Just to add to the reasons given, even if this article were to remain, it would need major disambiguation. This is NOT the only Booth family that has ever existed, and it is silly to name it as it was - There were other notable Booth families, see Booth (surname) for other notable Booths, e.g. Felix Booth, the founder of Booth's gin, who had a hand in naming parts of Canada. I don't see a need to pre-emptively disambiguate. If there are other Booth family articles to come some day, we can handle the problem at that time. --Dhartung | Talk 09:00, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
17+ years on this doesn't seem to have ever become a problem. Someone could have been born, and now is almost a legal adult, all in the time that this was first raised. Iljhgtn (talk) 20:01, 13 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Added this just discovered link. The article reveals a connection where it states that John Wilkes Booth, the assassin of Abraham Lincoln, was inspired by this ancient Roman. Lamenting the negative reaction to his deed, Booth wrote in his journal on April 21, 1865, "[W]ith every man's hand against me, I am here in despair. And why; For doing what Brutus was honored for ... And yet I for striking down a greater tyrant than they ever knew am looked upon as a common cutthroat." Booth performed the part of Brutus [(Shakespeare's version) six months before assassinating Lincoln. No, this is not encyclopedic. It is Wikopedic. It causes the reader to speculate on the family founder's decision to assume the name. JohnClarknew 19:51, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

There has been a question about John Wilkes Booth deliberately using John Wilkes after the revolutionary Lord Mayor of London, John Wilkes who opposed King George III. He has Wilkes in his ancestry. This is his ancestry sent to me by another Wilkes descendant:

Elizabeth Wilkes 1719-1801 & John Booth 1723-1787 to Richard Booth 1759-1839 & Jane Elizabeth Game 1770-1800 to Junius Brutus Booth, Sr. 1796-1852 & Mary Ann Holmes 1802-1885 to John Wilkes Booth 1838-1865

The Book I mentioned shows John Wilkes Booth left descendants.

Is John Wilkes Booth related to Elizabeth Wilkes born in 1719 and where is she one the family tree? Can you dispute this? SJB —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sandybouman (talkcontribs) 00:36, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Other Siblings

[edit]

Multiple articles here at Wikipedia state that Junius Brutus Booth had 10 children: four of which were Junius Brutus Booth, Jr., Edwin Booth, Asia Booth, and the infamous John Wilkes Booth. Is there a list somewhere of the names and birth dates of the other six children, because I don't see their names anywhere on the Booth-related articles here. Tony and Cherie Booth

[edit]

This article claims that Tony Booth and his baughter Cherie were not related to the Booth acting family but the only source cited is the home page of Ancestry.com it doesnt link to any specific info supporting that assertion. The notion cannot be dismissed that easily . Here is a quote from Tony Booth "The last time a Booth was in the theatre was a disaster as far as I am concerned. My great-great-grandfather's brother was the father of the actor John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated President Lincoln!" https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/profile-tony-booth-old-voice-for-new-labour-secret-1273261.html

Family

[edit]

He is an uncle of mine very far from me but he is indeed my family. My Papa is related that’s how I’m related and there’s also one more person in the Booth family whose name is John eventually after that time. 71.213.192.225 (talk) 00:42, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
