Princely State?

[edit]

Vijayanagaram Estate was not a princely state, but a zamindari within the Madras Presidency. Cf Maclean, Glossary of the Madras Presidency, Madras 1887; Narayana Murty, The Vijayanagaram Raj, being a short historical sketch. Calcutta 1917. Especially the latter discusses this point at length. The book starts with the sentence: "Vizianagaram is an ancient and impartable zamindari." p.1 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.64.105.58 (talk) 20:45, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
