Missing so much

[edit]

Gunter Gabriel has a life story which could fill a few wikipedia pages, this stub misses so much. His career started earning money during his time at university, where he studied mechanical engineering. He dropped out of university without graduation as his ability to mix and write music got him good money. After some success with written songs for other artists, the first released self-sung song Er ist ein Kerl (Er fährt ’nen 30-Tonner Diesel) (He is a real man / He drives a 30 ton diesel) instantly became a hit, followed by others. After having a rather successful career as interpret of country and rock songs which he translated into german in his unique way, writing a lot of own compositions even for other singers, he financially broke down due to bad counseling, alcohol and drugs in the 1980ies. With some difficulities he worked his way back up into whealth and fame but still lives a life far away from the usual stardom. His house long was (and probably still is) a boat on a river, he talks & acts straight on without bending himself (which gave him a criminal record of more than 20 convictions mostly for insulting authorities). He is seen as the german Johnny Cash, who he was a friend to for 25 years until his dead, recording in his studios, he even played the character in an austrian/german musical show about the live of Johnny Cash. I'd recommend looking him up on youtube. A real cool dude... --84.175.93.98 (talk) 13:24, 19 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
