Improved Clarity of Location Description

[edit]

I changed the location of Kapunda to "near" the Barossa Valley from "in" it to more accurately describe where it is. While it may be helpful from an economic and marketing perspective to claim that Kapunda is in the Barossa Valley, it isn't.

Some sources that support this are:

  1. Map on SA Govt tourism web site: http://www.southaustralia.com/product.asp?product_id=9002731
  2. Light Council web site: http://www.light.sa.gov.au/site/page.cfm
  3. Map and text, "Nestled between the Clare and Barossa Valleys", on Kapunda tourism web site: http://www.kapundatourism.com.au/kapunda/

More Accurate Description of Agricultural Activity Needed

[edit]

I am sure that Kapunda contributes more to the "cereal production" in the region rather than to the wine industry in the Barossa Valley per se (see 2nd section of Kapunda entry). This could be borne out by actual agricultural/industrial output figures for example - but I couldn't find any.

If you do find some such info or you can write a more accurate description, please add it in.

General Edits/Updates

[edit]
  1. I added the population based on local govt tourism web site: http://www.kapundatourism.com.au/kapunda/
  2. I added agricultural information based on
    1. regional economy web site: http://www.southaustralia.biz/sa_regions/barossa.htm
    2. council web site: http://www.light.sa.gov.au
    3. local processing company web site: http://www.jtj.com.au/
  3. I changed the order of the paragraphs to put the OLD industry (mining) first (there is still some quarrying being carried out), and the CURRENT industry (agriculture) second, which is more chronologically logical.
  4. I removed "significant" from Kapunda's contribution to the wine industry in the Barossa Valley as it is subjective and relative unless sources are cited, of which there appear to be none.

Map

[edit]

I don't know whether it is correct to say that Map was "destroyed" by the arson attack - it just seemed to me after the attack that his left leg was burnt off. The rest of him still certainly seemed to be there! 138.206.161.194 11:28, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Having looked at it after the fire I have to agree with the word "destroyed" - it was certainly 'damaged beyond use" as a statue. We have to use the word destroyed though as this is how the referenced news article describes it - Peripitus (Talk) 12:18, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Haunted?

[edit]

does there really need to be a reference to this in there? it was one stupid documentary that claimed that, and it's not like the town conducts ghost tours or even publicises this claim. 129.96.136.145 (talk) 16:05, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
