Help me!

[edit]

Please help me with... What is the wayback machine used for? Also, when citing an article that is archived by the wayback machine, if the archive URL doesn't work how do i fix it? If someone could help fix the Emmanuel Akot archived URL or tell me how to fix it. 21pegedi89 (talk) 03:14, 18 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Wayback is for finding archived versions of specific pages. This can either be to find the source of a now-vanished URL (say if a website closes down) or to show the content of a page at a specific point in time (say if a page gets regularly updated/changed). More information about Wayback is at Help:Using the Wayback Machine.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by "if the archive URL doesn't work", mainly because I don't see anything wrong at the Akot page, so I'll give some general information. In almost every "cite X" template there is a |archive-url= parameter, to which you give the archive URL from Wayback. Other parameters are |archive-date=, the date the archive was taken, and |url-status=, which is generally set to either "live" or "dead". If you want more help, change the {{help me-helped}} back into a {{help me}}, stop by the Teahouse, or Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Primefac (talk) 08:22, 18 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

On 22 May 2022, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article David Milgaard, which you updated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:15, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2022 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:49, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
