Kenny Reardon?

[edit]

Kenny Reardon is listed in the former members section, but having searched the web for information on his position on the band, I cannot find any evidence that he was a member or even a musician. Can anyone provide a source? If there is no evidence to support him ever being in Captain Beyond he should not be included in the former members at all. Burbridge92 (talk) 22:55, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Kenny reardon was in the band Captain Beyond. But, it was at an obscure time with published information difficult to find. There are some sites in Russian that mention his name. Please note that Iron Butterfly primarily was popular after the heyday in Eastern Europe. That is why the picture of Lee Dorman playing a performance in the Czech Republic with Iron Butterfly is a farce and ludicrous on the two Captain Beyond pages on Wikipedia. But unfortunately for me, "Psychonaut" has discriminatingly singled me out because he/she thinks i am trying to shamelessly self promote myself (which is not true) and demands that an inaccurate photo remain on the pages. I will review further (because Kenny Reardon did play in Captain Beyond) and try to find published reference of note. Thank you. Markandrewz (talk) 06:10, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of member background information

[edit]

I'm not too happy with the recent removal of the individual members' backgrounds as they are necessary to understand why Captain Beyond is often labelled a supergroup. Bands are often formed by ex-members of previous groups, but for the band to be considered a supergroup it's necessary that the members gained individual prominence in their past work. The information which has been removed explained why each of the members was individually famous before forming Captain Beyond. —Psychonaut (talk) 06:55, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Somewhat related to this, Markandrewz, who variously claims here to be the band's manager, guitarist, vocalist, keyboardist, songwriter, and financial backer, has repeatedly claimed that Bobby Caldwell is the group's (sole) founder. Is anyone aware of independent reliable sources corroborating these claims? A "Mark Andrew" is listed on the band's official website as the manager, but there's no indication that he has any other role. Also, everything I've read about the band's formation has Caldwell joining last—for example this interview with Caldwell (admittedly probably not passing WP:RS but the first thing I could find) has him explaining that Dorman and Rhino invited him to form a band, and by the time he accepted the offer Evans had already joined. —Psychonaut (talk) 09:47, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me. You are not too happy with the the recent removals with the individual members backgrounds? First and foremost, I am who I say that I am. Got www.officalcaptainbeyond.com/contact and you will see. Second of all, I am not "happy at all" with what you are doing/writing here in the talk section and on the page. i just got off the phone with Bobby Caldwell and he is emphatic that the entire history is a joke - whoever wrote it - and completely incorrect. Our web designer used the copy of the Wikipedia history and placed it on www.officialcaptainbeyond.com because he was instructed to update the look and feel of the website. he has since (as of this morning) been chastised for using the history that is on Wikipedia. Psychonaut, get this through your head. The entire content of the page is incorrect!!! Second of all, if you keep making disparaging comments about me in public I "will" take action. Enough of your catty slanderous remarks about me - or this will escalate to a very unpleasant legal situation. Hear me now Psychonaut, Cease and desist with disparaging me and my name. I do not hide behind some foolish moniker. I am transparent and i have produced a lot of good for people. I am Mark Andrew. Mark Andrew Zwartynski. Markie Z. Go to www.markandrewgroup.com - that is one of my companies. It will explain who I am. Also go to www.markiezband.com . That will also explain who I am. go to my Facebook page www.facebook.com/markzwartynski . Go to www.twitter.com/mark_andrewz (Markie Z). As far as my role. I am the person funding the band. I and Bobby are writing material for the band. I am a music producer. You are full of it when everything your read has Bobby joining last. Bobby and Rhino go back to Florida, when Bobby played with the sifgned band Noah's Ark. lee Dorman came from Iron Butterfly. Rhino replaced Erik Braunn at one time in Iron Butterfly. Rod Evans was the last to join. He came from Deep Purple. He is the original singer of Deep Purple and sang on the hits such as "Hush" and "Kentucky Woman." Who, on God's earth are YOU, Psychonaut??? Because you do not know a speckle on a gnat'w worth of information about Iron Butterfly or Captain Beyond. Duane Allman asked Bobby to join the Allman Brothers, Amazon.com: allman brothers book: Books http://www.amazon.com/s?. Bobby and Rhino took their demo tape to Duane Allman in a hotel in Hollywood, CA and he played the tape for Phil Walden and told Phil that he had to sign the band. Capricorn Records (Phil Walden) signed Captain Beyond. The Allman Brothers since filed lawsuit against Capricorn and its assigns and won for unpaid royalties. Capricorn Records and its assigns owes Bobby Caldwell in excess of $300,000.00 for underreporting distribution and sales also costing him a gold record. Psychonaut, you are wrong!!! Come out from behind the curtain. My number is 214-552-0652. My email address is markandrew@markandrewgroup.com. That's right, Mark Andrew. Mark Andrew Zwartynski. I am the "a mark Andrew that is listed on the officialcaptain.com website. I will fly to where ever on this God's planet, show and tell you who I am with along with references that someone like you could only dream of. This is so wrong. This is on the level of where this country stands on discrimination and harassment. Come out Psychonaut and be prepared to respond to the disparaging remarks you have made about me to a judge in a court of law. Yopu have singled me out and you hide like a coward behind that ridiculous moniker! You have gone too far, sir/madam - whatever you are. You are an embarrassment to Wikipedia and all that it stands for which is good. You are so wrong and you know nothing of what you write. I want to make the page accurate. That is all. But, you have to contact me. I would like to settle this with you on a higher level as a man of God. I do not mind expressing my faith and am doing so now. That is my right as an American citizen regardless of what you think or if you think this is or is not a forum for such a statement. I am true to my faith and I tell the truth. Now you have disparaged me and you have to stand accountable. Period. Contact me! Markandrewz (talk) 01:48, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Mr. Zwartynski: Wikipedia entries are required to be based on reliable secondary sources (see WP:RS). A quirk of this policy is that individuals are not considered reliable sources for pages on themselves or their work. Author Philip Roth went so far as to have a letter published in the New Yorker so that he could then use it as a source to correct information on his page (see here). Most people do not have that option. Unfortunately for Captain Beyond, there isn't much published on the band, and information added by you or Mr. Caldwell is not considered reliable unless it cites an independent source. That isn't disparaging you; it is simply Wikipedia policy. Laszlo Panaflex (talk) 04:30, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Laszlo, Sir. I agree with you and Wikipedia's policies. I have stood down and not made any edits. It is quite impressive for a gentleman as formidable as Mr. Philip Roth to have a letter published in the New Yorker in order to have a source to correct information on his page. I agree that "Psychonaut" has not been able to identify published sources on a "Cult Supergroup" such as Captain Beyond. The problem stems from the fact of pre-internet days. I agree that the policy is not disparaging to me. I am a major fan of Wikipedia and completely agree that one must adhere to its policies. However, I do not appreciate the written attacking manner of "Psychonaut" - not for a moment. If a person that works for me treated anyone with that attitude, that grey area of condescension, the obvious singling out of me like I was being stalked, the double entendre remarks, the curt-not caring unprofessionalism to get to the truth and the discrimination, they would not be able to stay. I have said over and over. Work with me. Help me get the truth out. help me do it within the policies of Wikipedia. But if one posts an edit and then is lambasted and affronted, is that the right way to do things. it is not so much what one does, rather how one does it. That is "Psychonaut's" problem.

