Aunt had been a missionary in India between the 1920’s and 50’s. While knowing nothing about Bobby, he offered to help Bobby record a CD - in the hope that some of the profits would go to help underprivileged children in India. It turned out to be a match made in Heaven. Bobby returned to Australia in June 2003 and recorded his first country music album - “Cowboy at Heart”. With new-found-Tamworth-friend Lawrie Minson in the Producers chair, they managed to get some of the cream of the Australian music industry to play on the album - including duets with the legendary Smoky Dawson and Tania Kernaghan.
His CD “Cowboy at Heart” was released independently by Gobsmacked Television in December 2003 and made it into the top 10 Australian Country Music track charts and was the highest selling independent artist for distributor One Stop Entertainment at the 2004 Tamworth Country Music Festival.
The documentary “The Indian Cowboy…one in a Billion” screened in Australia on the Ovation Channel in December 2003 and on ABCTV in January 2004 and 2005 to critical acclaim. The Australian’s TV reviewer Susan Kurosawa summed it up when she wrote “This is a timely look, too, at how readily outsiders can be assimilated into an Australian country town: a place with a big heart that just couldn't get enough of the best Indian Cowboy they never heard of.”
In June 2004 the documentary screened on the Discovery Channel in India in both English and Hindi. In September the album was released through Universal Music (India) and in conjunction with Showtime Events, India, and the Taj Hotel Chain, Bobby toured for 2-3 weeks through Pune, Bangalore, Hyderbad, Mumbai, Emakulam and Colombo in Sri Lanka to full houses.
While country music in India is a niche market, Bobby believes it will have great appeal because it fits in with the Indian psyche. It shares a lot of common values such as loyalty, respect for elders, family and neighbours… and that some of the biggest selling music in India has been country music, John Denver’s “Country Road” being just one. It’s just not known as country music. Due to public demand, in July 2004 Bobby re-entered the studio and recorded an album of cover versions of crowd favourites. Titled “Phoenix to El Paso” it reflects the music Bobby and his family grew up listening to –cowboy and love songs.
Bobby attended the 2005 CMA music festival in Nashville after being nomination for CMA Global Artist Award and received a standing ovation from the head of the CMA, Ed Benson, who declared him to be “the real deal”.
Since his first visit to Australia in 2003, the last 3 years have been an amazing journey for Bobby. He’s played from agricultural field days to concert auditoriums and test matches - and everything in between. He’s appeared from Croydon in North Queensland to Melbourne in the south, Tweed Heads in the east and Geraldton in the west. And everywhere he goes the reaction is the same. “Nobody plays Country Music like this anymore”.
He performed at the 2006 Tamworth Country Music festival and has just recorded his third album to be released in April 2006 when he returns to Australia for his eleventh tour.

Zombie creation
What is a Zombie A zombie is a reanimation of a dead person that now wants to feed on human flesh, alive or just freshly killed. There are two types of Zombies: T-virus zombies: Slow and cumbersome, I think this one is creepy, as it is slow and it just pops up and bites. It also can move faster when missing arms and legs. Easy to shoot.
G-virus zombies: Fast and much smarter than the T's, This one isn't that creepy, as it uses human aproachs, like climbing on a pole like pipe in a shopping mall. Their speed is 4 times as fast, and not so easily killed, but cannot attack you without legs.
How is it formed and when?
Zombies are very scary, at least, to humans. They are dead, but what makes a zombie?
Well, I know a way to do it, but I am not sure if this works: Use a voodoo curse, mainly it was summoned 3000 years ago, on Haiti, when a chieftan tried using those died on a raid by his enemy. He tried to use it, but it not only destroyed his enemy, but wiped out three quarters of his poulation before he could find a cure. He burned the spells so it won't be used again, because if someone did, which he thought would be in 3 Millenium, it will be 100000 times deadlier.
How it starts in movies
Movies, I think, have their own reasons. You know Resident Evil, well in Day of the Dead and Land of the Dead, a secret laboratory accidently created it and someone broke the case holding some of the virus, making those inside the room turn into zombies. Dawn of the Dead (1978 and 2005) are a cause of an Alien Meteor crashing in a populated place and spreading a gas of Death and reanimation. Shuan of the Dead was created by a Nuclear Meltdown near London and raising dead people near, in the cemetry
This was created by me, Rhys Callinan.
P.S: don't hate my spelling, if I have any mistakes, after all, I'm just human, and I tried.
