Variants

[edit]

The page cited is not alone sufficient to support the claim that the Ammy has been called "Upper Amonoosuck River", or called "Wild Amonoosuck River": their mention as "variants" may be construed to mean simply that those names are related to the name in question, especially since it is likely that they refer, respectively, to the completely separate Upper Ammonoosuc River and to the Ammy's tributary the Wild Ammonoosuc River. I.e., construing their names as names for the Ammy is most plausibly a mistake of either our editor or the board. Likewise, if it were the case that one writer each whom the board uncovered mistakenly attached those names to the Ammy, "has also been known as" would be literally true, but not the kind of generally accepted knowledge we are to provide. The at best confusing, and probably confused, info is unsuitable.