I will work to get the Captain Beyond page correct because it is very incorrect at the moment. Most importantly, I will not post or provide an edit unless I am absolutely sure that it meets Wikipedia's policies. I promise you that, Sir. Nonetheless, I demand that Psychonaut to contact me at 214-552-0652 for a civilized succinct conversation. I will go so far and say they may contact me first at my email address: markandrew@markandrewgroup.com. Second, I demand a written and verbal apology from "Psychonaut." Third, I do not want to see "Psychonaut's" name ever attached to anything that I am involved with. I do not work with people like that. I only work with good people. I am a reasonable person. I am very serious about the three aforementioned points and am now promising that I will pursue all matters allowed to me by civilized peaceful society to accomplish them. It is quite easy. it is in Psychonaut's court. I am not going to wait very long. i am expecting swift action regarding those three aforementioned points personally by "Psychonaut" and not any representatives. Once done. I will drop the issue and never come back to it like amnesia. So, I await. Respectfully, Mark Andrew Zwartynski (markandrewz) Markandrewz (talk) 06:00, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the content, putting the information on the band's official web site and then using that as a source here would likely suffice. Official band web sites are not ideal sources, but they are used widely on WP and would probably not be challenged on RS grounds. Laszlo Panaflex (talk) 14:27, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

citation-needed

Psychonaut or whoever,

Please take out the citation needed after my name ! I am Lewie Gold and I was a founding member of Captain Beyond and the original keyboardist! Originally it said : Lewie Gold a well-respected from Florida before it went on to say that I left the group for personal reasons. You can contact Bobby Caldwell and he will confirm everything that I am saying. You so-called experts should refrain from changing things that you know absolutely NOTHING about . I was in the group ! YOU were NOT !

I remain !
